hello everyone. i'm relatively new to X3 & LU and have been enjoying the mod immensely. just a quick question.
i've been acquiring money and experience by performing combat missions for argon. some of the targets were terran, and thus they dislike me now to the point where i cannot venture into their systems without coming under fire. i think i'm at -2 or -3.
is there an effective way to increase reputation with factions that are hostile to you?
thanks!

So my game kept crashing after I flew in our out of a sector and It is Ringo Moon, Right now in Ringo Moon there is a Xenon C. My game does not like Xenon C's and used to freeze up every time one spawned but now it keeps crashing... Is there a easy way to fix this or is there at least a way to fix this and I get to keep my progress?
Edit: Or its Xenon P's one just spawned in the sector I'm in and the game froze
Edit 2: and it keeps freezing when I have SETA at 1000% and the sector map open

What mods are you using?
Sounds like you have 2 options:
1. go back to an earlier save before it started crashing
2. or do an Export/Import, this will effectively start a new game but it will restore all your assets (stations, ships, wares on ships/stations, financial accounts, race relationships, etc)

Could anyone assist me with this install on Linux?
Linux Mint 18, GOG:
1. Brand new Install
2. Copy to /home/username/LitCube/X3 Terran War Pack
3. Directory structure for current GOG install is a little different; exe's are in the game folder
4. Added X3AP_n.exe to game folder along side other exe files
5. Verified that there is no GameStarts.pck
6. Executed installer: wine LitcubesUniverseV1.7.1.exe
7. Browse to game folder (installer via wine assigns it the letter Z... wondering about that.)
8. Hit next and get message: "X3: Albion Prelude does not exist in that folder..."
Any thoughts on what I can do here?
Thanks

Try 'touch X3AP.exe' rather then 'X3AP_n.exe', the installers were updated a while back.droidilate wrote:Could anyone assist me with this install on Linux?

And how do I do an Export/Import? I remember seeing a setting somewhere for it but I can not find it

Site forum software - Thanks, Posting/listing topics or problems/answers (huh, I should be so...) right, will have to remember that. If it appears 'elsewhere' and I spot it, I'll delete and try again.
Secondly - 'Plutarch' thingy that was it - couldn't recall exact name of the tractor but that's the one I meant (for sale only in those two places I'd mentioned previously).
Now then, thankfully, I had presence of mind to copy the entire script folder (all 'something Gb' of it!) immediately after modding the basic with LU mod, update patch etc etc so, I copied that across to restore and then reinstalled the E/I and ran the game. Didn't wait for any game crashes (always a risk if pasting a new script folder that lacked the later additions). Hey presto - Export worked and created the '8382-L044' file. Sadly, I don't seem able to copy this to a back-up folder even though I've since closed the game, rebooted PC and so on.
Now another problem has arisen - Unlike previous installations from my Warpack DVDs, this recent attempt resulted in NOT being able to choose my own destination folder and secondly, it insisted upon creating a 'steam' folder and despite being 9Gb in size, I couldn't locate the familiar 'Egosoft/AP....' folder with all the usual things I'd expect to see even though such a size would indicate that AP was there 'somewhere'. Strangely, I wasn't asked for the TC or AP activation codes this time around.
Consequently, I couldn't apply the LU mod to a game I couldn't find. Be mindful that I still have the 'original' LU game installed. Question then given the above - should I uninstall and remove the extant game before installing (yet again) from the DVDs? Also - would the export reference file remain if I uninstall 'game #1'?
Have any 'Warpack' users reading this carried out a successful LU conversion and if so, HOW THE BLOODY HELL DID YOU MANAGE IT? Note: Warpack consists of two DVDs and installation of TC is mandatory before being 'allowed' to install AP. The Bonus Pack is installed by default without mention of it during installation of either game. I'BP' can be uninstalled afterwards but, forums elsewhere suggest that this doesn't always mean that LU mod will work flawlessly.
When I finally gave up last night, I looked outside to see the sun was up and yours truly had clearly been at this all through the night. So, before anyone thinks I've not invested effort before approaching a forum...

If you're redirected to the forum index page when trying to reply to a topic, delete your browser cache. This usually fixes the problem.
As for realising whether you're about to create a new topic or a reply to an existing thread: If the forum software won't let you submit your post without a title, you're in the process of creating a new topic. New topics require titles, replies to an existing one do not. Also when you scroll down below the text field, you should see previous posts if you're replying to an existing thread.

Loving this "mod". One persistent problem though. I don't hear any music. (Linux Mint 18/GOG)
- I ran the soundtrack installer (twice even)
- The new sounds files are in the "...game/soundtrack" directory (not addons)
- The soundtracks play fine in the vanilla game and are in the same relative location.
- Sound/Music settings are maxed
- I did not use the language argument in the launcher
- I don't even hear music in the game menu where you select and start a new game (though I do hear the standard music in the intro movies as the game starts up)
- I do hear the sound of ships and voices
Any ideas (maybe there's a log file somewhere I can look at)?
Thanks

Ah, yes - this is missing from the wiki. I'll add it.
The codec that is used by the files in the soundtrack isn't compatible with the linux version, you will need to convert the files to ogg vorbis. Unfortunately i dont have any instructions on how to do that conversion (if you figure it out please let me know!)
You can create an X3AP.exe somewhere else, and run the soundtrack installer there to get just the music files it adds, but from there - you will need to find a way to batch convert all the files in the folder from mp3 to ogg. (then you may need to rename them to .mp3 because, reasons... lol)

Video Error?
So I was opening up X3ap to play some and I keep getting an Error that says:
Error opening video.
Check your Display Settings!
Further information can be found in the manual or readme.txt!
I changed no video settings or any settings... Is there an easy way to fix this?

Are your graphics drivers installed or were updated since last playing?kecin25 wrote:-
Has the DirectX9 installer been run on your OS?
Is a valid video resolution set in the settings launcher?
(Sorry of these questions sound patronizing, i am being serious).
This problem isn't caused by LU or any mod directly (except perhaps the EMS dll), Something may be with your system configuration.

Re: Video Error?
I had a graphics driver update a few days ago and never restarted the computer, the game was working until yesterday. I restarted my PC because some other games would not work and now it is functioning properly. Thanks for the help!Jack08 wrote:Are your graphics drivers installed or were updated since last playing?kecin25 wrote:-

Ok, I got it working. here's what I did (on Linux Mint 18 ):
1. Convert all of the mp3s to oggs (this took about 10 minutes):
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install dir2ogg
dir2ogg /path_to_game/soundtrack
Code: Select all
mv *.mp3 ./originals
Code: Select all
rename 's/\.ogg$/\.mp3/' *.ogg

Freezing on Defend Sector Missions
My game keeps freezing when I am doing Defend the Sector Missions. This is one of my ways to get ships to capture and sell. Does anyone know why it keeps freezing and how to fix it?

So thinking of staring a new game but are there any compatible takeover sector mods with litcube. I know about the other mod mayhem but it takes away options only available in this one like the Saturn complex. I want to truly wipe out the pesky xenon and argon from spawning for the glory of the priest emperor.
