Game keeps freezing every few seconds - Devs on the case, workaround found.

Since about a week ago my game keeps getting stuck for a second every 3 or 4 seconds of fluid gameplay, it just get jammed on a regular few second base, making playing a nightmare.
I'm on a very advanced game with tons of stations and ships. I'm just using the paintjobs mod, and even disabling it doesn't help. I'm running a year 2020 i7 16 GB ram, SSD and RX Vega 56.

With so little information, the chances of being able to help are minimal. Please see the sticky threads at the top of the forum for the minimum information we'd need.

Regarding the problem itself, regular pauses could be something in-game or something outside the game stealing precious processor cycles, and if your game is modified it could be a mod that's causing it (disabling a mod doesn't necessarily remove all of its effects from a savegame).

If your game is genuinely unmodified then, assuming we can't spot anything in your DXDiag/vulkaninfo, your busy savegame might give us a chance to see what's going on.

yes, used some mods for a few time, "cheats" and the last version for split vendetta only to work around bugs in the old starting times, such as destroyed xenon stations not disappearing, or just to increase some station's managers and a few merchant pilot skills, "paintjobs for sell" mod is always on, and in the last week also "station module build time reduction" mod

the problem just happens always, the system resources panel doesn't show any high cpu, memory, disk usage, nothing wrong.

Can you try a fresh unmodified game start to see if the same stuttering occurs? Play for a few minutes to rule out any transient effects with the fresh start. If there is no such stutter in this fresh start then it is likely some state your save got into, possibly due to mods or due to a game bug, that is causing periodic freezes. If the fresh unmodified start shows the same problem then there is likely a compatibility problem with your system running X4, or some underlying problem with your system.

Hello, thanks for your reply, everything works fine in a new fresh start or even in a 30 days ago modded backup.
How can I recover the game from that state?

We're in the process of investigating your savegame. We've identified what's causing the freezes and will be working on improving that.

In the meantime, you should be able to improve the situation yourself somewhat by providing your many mining ships, and those truly enormous stations of yours, with some cargo drones. The lack of these drones is causing those ships to repeatedly try and fail to trade, and the resulting repeated order re-initialisation is the primary cause of the short freezes.

As I said above, we'll be working on improving things so that, even if you get yourself into this situation, the game will hopefully run somewhat more smoothly. We'll also be looking to try and make it clearer to players who fail to provide their ships and stations with cargo drones, why their mining and trading operations aren't working as well as they should be!

Oh thank you very much, I see I had a few station with many mining ships without cargo drones, now the game is running much better but still the game keeps freezing on regular basis. I'm going to have a second run and check if some more stations are left out drones.
Thanks for the tip, greatly appreciated, I realize endgame with such huge installations and these many ships are pretty hard to handle for the game.

By the way it would be great to have a tool to monitor those problems, like internal logs keeping track of failed commands, error messages or a real time monitor. Thanks again, take care

Update, now the game is not freezing anymore, it probably just took a couple hours to have the 40-50 miners take different paths and different docking times.
