But Gizmo...if you buy them from the shipyard. or manufacture them in the HQ there's a shortcut to do them all at once...if it's working..lol. I've never done that because I'm too heroic and harsh, I capture all my ships, even my upgrades.(think too cheap)..hehehe.
Money doesn't mean anything to me in my game, if I get all the way to a M1-2...then my games over and I start again...after all..what real chance does a single mercenary have to actually live to do that?

Yeah, I wonder if XTM (or if any mod ever) gonna address that issue. For me the middle of the game is the most fun part of the game. Once I buy and kit out a M1/2 however, I suddenly lose almost any will to continue. Maybe I use it once a while to clear a Xenon/Khaak sector when I'm "extremely" bored but that's about it. Now you may say "so just stick with the fighters". It's kinda a dilemma though, as a player I want my game to be progressive, so M5-M4-M3-M6-M7-M1/M2, I don't want to stall at a certain level. Just wish the last bracket was a bit more exciting

I was never a fan of the M1/M2 - too slow, too expensive, and not really fun to play with.
I'd rather stick to an M7 with a fighter wing, and use my money to buy said mobile HQ.

I was ineed referring to buying ecells for the jumpdrive.I've played and own every X game they made and I've seen people talking about 'refueling'...but I never did or had to, I guess it was an optional mod or something, yes it would add some reality to the game, like having engineers on board to help repair the ships in space, or your HQ having to have engineers (marines) with proper training before any ships could be made or repaired. but if I started asking for all that, people would hunt me down and kill me...lol.
Friendly fire is not so friendly.

agreed, although I guess you could just choose to fly the smaller ships in your fleet and leave the 'boring' job of flying capitals to the AINow you may say "so just stick with the fighters". It's kinda a dilemma though, as a player I want my game to be progressive, so M5-M4-M3-M6-M7-M1/M2, I don't want to stall at a certain level. Just wish the last bracket was a bit more exciting

that said fleet preferences is a little off topic, moving on...
that was considerably more than expected, which can only mean considerably more goodies than expected..... I acctually have a reason to look forwards to xmas now!!!The mod will be approx 650 meg download going on the last few builds we have done for the testers, and about 2 gig once uncompressed and installed. We also plan to have a torrent version for download on top of a direct download version to cater to people in your position MoH.

I was referring to the general period around christmas time 
heck if it is (as previously mentioned) released on the 31st of december at 23:59:59 It'd still be awesome. It's the whole... "you know you're going to get something really awesome theres just the tease of WHEN you're going to get it"
As long as the developers take their time and do not rush their way to release just to appease the drooling hordes I will be happy.

I don't know if this has been addressed by the levels of difficulty in the MOD BUT
I find the X universe extremely boring when I no longer feel threatened by the "enemy".
I don't like "I win ships" and I hope the AI can keep pace with threat of "me".
I find it boring waltzing into a sector with a massive fleet only to find a few enemy ships that go SPLAT in a few seconds.

there's no way to achieve that without killing the frame rate.... for example, I'm using IR script now and Freedom Reach has been swarmed by khaak for quite a long time now.... there are ... 600-700 khaaks there.... including a dozen carriers & destroyers there... even with my 3.6 GHz i7 I got massive slide show there....x3nooby wrote:I don't know if this has been addressed by the levels of difficulty in the MOD BUT

We all like to see perfectly realistic sights and fights, but the truth is: we are confined to the machines we use. It's true that many of us have GOOD machines, definitely not the best and brightest, those change every day, but good solid machines with shaders and HD 3D..but even at that, dozens of ships firing hundreds of shots, all of them with 'tracer' effects, will kill your frame rate. If we want more ships in battles, then I believe we need less visible weapons fire, to save the frame rates a lot, some weapons don't have much now,some of the guns are projectile types and show no effect until they hit the target, so that helps. But having major battles with the average machine or even better, is going to make the game nearly unplayable, too bad, but true.

To try and help reduce the amount of questions while we are doing the final polishing to the mod, we have decided to release the manual early so you can all see what is going to be available for use. ^^
Just to warn those who want everything to be fresh when they start the mod, reading the manual will give you some huge spoilers. So don't complain about it as you have been warned. ^^

Another problem I think is the weapon in X for the most part are pulse based instead of period base like in most other games.
