Hello, I downloaded this mod and tried to follow your instructions as best I could. Here is what my cat/dat files look like.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
1 thru 13 = core game cat/dats.
14 = ITS_X3TC_CP_Basis_5
15 = ITS_X3TC_Full_CP_27
16 = X3TC_Basicpatch_51
17 = X3 Unleashed RC 2
My Plug-In Manager has these:
Installed Scripts: [4/4]
Explorer Command Extension
Explorer Command Extension - Deploy Satellite Network
Factory Complex Constructor
Universal Best Buys/Sells Locator
There are 0 Fake Patches listed in the Plug-In Manager.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think any of these should conflict with each other. I am getting either hangs or crashes when I try to load my saved game when I try to use the cockpit mod (14, 15, and 16 for me).
I can hear the ship's computer go "beep beep" (the sound you hear when you first load a game, or hit Enter/Escape to access the sidebar) when it's done loading the saved game, but then it either hangs on the Loading Screen or CTDs (Crashes To Desktop). Crashes to Desktop is all it does now actually, it was only hanging when I was trying to also add PSCO1_no_Info_Radar, but I gave up on that for now.
Can anyone give some advice on what I may be doing wrong? Does it matter that I'm docked at my own Solar Power Plant, in Unknown (Avarice)?
Also, if I can get this mod working, I'd like to add PSCO1_no_Info_Radar. Can I just give this one the next number ( 18 ) and it would work?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: Saw the tip earlier in the thread about using a spacesuit in an empty sector.
So I deleted your mods (14, 15, and 16) and renamed "Unleashed" to 14, bought some salvage insurance in Heretic's End and jumped to the Unknown Sector south of Menelaus's Oasis. No ships or stations there, just asteroids. Then I ejected from my ship and saved.
Then I reinstalled your mods, came back and reloaded and it worked!
I used the same cat/dat setup as mentioned above, except I loaded PSCO1_no_Info_Radar at #17 and changed Unleashed to #18. The spacesuit idea was an awesome tip, and this is an awesome mod.
Thank you so much for your work on this, things like this breathe so much life into games.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
ONE LAST QUESTION: Is there a way for me or anyone else to extract the 'light GUI' (third picture down) from PSCO1 CockpitMod v1.30? Similar to how you extracted the PSC01_no_Info_Radar from that mod into this mod? Note in the image linked the removal of the vanilla weapons info in the lower left of the screen.
I'm not a modder but I could do it myself if someone told me how
Any tips would be much appreciated!

I totally understand itImp.- wrote:@builder 680
I don't erase the Weaponstatus-bar. It's important for playing. Not all CP includes this display, and when you can't edit the weaponconfiguration over this display.
I hope you can understand my decision.

I still wanna do it just for myself though lol. If I can figure out how to, that is!

He has a link to PSCO1_no_Info_Radar.zip at his site. It gets rid of everything other than the weapon info. I don't know of a way to turn off *just* the gravidar though.jackgates wrote:Yeah, it would be awesome to know how to do that. I don't mind the weapon-status bar, but I do hate the minimap in the lower right. Is there any quick way to shut these off?

Instead of trying to figure out how to remove weapons info in this mod, I just switched (back) to the "light GUI" version of the other cockpit mod that this mod got its "no hud" patch from.
Either way, both of these cockpit mods are supremely excellent. Thanks again for all your hard work on this one, Imp

For those who are interested in using the hidden cockpits in this mod here are a few tips.
Open your Tcockpits file from the types folder using xeditor2 and add 2 front cockpits to the scimitar and cutlass. Then navigate to the objects folder in the basis cat and drill down following the path in the readme to the hidden cockpits folder. Then note the path and add it as the scene in the Tcockpit file as the scene for example:
ships\ITS\cp_turretscenes\ITS_usc_M3_machete_L
This will give you the left seat view as a front turret. Then do the same with the other front turret only replace the L with R for the right seat. You can add weapons or not to suit taste. I use Cmod4 so I equip my cutlas with the eletromagnetic repeator on these turrets and the regular eletromagnetic for the mains.
The process for the scimitar is the same with of course the names for those scenes being used. Also the hanger ones make excellent gun turret cockpits on larger ships.

Try flying to an empty sector and ejecting into your spacesuit before installing the cockpits. If you've already installed them, take them out for a second.
Then re-install (after you went to empty sector and ejected in sacesuit) and reload the game (you'll need salvage insurance to save while in spacesuit in empty sector). When you load up and re-enter your ship, you should have cockpits.
Also, if you have Shields/Hull set to display numerically, cockpit will look funny. You have to use default for it to look right. If you ever remove or change cockpits, you generally have to exit to another ship to see the change take place, because at first things will look funny.

I try to always keep a copy of my types folder with my current Tships and Tcockpit files. I, as I am sure we all have, who like to expieriment and try new mods, especially ship mods, have had to start over to fix a broken game. A couple times I have fixed the dreaded save game corruption by copying this folder back to the game. Also it took me months to change the cockpits around the way that I like them so having a backup is a good idea.

Not working
I try to install this by adding all the files as .cat and .dat with numbers higher than the others...
13.dat
13.cat
14.dat
14.cat
15.dat
15.cat
But when I try to load my game it just crashes.
Could anyone provide installation instructions in better english?
Note: I'm using X3TC V3.1- is that compatible?

I'm not using any other mods and that's what I did, but it didn't work.boogieman335 wrote:Are you using any other Mods? I believe that the update for 3.1 actually adds 13.cat and 13.dat itself. The order that I use them is :
14 -ITS Base mod 5
15 -ITS patch 5.1
and then
-ITS full which contains the Tship file as my highest number .cat and .dat
