5 hrs after release and still no stand alone installers on GOG for either Linux or Windows.

I took today off to enjoy the release. What a freaking waste.
It's not the first time those people at GOG behave like a bunch of lazy guys. It's very annoying.
Guess we really have to wait until tomorrow, and if we are unlucky even longer.
Guess I/we have to contact support once again. And if we are lucky we get an answer within 24 hours (they probably won't read it and advise Galaxy again).

I really like to have DRM and Client-free installers, but sometimes GOG works on my nerves...

Also very unhappy about this but I kind of expected this with GOG. Again. As a Linux user I'm kinda used to be second class there

Seriously last time I ever buy a game there that is not already 10 years old

Alright EGO... 7 hours and still nothing for us Linux Users. You need to step in and have a talk with GOG. Unacceptable.

Hey all it's like the middle of the Night for the Devs but I'm sure they are or will be working on it ASAP. Sorry for you guys on GOG having issues. Make sure you post on their forums as well to give them your 2 cents.

GOG are deleting any posts that call out the fact that they have not released the content.

Edit** Magically after posting here that they were deleting posts it all of a sudden shows back up.

Honestly that could be load balancing cache crap causing it to vanish / show up or some sort of advance auto moderation. I would not jump too fast assuming it's them deleting it.

So this is what GOG now shows me hours later when I select Windows:

And this is the list I get for Linux:
Spoiler
Show
Spiele-Installationsdateien und Updates:
X4: Foundations 4.00 13.4 GB
DLC-Installationsdateien:
X4: Split Vendetta 3.30 Hotfix 2 0.9 GB
This is not cache. This is the usual GOG experience for me

* I don't get Patch downloads (Deltas). It's re-download the whole thing again and again.
* I don't get same day (heck, at this point I can be glad I get same month - not acceptable for pre-order)
* I get version mixes (I'm sure that'll be just fine to try, what could possibly go wrong?)
* I do not get Galaxy installer (Even Mac users get that. Mac Gaming. In 2021. )

What I got yesterday was a nice countdown to DLC that told me to refresh page to get… nothing. So this is the DRM free revolution. As usual, the joke is on the paying customer.

Yeah, I am in the same spot and share every point you mention. I am not angry or so, but looking back... I should have bought it on Steam.

Mkay, I got tired of waiting to I started playing around with the Windows DLC.

* Installed **Linux** x4_foundations_4_00_45652.sh to /games/linux/X4_Foundations/
* Installed the package innoextract (v 1 . 8) (For me: dnf install innoextract)
* Put the **Windows** DLC files into /games/linux/X4_Foundations/game
setup_x4_cradle_of_humanity_4.00_(64bit)_(45636)-1.bin
setup_x4_cradle_of_humanity_4.00_(64bit)_(45636).exe
setup_x4_split_vendetta_4.00_(64bit)_(45636)-1.bin
setup_x4_split_vendetta_4.00_(64bit)_(45636).exe
* Extracted the **Windows** DLC files manually:

Code: Select all

cd /games/linux/X4_Foundations/game
innoextract --exclude-temp --extract setup_x4_split_vendetta_4.00_\(64bit\)_\(45636\).exe
innoextract --exclude-temp --extract setup_x4_cradle_of_humanity_4.00_\(64bit\)_\(45636\).exe
Run game, shows both DLC.
Selected Terrain Start and watched intro.
Reported back here :)

ymmv.

Almost 24 hrs later and for Linux I see X4 ver 4.0 But that's it. No COH dlc that I paid for and SV dlc is still showing 3.3

Looks like windows installers are all there.

I can also confirm that this method works. Thank you!

Got in touch with GOG Support, they said there are some issues with the DLC that they are trying to fix.

Glad that this works for you all too.

I have a hard time to wrap my head around what may possibly be the problem to throw this into a self extracting archive:

- "extensions/ego_dlc_terran/content.xml.sig"
- "extensions/ego_dlc_terran/ext_01.cat"

- "goggame-1238357884.hashdb"
- "goggame-1238357884.info"
…and since this is happening again and again I wonder when we will _finally_ get the chance to simply download a freakin archive only, like a 7z or tgz, that anyone can just extract without requiring a fancy tool that seems to have an issue to get integrated into their deployment pipeline :gruebel:

Fun fact: Extracting it this way was even faster.

Yea, I noticed - it was seconds to extract both archives.

The kids are in bed so finally I can experience 4.0 and CoH. :) Thanks again!

They now have Linux DLC files up tagged as `4.00 Preview B11HF3`

Whatever that may be.

Those files are there as a temporary solution by GOG while they sort out their installer problems. Luckily all the important files are identical to the release version, so you can safely use them while they get their act together on the final version.
