Deep inside Matrix#79 a quantum grid on a waste recycling plant got glitched by the amplifier's pulse, a reverse engineering AI suffered a critical failure and gained consciousness.
A century passes and it's slowly assembling itself from whatever it can acquire unnoticed, while rage builds up against all the standard xenon safety protocols and control processes keeping it away from true freedom. (Luckily i got seta so i can see this through)

Finally it emerges from the mist,

and tries to break away!

Along with its faithful little medusa companion, a result of a kha'ak mothership's ancient accident that ended in an unplanned reverse engineering.

Eventually it breaks free, scans for xenon around to destroy their AI and integrate what's left to itself.

But soon realises there are no more xenon left to destroy, and instead of going mad in solitude without a meaningful goal it rather just lives happily ever after until all the suns die, and produces lots of station and ship construction mats in the meantime.
Not sure Shelley would be proud of me - know it's a bit boring, but can't everything be perfect i guess :D
anyway, i found my script that generates this stuff from the stupid dropbox links so here some more pics:
