[4.21 HF1] Touch Controllers just hanging there

So, I took the batteries out of the Touch Controllers. Game knows this as it shows the Xbox controller in the loading screen. Latest version of the game, Latest Nvidia 1060 drivers, 16MBs Ram, i5 6600 - so why are these in my eyeline, fixed there, constant, like a dying quantum state...

Nothing gets rid of them, short of replacing the batteries in the Touch controllers, but then I lose the ability to fire where looking with the HOTAS if they're live...
