[2.60B1] Intended? Station traders buy order > sell order - WAI, explained.

Post by Tamina » Fri, 13. Sep 19, 10:04

My station has 10.000 hull parts.
The stations' Shakuya comes in and buys 1.500 hull parts.
It has an immediate sell order of only 400 hull parts. (?)
After that it starts distributing the rest of its cargo bay one by one in more and more tiny amounts to different stations.

Is this intended behaviour?
If so, I am questioning why the Shakuya is not using its whole cargo bay to load up 3.000 hull parts but only half of it.

Could it be that the original sell order was for 1,500 but for some reason or another the buy order pool was modified before the ship arrived? In such a case it may have been left being able to sell just 400 of them and then proceeded to sell off the remainder in storage as normal by searching for sell offers. The behaviour of ships selling cargo they are stuck holding was added a few patches ago.

Confirm intended. They only fill up to half in case they are later unable to sell off all of their stock. Exception is if they find a single buy offer that goes above half of their maximum storage capacity.

Would this behavior not be detrimental to the moral stat of the pilot and or manager as it only clears half of the cargo hold?

Or am I missing something iirc there floated the concept of efficiency of trades are tight into stat experience gains?

It might slow down experience gain rate, but that is already pretty slow. It might also speed up experience gain rate since the ship is buying a lot less frequently.

Just so it's clear:

If Station (S) has a subordinate trading ship (A),
A can carry 100 smart chips,
S wants to sell 1000 smart chips,
And A finds a buyer that wants 100 smart chips,

it will load up on 100 smart chips.

If A finds a buyer that only wants 20 smart chips,

it will load up on 50 smart chips and keep selling them until it can't or the station needs something important.

Prior behavior:
If A finds a buyer that only wants 20 smart chips,

It will load up on 20 and do just that trade.

So, if anything, experience gain should increase from that higher volume initial trade and the faster selling. The change in experience gain just results from the behavior change rather than serving as a driver for it, however.
