Lino suggested on Reddit that we might see Split ships this year...

I would hope for a combined boron/split DLC, as the Split are the old main nemesis of the Boron, but we shall see.

since they dont need to make split people and only ships and modules split is logical, but boron not so much for the first DLC
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

well the dlc is not coming tommorow, or anytime soon so yea lets kill this thread too ;)

Or a Split DLC, with the Boron launching a Pearl Harbour esque assault on their sector as their introduction at the end of a mission chain!

That's me btw (surprise surprise).

Was really happy after seeing this kind of reply as Split had my favorite designs...I kinda hope they don't mess it up too hard. Split just remind me of "Brutalism". It has its' own charme but most thinking beings would probably just think "yuck"

All ship designs needs a HUGE overhaul, because now they're all the same.

Argon was always "medium" in all things, best at nothing and avarage cargo, dependably combatships.
Split were always poor shielding, weak anti-fighter, but alot of big guns and poor cargo, fast ships.
Paranid is a warrior race mostly, but desent shielding, alot of weapons but poor carriers and avarage cargo.
Teladi are traders, strong shielding to protect their cargo, HUGE ships to hold more cargo.. more profitzz.. semi-desent anti fighter, superior cargospace.

Xenon are just... guns guns guns and weaponsgenerator that rivals any sun's energyoutput, strong shields but weak hull.
Of all the things i've lost, i miss my mind the most.

If the formula is right, they'll be my to-go fighter-ships anyway. They always were. But your wording of "to go race ships" now has me all curious about player ships. :D

If Pulsar has 6 weapon mounts the I assume Split will have 8 or 10 on theirs.
Paranid and Teladi fighters with their 3 weapons mounts looks kinda lame.

Maximum number of weapons is 8. This is a UI limit.

If the split ships are as modular as the other races, & can be as tuned as them, I'd be surprised if they are not immediate ship#1 in anyone's fleet, although, I am enjoying my argon colossus and nemesis fleet. both ship hulls are great in my opinion, I'll go for a toadstool next I think.
But wonderful, I'm really looking forwards to the split ships.

A functioning Capital ships too...And turrets that shoot something else than pop corn...and mass crew transfer...and crew training...and Xenon buff.

I know this probably excites the Vets, but as someone who knows very little about the Lore it doesn`t really excite me. I`m not even sure which ones are the Split... Is it the long faced, all-female aliens I see sometimes running about on the Stations?

I don`t see anything about them to get especially excited about.
