Sweet insomnia (3am here) makes me look up keynotes about the ongoing debate while catching up with all the other things going on in the world.

So far it seems to be rather civilised show and even he who should be forgotten worked out some content beyond raging against his opponent.

edit: can't believe he seriously went on with the pets...

i tried watching it but listening to that orange idiot's voice makes me want to break things. I did hear him claim, however laughably, that Kamala went to Russia to negotiate with Putin and its her fault he invaded Ukraine... lol honestly, if anyone reading this is a supporter of this idiot, I hope you realize how little respect he has for you by making these demonstrably false claims just to garner your support. I hope you feel as small and stupid as he is.

@Vertigo 7: That's why I only read summaries. I'll only watch a video of that debate if someone substitutes the mad man with a babbling clown.

edit: that gun-owner card was well played, Harris. Really well played.

Only seen highlights, but its clear Trump went off the rails very early. That stuff about eating dogs was just unhinged. He didn't prepare and it clearly shows. But his mental state of mind clearly did the job for him. Then for him to go the spin room, and say "It was his best debate ever", he probably realised it was a train wreck. question is, will he agree to a second debate? He might, if his inner circle tries and soften the blow and says, he has a good chance of doing better.

But from what I seen, Trump was bad, and Harris was in her A game. Now, its time for the republicans to realise that their candidate is way out of his depth and needs to be gone.

Well done Harris, you really have him on the run now.

Really awesome, so just read some of the extracts of his Fox and friends meltdown, he now saying there won't be another debate. And still claims he won big.

Well, in other news, his social media price has fallen a bit today. So that is probably a good indication that he did poorly. So all in all, Its high time that the media start to put pressure on him to move aside.

Also, Vance also tried to confirm Trump's lie about pets being eaten, and got fact checked as well. He really shouldn't be trying to say stuff without confirmation, especailly when it makes him look silly in the process.

Anyway, Harris did well, I'm sure Trump will be fuming and plenty of ketchup being thrown for a few days.

The debate was suprisingly good, albeit this might be due to contrast how bad the previous one was.

I liked that moderators were flexible, but orderly - they allowed enough rowdyness to keep it spicy, but not too much to turn into cacophony.

Another nice thing, is that both Trump and Harris toned down on this peculiar fake manner of speaking, that is seen among many present day politicians.
Trump manage to tone town that "car salesman" way of speaking, but he still repeats himself and drift waaaaay too much.
Harris on the other side, while being a bit stiff at the beginning, clicked well in the second part - it felt like She dropped the prepared script and went full relaxed and natural - I wish we could see her in such form more often.

As for Trump pets remarks, it could feel weird, it could feel funny, but somehow it reminded me case from 10-15 years ago when Polish immigrants in London ate a swan (and no, this would be frown upon in Poland, we don't eat swans normally  ).

Overall, I'd change one thing in the debate:
I wish there would be one anti-Trump moderator and one anti-Harris moderator, who would have a right to scream "OBJECTION! DEFLECTION!" every time they try to drift away and not answer given question.
Both Trump and Harris had such moments, albeit Trump had more of them.

I haven't watched much of the debate, so I can't really comment on it, but what I have seen and heard with Trump saying he did good it scares me to think what he thinks would be bad for him.

You don't have to look far or hard - just back to previous debate - while everyone focused on how bad Biden was, Trump was at his low as well.

If Trump would perform as bad as in debate with Biden, we would probably hear the calls to swap him out as well.

I think the problem is his mental state, and that he has surrounded himself with Yes Men, who don't tell him the facts, or he just doesn't want to know the facts. He living in his own fantasy world, and nothing can change that. He probably knows he lost the debate, but he can't admit it, so he spins it. But its very scary that someone with that kind of condition should be allowed near a position of power. It was badd in his first term of office, but if he gets in, he will ignore the facts, his mind will disregard what being said to him.

You need someone who can porcess what being presented in front of them, and to be abel to process different trains of thoughts, and alternative strategises, so that the person can make the best choice. Trump won't do that, and people will be fired and only make it harder to get the facts across.

And this is what the media are failing to understand when they reshape / rehash his word salads. And think its ok. His mental fitness is not good enough for the job.

He wants the position of power, but doesn't want to work or understand it. And it will be far worse then his first term.

I watched it. He couldn't even look at her. When she attacked his "I won the election" crap I honestly thought he might cry. She wound him up and relished his tantrum.

Go Harris.

There could be a good reason why Trump may have gone off the rails about pets being eaten. Trump has been travelling with a woman called Laura Loomer. She was spotted leaving the plane Trump was on a bit before the debate. She is another crazy, even MTG has hit back at her. And some of the republicans are worried over her influence over Trump. Maybe Laura Loomer wants to become Trump's next wife or even a cabinet job? But anyway, Trump trainwreck performance is probably due to her influence, and even Michael Cohen has said, that Trump is influenced by the last person who he speaks with.

While its good that Trump's glass ego got shattered. but it does seem that Trump is getting bad influence from some crazy wacky people. So again, will be a bought and paid for president if he gets back into power. And that should be a concern.

Seem like Trump handed Harris another win on a golden plate by refusing another debate.

If things will continue like that, Harris will have rather safe advantage by November.

Everything else would be a disgrace for the US. Mr. "Immigrants eat your pets" and his vice "Russia has the right to invade Ukraine because Ukraine is corrupt" have no place in leading the country (or having any other position of power for that matter).

I think the debate has got to him, he visited Arizona and said they were in Pennsylvania! Which I think would have made a few people puzzled and cross.

Also, Lindsey Graham urges Trump to ditch ‘toxic’ Laura Loomer. This guy probably won't get much love from Trump now, being another Republican to say that Trump should dump Laura Loomer. As this woman is a total nut job. and very extreme conspiracy theorist. So people are taking notice and getting worried. So infighting between republicans, got to like.

I'm not surprised that Trump has turned down another debate, his poor ego will not stand for another beating. Harris shattered it. and there is no walking back from that. Many republicans are saying that Trump lost it big, a few are secretly saying that they will vote for Harris. Trump will probably fire some of his staff, but I wish someone will fire him, as that performance was purely on his shoulders and no one else's.

What "poor ego" and "beating"? Did he not call it his "best ever debate"? You cannot possibly insinuate that Trump -- "the best candidate for POTUS ever" -- would say what is not true?

The thing Trump said the most during the debate was "look at" so they did and pulled him up on the lies he was saying, now he is complaining that they fact-checked him more than Harris and that was unfair, but he did tell them to "look at" everything. Also, I noticed the likes of Fox are moaning about it too, but they are not showing any evidence of when they should have been fact-checking her, maybe that's because she was not lying over and over again.

As for that Loomer, even Moscow Marge is calling her a racist nutjob, takes one to know one.
