Best Hud mode so far !!!

I have a question though .

Is it possible to see the missile or weapon stats displayed on the hud ?
I ve been searching and searching for these options , failed so far.

Could you implement this on a future version or would you suggest any solution ?

I was suggested to use Gazz MIssile Display Data script but it is not cooperating with me lol

Hoplon, try Missile Data Display for missile data on your HUD.

Also, since I just recommended this mod in another forum topic, I should say congrats on a nice mod. Here is a picture of a messy fight, that shows how your mod really cleans it up and makes finding your target easier. Hint: its the tiny fighter at the top right of screen :)

First I must say that I absolutely love your mod. It really helps with immersion.

Might I add something? I'm currently using X3 Rebalanced Mod and have noticed that quite a few stations have the wrong icon. A few examples that I can remember were factories labeled as ION and IRE on the icon that were in fact missile factories or some such. I am assuming this is because the rebalance mod changes the identity of certain stations? I'm not exactly sure if this is true, but was my assumption.

do the same installation instructions on the title thread hold true for those of us installing this into an AP install, or should we install it into a different folder?

Yes, installation instructions for both AP and TC are the same.

Hey there, seen this mod working on videos and whatnot, but I can't get it to work on my AP installation at all. I've been playing X3 for a while and have just decided to dive into getting one or two mods / scripts installed. I've copied the files across (and created a "dds" folder in my X3:TC folder), according to your instructions but no magic occurs and I'm still stuck with the default HUD. Not entirely sure what else I'm supposed to do?

It's not just your mod either, I'm also have issues getting this simple script to load too: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=180473 I mean, both that one and yours is a simple copy and paste, yet I seem to be messing them up somehow! :o

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If it helps, I've got a vanilla install of AP, I've successfully got XRM 1.29 installed, but I'm not aware that there's any issue or compatibility problem with that?

I was having the same issue, or so I thought. Correct me if I am wrong...

Look closer, and you will see the HUD is there, but it is overlaying the cockpit mod that you installed.

Heh, I started to work on new version immediately after that :)

however added link to older versions.
UPDATED 24.07.2013

in v3 I've made a LOT of TINY changes, please feel free to comment.
The main ideas of this mod -
1) laconic as it possible
2) clear visibility for target marks, target arrows, gravidar.
3) only necessary reticles
4) station icons back to vanilla size
5) .... something else... - better try it to find out :)

The mod includes 3 dds files - interface itself, and 3 jpg files - recolored to blue AP "loading" stripes and X3TC splash screen fixed for 16:9 resolution - always hated oval earth-view.

inspired by XTC and XRM mods - I'm a big fan of both.

Spent 1 more sleepless night on this. v4 is PERFECT. Now I can go back to XTC.

P.S. If you don't like glowing effect on main font, just delete /f folder

Nice work Familiar

I have been a fan of this HUD since V2

There are a couple of changes in V3 and V4 which I wasn't too keen on, but they are your preference .. So decided to have a go at a few changes myself ..

The only thing I did not feel was just right in all of those versions, was the Glow

I personally found it to be just a shade too much, needed just a couple of pixels shaved off the edge of the glow effect and re-anti-aliased for all the ship icons

I am not going to be posting this elsewhere, but if you are happy to provide this as an extra choice for anyones use please feel free to use it.

For a comparison of what has been done : Open the following screenshots individually in new tabs, so you can flick between them ..

I liked the different coloured Mouse graphics in V2 so preserved them in my version

In V4 you brought back the large station icons which was nice
But changed the mouse
New target indicators are nice too, but slightly bright
Also the A to indicate Auto-Pilot engaged was just a bit bright

Here is my adaptation of your V4 ..

Applied a very slight Gaussian filter to some of the reticules, to make the brightness of all elements consistent
Lowered slightly the brightness of the A
Brought back the Mouse icons from V2
Made the target indicators short again ( without the yellow blob underneath them )
And reduced the glow and brightness very slight on all the ship icons ( used Layer / Transparency / Subtract from Selection, then re-anti-aliased the edges of all the fading opaque edges )
And a couple of other touches for brightness consistency

Saved the dds as ABGR8 format ( uncompressed )

Familiar : Feel free to add this as a choice in the first post if you are happy with it, I have not changed any of the graphics in the other files of your mod, just the gui_master.dds

I'll change ship icons glow in v5. Wait... , already done.
As for " the yellow blob " I agree, it sucks.
But in general I like to see that arrows clear in dogfights (hard to see red on red). So yellow part will in place with changed shape.
And "target out of screen" reticle getting changed too.

Now trying to sort out station icons. The main idea:
Pilot should notice with ease 3 thing on sector map-
EQ dock, shipyard and Solar powerplant.
And I would like to replace some icons (like tech factories), but it's rather hard task.

Sure, I can add your version to main post, it is good to have alternative.
I'll do it when release v5 (in next 1-3 days)

:) Sounds good, the only thing I still find which irks me about the version I did was the "Target out of screen" arrows aswell, if they are .. Hmm using a clock face if they are 12 oclock, 3 oclock, 6 oclock or 9 oclock on screen they look okay ( there are a couple of pixels still dont look quite right )

The thing that irks me with them is when they go anywhere in between those positions, the angle distorts the chevrons so they are not a perfect

The trailing edge of the lead chevron kind of merges slightly with the next chevron

A bit OCD of me really :)

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the stations. Sounds good.

Those new station icons look good ..

Maybe a 'slight' touch of Unsharp Mask ?

Edit : For anyone who wants it, here's a modified version of the last alternative to v4, this one has Familiars v5 station icons, and Familiars newer incoming missile indicator. I also redid those target out of screen arrows in my version of v4 which I wasn't satisfied with.
