someone tell me.... i tried 1.2, it was meh.. but it was unfinished so ok...

when 2.0 came. no changelog was ever done.... so when i played it, i couldent tell a single diffrence between the 2 versions.

now theres 2.2 still no changelog.

so someone please tell me, what is actually added??

im debating between XRM or this... but i played XRM to death so i wanna try something new whilst waiting for X rebirth to be fixed up.

but i wont unless someone tells me whats the diffrence between 1.2 and 2.0..... or 2.2 now

IIRC a few months ago I tried with a slightly earlier XTC (just 2.0 ?) version without problems but stopped playing for a while. Cannot for the life of me recall how I installed but most probably used crossover to install into the steam/linux directory (not sure whether had to rename Scripts to scripts or some such afterwards).

I've started playing AP with XRM at the moment but will hop over to XTC in a little. Actually, given that I've used git I could just rollback and try XTC again if you'd like (and haven't solved it in the meantime) ?

@adrianx Thanks for the offer. I've been using XRM AP on that VM too. If you could, at a later date, let me know how XTC works out for you, I'd appreciate it.

So I setup a new git branch based upon steam AP 3.1 then installed using the following :-

http://www.thexuniverse.com/threads/239 ... ix-2-2a%29

I basically installed everything to addon apart from objects and soundtrack which were installed in the main directory. I'd attach a git-diff with the names of all the added/modified files but am unsure how to do so (if possible).

X3AP started and shows XTC as being installed, I flew around to a couple of different sectors without problems, lots of stations and ships so perhaps the files should be installed to addon ? The instructions seem to indicate that the initial files have to be installed in the base directory not addon.

The fact you have problems with this and X3TC may indicate a different problem though.

All right, thanks! I'll give it another run.

EDIT: I tried it again, strangely enough, this third time was the charm. Extracted data from the TC 2.0 executable. Overrode the conflicting files, patched TC to 2.2, repeated it with AP and the hotfix and it worked. Probably a broken file or transfer was interfering. Oh well. It works now, thanks for your time (@adrianx).

So I tried again using the exact instructions this time, ie. install XTC 2.0 and 2.2 to base directory then install AP "patches" to the mixture of base and addon; "worked" just as well as the first method (although with such a short test theres no knowing what might be broken with either method) . Given this is the method others seem to be using, will stick with it instead. Time to checkout the XRM branch again - got to love controlling installs with git !

Well I can say after week with 2.2a X-Tended (on classic TC without AP) there is only one issue which spoils the fun.

Random crashes to desktop linked with buzz coming from speakers*. I read somewhere that it is a bailing issue. Not in my case. It happens pretty much every time substantial battle is under way with me as part of it (e.g. mercenary missions). As such I try to avoid anything above Easy because I know there is high degree of probability that it will crash (e.g. it happens 90% of times when I try to fight Yaki and they jump with 20 or 30 ships (missiles spam) into the sector - game just goes AWOL instantly).

* - as for annoying buzz from speakers I worked out simple solution. Before starting X-T, I open Control Panel>Sound, video, game controllers. When game crashes - 2 simple steps: Disable sound card and then Enable sound card. Et voilà! No need to restart PC. Why I didn't find out that earlier?

ITS-PSCO1-Shawn Cockpit Mod works fine if you use the X3TC_CP_Basic - which, although the name may not say so, it works with AP and most mods.

Never heard of such a bug. I am pretty sure that your installation is somehow corrupt. What does the textline on your screen say, when you start the game and begin to play ? What colour is the text displayed in ?
Did you install ANY other scripts ?
I only have this bug with the x3ap version, the x3tc works fine.

Hello, I'm new in X3. I have played some hours and I'm starting to understand a bit. I'm playing with X-tended. I see the galaxy is different. Am I doing wrong by playing with X-tended being newbie? I see there are a lot of improvements, and the graphics look better.

So, should I play with x-tended or better without it?

I have been playing extended for some time now, and I believe my install is functional (Blue 2.2- , and green r). New ships etc, but same x music as always...

Any ideas would be appreciated...

I get this when I try to use the AP experimental. Argon prime sector music plays for every sector and is also playing vanilla combat music. I've tried a fresh install with patch and hotfixes but this problem persists, any help would be great.

Is there anywhere to download this mod from that doesn’t require torrent software? The direct download link is broken.

Only a question regarding plots inside XTended.

I am coming back to 'good old TC' after the disappointed Rebirth (even sold away my Collectors edition after I tried...)

So, what I missed onto the description page.
- Are there any plots involved to eg get the Hub, is it available.
- none generic missions, like in TC?
- Xtended only missions (not the generic ones)?

- There are plots, which won't start until several days into a new game, though.
- There is no hub.
- There are the well-known Vanilla style generic missions (except of station building missions), as well as additional types of generic missions.
