1.0 HF1 LAG massive framedrops while walking around on docks and doing EVA
Hello,
I am running X4 in the version 1.0(323021) in english and vanilla. My gamestart is the untested explorer and i have 5h of ingame playtime.
I have updated my GPU driver 1 day before the games release. There are no crash logs in the X4 folder.
I am expiriencing massive performance issues while i am walking around a docking platform or doing an EVA.
The game is lagging massively, with more than 10 seconds between frames. This kicks in instantly after leaving the ship in an EVA and after around 1 minute while walking around in a dock.
While doing the EVA there are stable phases, where i can actually do something, but those stable phases are not persistent. When i have returned to my ship the lagging stops.
While walking around the lagging starts after about a minute and is persistent, even after getting back into my ship. At that point i have to restart the game to continue playing normally, but the issue occures the next time i start walking around again.
This does not occure, if i stay in my seat while docked.

I'm a second person that's having this issue; drivers up-to-date and no crashlogs to be had--cuz the game doesn't actually crash. But there's definitely an issue going on here.

Hi,
I'm having the same problem here. For me, this happens sometimes when I go far from my ship while docked to a station, but everytime when I teleport to an other station room.
If I dont go too far from my ship, everything seems fine to me, until I go to an other room where the problem appears instantly.
My drivers are updated as well, and I basically have the minimum system requirements.
I would add that when this happens, the game doesn't seem to be working that hard if I'm monitoring it, and everything else in my computer still runs smoothly.
This happens with any graphical settings.

From all the dxdiag I've looked at from people with this issue, we all seem to have (very) old processors ><, yet I'm the only one I saw without an AMD fx-83xx...

Hi,
same problem here, sometimes it happens also while undocking from a station.

Re: massive framedrops while walking around on docks and doing EVA
after some more testing I can give a bit more information.
On my end this issue occures regardless of distance to the ship.
Changing graphics settings does not resolve the issue, i have tried changing VSync, AA and overall quality.
It would be nice, if the other people haviung these issues, could post a DxDiag and Vulcanifo. That could help the devs to resolve this issue.

@boreas.real: I suspect that if you check your VRAM usage in-game, you may see it maxing out when you start to get lag. You have 2GB VRAM on your card whilst the minimum-recommended is 3-4 GB.

No i have 4GB GDDR5 on my graphics card. The DxDiag as well as the NVIDIA systeminformation say so. <Sorry, I misread it. Alan Phipps>
edit:
I have watched my resource monitor while this issue occured. Everything else was closed.
None of my components maxed out. The CPU only used about 30% and the RAM even less.
My GPU run at about 21%, while 2.5GB out of 4GB dedicated videomemory was used.

I think i have the same issue. Instead of writing i'll just show:
(Administrator could add "adding video" option in forum)
Youtube Video
Version of game is visible in video ( 1.10 path somehow helped. ) As seen on video i changed video settings from ultra to low and there was no change in performance.
I don't think Graphic settings have anything to do with it.

yep, that's it. It's just way more persistent on my end. The patch helped a little at doing EVAs and somehow the issue starts only, if I get to far from the ship while docked, but it isn't resolved.
Pre patch it started regardless of distance to the ship. I am also getting CTD while saving, if I make an input while saving, like pressing a key for example.

Hey,
As stated in this thread, the problem seems to be linked with sound drivers.
On my end, I just deactivated NVIDIA high definiton audio in the device manager and it did the trick !
Try fiddling around with audio stuff.

sadly this didn't fix the issue for me. It did fix the EVA issues, but not the docking issue.

Same here, walking on stations is still a pain due to these lag spikes...boreas.real wrote: ↑Sun, 2. Dec 18, 16:11 sadly this didn't fix the issue for me. It did fix the EVA issues, but not the docking issue.
EDIT: still experiencing heavy lag spikes during EVAs

Re: 1.0 HF1 LAG massive framedrops while walking around on docks and doing EVA
Yeah no sorry, I was mistaken.
I did something that worked once but couldn't figure what exactly.
I still think it HAS something to do with sound drivers tho, if I disable ALL the sound drivers in the device manager, it definitely fixes the problem (and the game runs muuuuuuuuch more smoothly even with my 10 years old cpu, like very smoothly), but then I have to play without sound sooooo, not ideal.
Sorry for the false hope.

disabeling RealTek drivers seems to fix the problem.
My setup allows me to plug my entire sound system into my monitor and use the NVIDIA sound driver.
Now the Devs know where to look.

Hey,
For folks like me who can't do anything with the drivers and don't have jack on their monitor (and to hopefully help devs fix this as well), simply lowering the sample rate and bit depth from the sounds settings worked for me.
Thx for the help guys !

It Works!
Haven't pinned down all the Bit/Sample settings that are accepted. But I went into my RealtekHD Sound 'Properties' >> 'Advanced' and reduced my Sample Rate and Bit depth to 16 Bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality) Which seems to have solved the Issue.
Docking/Walking Around = No Lag
Interior Stations Sections = No Lag
EVA Spacesuit = No Lag
