Well for one the Marlin had its cargo size upped. Haven't really looked closer yet but either way Tships has been updated. If you modded that file best to either remake your mod (if small) or get a precise changelog for the T file(s) needing an update.
I'm not going to ask what mod/Steam debate you're referring to, both because I should find it myself and for the fire such debate would invite on an update thread, but the last issue I noticed regarding this was in 2.5, where the problem only arose for people using fake patches to mod. Carefully merging/recreating your install and if all else fails manually managing fake patches or applying updates to new T files should fix the issue. Many mod authors are proactive about updating their mods, and some have dev access leading to better forewarning.

Marlin is the only thing that actually was changed. Y'know, I was pissed at losing my saves again, despite removing all my fake-patch mods, but then I saw this:

I was wondering why a pair of Mosquito missile defense bombers could hold off a group of RRF M7M's.RRF missile volleys: RRF ships can launch missiles at several enemies at once

Nothing quite like features working effectively. Very happy to have a good use for M8s with Mosquito Missiles, personally. About starting as a Terran, I might have asked this before but is getting all the Terran plot benefits contingent on the Terran Commander start that gives you a Katana, or would an Aldrin Adventurer start have the same benefits? Specifically I'm referring to war announcements, as in expectation more will be more added there later I'd rather not lose out by picking the wrong start.

Terran Commander starts you off with a Katana, which... is pretty bad to be honest. It's got 1GJ shields, but it's really slow. Your only real corvette class weapon is the M/AML, which is pretty good, but ammo-based and there's only like 2 working MA/AM Ammo Fabs (The third is literally in the middle of nowhere) and shipyards don't sell it, so good luck staying equipped.
Then there's the fact that the Terran sectors basically suck. No police license means no money for aiding the war effort, no marine outposts means no capping ships, Trans-Orbital Accelerators mean no jumpdrives and coupled with big sectors...
If anything, just sell the Katana, fly to Aldrin, and buy a Springy. At least the Aldrin adventurer start hands you a Spitfyre.

Just as well to do that then. I already have an Aldrin Adventurer start going with a good deal of time put into it but whatever, at least the Terrans have better options now. Mysteriously barring CLS purchasing opportunities (that's just part of the fun to add from S&M) the field seems fairly equivalent across all starts now, an area seeming almost malevolently lacking for the longest time. Might just play an Argon start again at this rate!

@ Maclarium: Run the Steam verify gamefiles cache tool on X3TC and X3AP separately. Then restart the Steam Client if nothing happens straight away. Hope that Steam finishes an incomplete update.
PS: Your saves are being reported corrupted since the update, or since you installed the BP? If the latter, was it the X3AP BP and not the TC one, and did you put it into the correct Steam TC 'addon' folder?

I only have X3AP installed with Bonus Pack before 2.5.1 update. 2.5.0 ran just fine. @ Maclarium: Thanks for the info. If you have or had no 3rd Party mods or scripts (even old ones for TC or AP now thought to be uninstalled) besides the correct BPs then I suggest that you post in Tech Sp giving the info asked for in the first Announcement there and I will see you over there. You will need to register X3TC, X3AP or the SuperBox with the forums to post in Tech Sp.
