[Music] Second composition: Calm Dancer

Post by Deleted User »

Hi all

Today I've finished the work on my second track which I gave the name Calm Dancer, because it fits the relaxed style. As I did it with the last song Where Hope Dies I also used the Magix Music Maker 12 here, because it's an easy to use tool for composing music like this. This time the song isn't that much epic as the last was. It's smooth, relaxed and calm, hence the title of the track. In my opinion it's a good song for sector background music in X or other space games such as Freespace.

Link (own webspace): Belisarius - Calm Dancer

Formate: MP3
Length: 3:50 Min
Filesize: 5,28 MB
Bitrate: 192 kBit/s

Same as the last time I wish you much fun while listening and hoope you will comment as much as possible. :)

If you want to use this song for own projects, please ask me first.

Generally, three observations - First off, the bassline got too repetitive at the 2:30 mark, it could really use an alternate pattern placed in the middle or so to liven it up. Second, Some instruments could've used an octave jump in places, or at least double/triple notes within your scale, to give the sound more vibrancy. Of course, using them all the time wouldn't be good either, but still, could've been good in places. Third, the percussion pattern is the same throughout the track, if I am not mistaken, right? That really needs some elements to liven it up.

That's about it, those things excluded, it's a decent chill type of track.

P.S. You could try looking at FL Studio, if you are more into sequencing & loops, or Sonar if you are more into composing.

yeah, I used to use magic music maker too, and made 5 piece of musics with it, however, in the end I found it repetative. Searching for a proper music maker atm.

The problem is I'm still a beginner regarding MMM, but I try to learn as good as possible. I have to admit that I like repetitive songs, so it's not a surprise then that I make my songs the way I like it the most. :)

I googled after FL Studio and from what I've seen there it's good, but way to complicated at the moment. I try to get a bit better with MMM and then I'll take a closer look for FL Studio.

Yep, that's the main reason I rather started to learn html and php language.

I don't know if it would fit in FS1, definitely not FS2, but spot on for Freelancer. The undertone / beat seems vaguely robotic, which almost seems at odds with the 'optimistic' overtone. Sounds like station construction music if I ever heard it

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I like the composition of this piece better, just because it seems a bit less broken up. I'm more a fan of epic orchestrated pieces (The opening cinematics to FS2), but I feel this piece better shows what progress you've made as an artist and musician.

That'd go great in a more industrial sector like Ore Belt

Nice. I don't have much to add, but I enjoyed both Calm Dancer, and Where Hope Dies. I'll try and put them into X3TC's music.

Thank you for the great music.
