[3.0][Bug] HAT Plot is stuck, Boso Ta bugged - Fixed in 3.10.

Description:
The HAT Plot in my game does not continue, after collecting the blackbox of Dal Buster. Teleporting to HQ and trying to talk to Boso Ta does not work either, as he does not react in any way.

Loaded the savegame.

Conditions for Boso to appear on the monitor and start the "Captain this is Boso Ta. Well I suppose... " scene on the monitor is
- wait ~20 minutes
- Don't be at the HQ
- Don't have active research running ( I cancelled the running one ) (!)

When Boso appeared on the monitor guidance change to go to HQ, go to the science room, see a little cutscene and now leave the HQ.


(with SV)Wait a few minutes and Dal will appear on the monitor and talk about a split opportunity. Shortly after that same happens for the paranid opportunity.
(without SV): You should only get the paranid opportunity.

Thank you for looking at the save. :) I tried what you said and sadly it didn't trigger the Paranid plot.

The Paranid plot does not trigger and I can't talk to Boso Ta either, as he is unselectable for me.
Before I reported it here, 3 L5-Testers had tried my save and none of them could trigger the plot as well. TVCD (I think you both talked with each other) was able to make Boso Ta talk again by just standing next to his fishtank, but was then stuck in an endless mission loop. However, that did not happen for me or the other ones, either.

Maybe this is fixed in an internal build? Or maybe this bug can only be bypassed by purchasing Split Vendetta? (Because the Split Vendetta plot triggering makes the Paranid plot trigger as well. Just a guess.)

Our UI guy tracked one issue why you can't talk to Boso, fix is being investigated.
I'll give it a try with the DLC disabled, see if I can get the paranid plot to trigger ( that should have worked, irrelevant if you can talk to Boso or not).

Ok... something crazy, but try this:

Start the game in windowed mode (not borderless!) and load your savegame.
Go to the headquarters, stand in front of boso and now now resize the window.
This will cause a short freeze and afterwards you can talk to Boso.

(this is a workaround obviously, but I suspect this will help get the story going again).

That.. 🤣 that worked 😂 For whatever reason.
Changing the window mode to any of the others, makes the NPCs selectable again. After the cutscene in the very same room, I had to do it again, as the NPCs went unselectable again.

Yeah, funny but working workaround. I don't know how you came up with this, or why this is working but I am not questioning it.

Is this the point where Dal enters the lab at PHQ? And when you click on him he says "How's it going?" What do you do after this?

I'm at the same point on a new Accomplished Scientist start, Dal is in the lab (I can talk to both boso ta and dal, they say hello), travelled all sectors around including SV sectors (and seen certain slave ship escaping but nothing else), everyone neutral ( 0 to +12) except ZYA who is -15 from start and Scale Plate -5, no research going on since before Boso Ta talked (stopping research is what unlocked him from talking after Dal's blackbox).

Looks like a bug, there is an icon of "Person of Interest" on an ARGon police ship right across the HAT headquarters where HAT questline started... and I have no quests active or inactive (except Historical Logs from boso ta before all this). Another icon on my PHQ. I scanned that police ship, used Comms, no special convo and no reaction to scans.

@ MichaelSephiroth: There has been a long-standing game issue that the yellow 'person of interest' icons do not get cleared up long after the missions that they involved have been completed and forgotten. The most frequent of those being Taxi missions where the target destination ship or station never loses its yellow icon after the delivery. I suspect that the one on your PHQ is from delivering or saving Boso.

I never did a secondary or guild mission in this playthrough, on further investigation it seems to be the police that contacts/talks to the trader you have to follow in HAT questline. So that is not related to my issue... of Dal not calling me again after setting up in my PHQ lab. Dont know what triggers the next step in this quest, I checked other's safe file who got called back by dal, I dont see any rep or exploration locks I can have. Just maybe have to wait (outside of sector) longer than 1-2 hours, doing other stuff ?

Edit: I keep waiting, 3 hours including SETA time, in a different system, got my rep up with hat, hop, par, arg, free families, etc... still no message from Dal telling me to come back for the split/paranid plots start.

Help please ?

We fixed another issue which sounds a lot like the situation you describe and which only happened with the Accomplished Scientist start. This should be fixed in the next build (check the changelog to be sure).
