glenmcd wrote:Following on from fps benchmarking test results two messages up, following is the combined results from AP and TC vanilla runs, plus an 80 sector run in Albion Prelude with generic missions disabled. Unfortunately AP CTD'd in sector #80, while I still had around 27GB of mem free. Going back to the raw figures and then using first and last 5 sectors, the AP no mission run achieved 429.4 fps average for the first five sectors and 431.8 fps average for the last five. Sector #80 achieved 627 fps, over six times higher than the max fps in any of sectors 71 - 80 in vanilla AP run (101) and same with vanilla TC run (99).

When I complete a no missions TC run I'll edit this post to include it. In case you're wondering what the point of all this is, I'm trying to provide something to backup my contention that both AP and TC can have excellent performance if only the generic mission bottlenecks are addressed, even on old / cheap computers. Like the one that you replaced when you thought doing so would improve X3 performance.
Really interesting... Looking forward to some more of your benchmarking :)

But I have not been doing many missions at all have only completed 25 actually and still experiencing the FPS issue...

Good research. I would recommend an edit to the thread title to catch the Egosoft Devs' eyes. Maybe something like 'Latest Vanilla X3TC & X3AP FPS Loss by Missions over Jumps - Graphs'

just have to ask.

are there any generic missions that might be safe?

If I have understood correctly, only way to prevent the slowdown in unmodified game is to stay in one sector.

Re taxi mission connection: I couldn't duplicate this in my games. I disabled all generic missions except the two taxi types. Completed 50 taxi missions and transported 200+ passengers. changed sector about 50 times. Framerate was then 220. Then I disabled all except convoy missions, changed sector 50 times without accepting any missions. Framerate was 12. The no missions run at 50 sectors has framerate around 500. Not saying CBJ is incorrect, just adding to the bulk of info available to assist the debugging team.

I agree while I'm incapable of being able to "confirm" these results... But I just do not see the missions being the only or major culprit... While they may contribute to the issues I have 200+ some in games hour play and 108 or so real world hour play... It wasn't until I began to explore the universe and start to set up a Satellite network that it began... The reason I don't believe Missions are a Major contributor at least in my case is the fact I have only completed 26 missions at this point. I wish I would have left frame rates on all the time but they were so consistent for such a long time and the game was not stressing my system so the need to monitor my GPU and CPU heat was also not needed so i turned them off ... I don't recall a general decrease as it seemed more like hitting a brick wall... game went from fine to sluggish so I turned it back on to see a staggering loss in FPS and changing all the settings from Max to Min causes no effect on FPS.

...... Still looking forward to X-Rebrith though :D but it looks like I may be going back to TC for a good while which sucks I've gotten use to the larger menu system... and the improved boarding as I sucks at it in TC

Just to clarify, is this only concerning taxi missions and combat?

I am experiencing it too after starting the war plot immediately and the second mission i did was already unplayable.....

did never accept an taxi missions though

few spikes when on SETA and mouse is not smooth but that could be driver related....

might post my stats up here, vanilla + adv complx hub fake patch mod, 1.0b patched

thanks

Aren't there three taxi missions? Two Think and One Trade.

You may be thinking of one of the non-generic missions (part of corporation plot etc). I'm not aware of performance issues with mission types other than generic but I haven't looked closely at them either. All the generic mission types are triggered in director/3.01 Generic Missions. The missions I disabled were 103 and 130.

Assuming you're responding to me; I don't know the misison IDs, or much of anything else for that matter, but there are two types of Think Taxi missions, one the player must have a TP and the other, any ship (with Cargo Life Support and space) will work. The third mission, a Trade Mission usually carrying multiple passengers.

I don't know if the two Think Taxi missions are, internally, the same or not. Just askin'.

@Shootist, I've only been dealing with the generic missions where they're triggered and while there are groupings there they are subdivided in other scripts. What you're referring to (TP or any) is of course very important at player level.

@ Vayde: My recommendation was for clarity and presentation in that hard data was available here (there being quite a few unsolved Slow/Lag/Low FPS threads in this forum) and was obviously aimed at the author of the OP, ie omik.

If you have something you strongly feel the need to communicate about my recommendation then please feel free to PM me - I don't bite.

Oh well, that’s it for me.

Kingdoms End started at 60fps (looking at roids), I’m now down to 12-14fps everywhere, slideshow.

No empire, no factories, just one EQ Dock and a handful of ships.

Have same issue. After ~240h play game, fps drops to 20-25 in everywere.
But I made only 1 (one) taxi mission and plot not started yet.

Total Sectors Visited: 119
Jumpgates passed: 359

94 hours played.

Vanilla game with AP bonus pack from Egosoft.

12 stations linked to a complex in Herron.

10 TS's on MK3
5 TS's on CAG

One 0% Hull, 0% shield pirate Nova and a massive Argon fleet doing disco in Elena.

Started main story plot. Did a few escorts and build missions.

Good fps in new games.

Win7Pro 64bit
Core2QuadExtreme QX6700
8GB Ram
EVGA Geforce GTX470SC w 290.53 Driver
HT Omega Claro+ Soundcard

Just discovered the game on steam couple days ago, never knew such an immersive sim existed. Love it. Finally a game to get the dust off my logitechextreme3dpro. Hope the fps drag gets fixed, and also a way to remove the godmode pirate nova.

For people having issues. Jump to a empty/xenon/khaak with no missions and change your name to.

Thereshallbewings

Then go to gameplay>mission director>reset mission director.

If your Fps shot up when you did this then egosoft knows about this bug already. You can play with this however it will make your game modified.

This is very big news. A simple fix for getting your frame rate back to normal.

It deserves a new topic entry of its own. I’m posting this info on the main forum :) :)
