If I may, connary, what format are you saving these nebula textures in? All of yours seem to hover around 1,366 KB, while I can't seem to get anything lower than 8,193 on my smallest.

I'm getting exactly 8 x the size you are, because I had to use 8.8.8.8 to get the same quality. Are you using photoshop with the Nvidia plugin?

Depends on Channels. If you need good alpha detail then DXT5 compression is used, if the Alpha is negligible to zero then DXT3 compression. Disable MIPS too as they aren't needed for Skybox textures.

Interesting. This will produce the same quality as the 8.8.8.8?

Close too, I don't like compressing it wherever possible, but yes it should stay close. The size reduction is tremendous though :)

Always check the end result as sometimes I've had it not compress cleanly ;)

Beautiful Work!!!!

I walked away from a $3Bn X3:TC game to start over in this Colorful Universe, and it was worth it...

Looking forward to further releases and Final Product...

Is there anything I have to worry about when using the RC1 version?

Yes.
Unknown sector (20, 5)
East of Ziarth's Dominion.

Oversize planet destroys everything in the sector.
Remove it from the x3_universe.xml before you start your game or delete the planet using SE in your current game.

By the way connary, could you also change the "Home of Light" system music to it's old piano theme from X3 Reunion? I so miss the old unique piano theme for this system. Don't even know why they changed it to the generic one in TC.

EDIT: the track name is 08104.mp3, it's in the music folder of the original X3 TC.

I have just started a new game with RC1, before I saw the post about the sector-killing planet in US (20,5). Can anyone confirm this problem, and maybe help a "Mod Noob" with necessary editting to save my current game?

I have not seen any new ETA on final for the last couple of weeks posts.
Always interested in the dates, if available.

Thanx for any help offered...

I wouldn't recommend "saving" your current game. Lot's of sectors are in test phase and lots more are half done. You better wait for final release.

@ e1team, thanx for the reply. (Bugger)....
I guess I'll go back to X2 (w/Enhanced Graphic Mod), until the Final is ready.

I spent the weekend with the first few X3 missions, and have mapped my way to Legend Home and the Otas Shipyard (favored transports). I have set an Ore mine in LH and trying to get some coin together to get extra firepower before I start the Final Fury missions.

Again, Immersive Environments is some BEAUTIFUL Work!!! I am following this thread closely, for updates.

Thanx for all the efforts!!

mmm I think Trixx has a script which fixes the sector.
If I'm wrong or he doesn't reply soonish I'll throw one together for you.
I have a MD which 'skips' that part of the Plot, however using a script is much better.

If I have Connary's permission: When the final is complete I'll make a MD which will allow you to continue playing with the new backgrounds. However, you wont have the new planets/suns.

Not a script just a fixed x3universe.xml

@e1team - Also added the music to Home of Light ;)

Improved Backgrounds RC 1 minor fix

Ah.
Here you go.

In-game: execute this script. enter 20 for the X Coord and 5 for the Y Coord.
No more planet.

I tested this by blowing up Mercury. :)

Poor Mercury.

@e1team changeing the x3_universe.xml will only work if you start a new game.
Shall I make an MD which incorporates it into your current game, I'd like the musix too.

I wonder...music...I'll have to do some research on if I can change the music via MD.

*crosses fingers*

I can.. dun dun dun.. one moment while I generate the MD.

It would be a difficult to him to make a sign of life if he would be "dead", don't you think?

Anyway, the sign of life, for example RC2 for Christmass would be nice :)

@TrixX
@h2o.AvA

Wow.... Thanx for your efforts, as always...
I am sorry it took me a couple of days to get back here as RL has been keeping me busy.

I downloaded the "X3_universe.xml" and "add piano to home of light.xml".

As I understand it, I replace the X3_universe.xml?
I do not know how to use the Script Editor. Can anyone offer a link to instructions for for this operation? (using SE to open "add piano.." to incorporate the new "X3_universe.xml")

I am very new to modding, so please bear with me.

Thanx again for your hard work, and gorgeous Mods to my favorite game...
