I presume you mean "Terran" factories rather than Terrain factories :P

In which case, they can already be linked up, you just need to use another race's Complex Construction Kits.

We've already got Terrain factories.

Just get a few Teladiaium factories, empty 'em out into a blob, and there you go, terrain! That's what they did in Aldrin.

diffrent mods installed the same time

Post by zamorra »

How is or IS it possible with the 2.6 to have diffrent mod versions of X3TC installed at the same time?

For example, if you want to have a X3TC Version of - Past and Future Mod - Transcend Mod - Apricot Merge Mod - Multi Galaxy Mod.

And with the 2.6, if you want to have installed these 4 od 5 Mods, do we have to download then X3TC four or five times ???

That would be mad or crasy. Now you just install it once and you make copy, and you can allways use a clean copy for Mods or for trying mods.

with many greetings

You don't have to, just tell steam to stop and you can keep playing your original install. I believe there was also a method posted of transferring your current install into the steam folder to prevent the need for a download...

I used steam only once for Metro 2033 and I don't know how to use the damn thing. They have a big help page but its useless because there is to much information.BTW I noticed XTC steam exe is not like the one from the Dvd version so maybe that's why if I try to move my TC instalation in to that folder Steam starts to download and replace all files .

No announcement has been made, so assume this is still being tested. Don't do anything unless you're prepared to take responsibility for your own actions!
Xenon_Slayer wrote:To clarify how DVD owners can have a STEAM install with minimal downloading:
1. First, install the DVD version onto your computer
2. Register your game with STEAM (not currently possible)
3. Copy your DVD version into the folder STEAM will use for X3TC
--C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\x3 terran conflict in my case

4. Use STEAM to verify the integrity of X3TC
5. Allow STEAM to download what is missing, a few MB if anything

I did this myself the other day. I own X3TC on disk and on STEAM so it was an obvious solution to the large download.
Every time I do step 4 it comes up with a different number of files that fail validation. Is the testing of this a public event and if so, do you want reports in the Beta Testing forum?

What :o I only read Alien ND's post about Google and the 2,6 patch and I thought to put the code into Steam .I don't think its my fault the damn program tried to put the Steam version into my computer plus I don't want it because I use a 3g mobile connection which is 0,90€ /100Mb of trafic.

Now who knows how to remove the registration key from Steam to get rid of this unwanted problem?

My bad. I confused Steam by moving the folder it was installed in. The above technique seems to be working now it's found the Files I copied for it.

You put the registration key for a non steam game, into steam even after reading a thread posted to say "You'll be able to do this, but at the moment we're still testing"...

Not used steam much, but surely there's an option to tell it to stop downloading? It won't touch your DVD install so you'll be able to carry on with that. If there isn't an option to stop/pause the download, just turn off the steam client :P
BlackCoffee wrote:Can we swap xbox spawned r******* achievements for something worth while? maybe terrain factories that can be linked up?
As has already been pointed out - no news has been publicly announced about the content of the patch, except the achievements and that has only been announced as they would be visible in Steam. They are being put there to allow the final testing so this thread is simply to explain them and let people know that the full patch will be here some time soon...
Alien ND wrote:@peknit,
I don't agree with 4. (I could be wrong) as I read it, you don't have to download the game through STEAM, even if you register your DVD to get the achievements, but then you will have a backup copy courtesy of STEAM. I will be registering, but not for the achievements.
You can register thru steam and not use it. That would give you a back up (that would require a full download) if you need it. But if you want to use it, you have to do what I said (full description reposted by Rapier).
