I don't know for certain that they don't have people working 7 days, to be honest, though I think it unlikely. Your opinion that they should is quite valid, but Valve is, of course, a business, and presumably make decisions based on what is good for the business (as most do. :) )

As for whether those decisions are good for the customers, or even correct decisions as far as their business is concerned, that's another story.

You want to know whats funny. If I got a refund from Steam (which I doubt ill get and cant be assed complaining), I could buy 2 copies of X3: TC and still have money left over lol. Rip off merchants!!!

We pay over twice as much, and for our kindness, we wait twice as long for the patch! WOooooOOoo!

You paid an early bird price. I'd be surprised to see you can buy TC for $20 already, besides, Steam was actually cheaper than buying from Egosoft directly. And if we want the game on disc, shouldn't we all buy directly so Egosoft get maximum profit thus allowing them better resources for development? :p

part of that is the fall in exchange rate; the other part is that Egosoft is obviously forced to charge RRP as otherwise their physical-media publisher will complain about Egosoft undercutting them; the fact that no actual outlet really sells at RRP is irrelevant

Would it be possible that Egosoft could get an answer from Valve to what the hold up could be or at least an ETA on the patch?

>>>As I mentioned elsewhere, many people were practically begging Egosoft to release via steam prior to the game being released. Also, the option was always there (yes, even for North American customers) to buy it from other distributors - <<

Not exactly true from my prospective............At the time of release of X3:TC there was no one to buy X3:TC from in the US......no distrebutor.
Yes, we could buy from Egosoft ......at a premium... due to the exchange rate. Steam was the only choice I was awre of to get the game "sooner" at a reasonable price!! JMPO.

Plus, it seems to me that giving Steam about three working day's to put out the update is reasonable..........So we will see!!!!!

We are in contact with Steam and it shouldn't take long now.

That is so true! Most people don't mind waiting for things, provided there is evidence that something is happening... Thanks for chasing them!!

Egosoft gave Steam the patch data as soon as they released it to the general public. The fact Egosoft had to contact Steam to make them hurry shows that the slowness of Steam is a fact and not the whining of some people with no life, like some Steam fanboys make it appear.
This is utterly pathetic for an online content provider where the most important fact is FAST AVAIABILITY of content.

I wouldn't have thought that Egosoft asked Steam to hurry. The only information we have is that they have been in contact and Steam said it won't be long now.

Not understanding why either of you think something wouldn't be happening. Is there some reason you think Steam would just be sitting on the patch to irritate their customers? :? I'm sure they're getting it out as quickly as they can.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

I recall discussions prior to release about the subject of where to preorder from if you were in the US. There was at least one non-Egosoft non-steam possibility. The price was in $US and seemed reasonable, so I stand by what I said previously, that there were options for anyone who didn't want to buy steam.

I didn't buy via steam because I have dial-up. ( would take forever)
So I bought it from gogamer via Amazon.com So for the steam naysayers ( i love steam , lets me play all my valve titles anywhere I go ) quit whining. It's not their fault, they probably have a very good reason for the delay. I put valve up there with blizzard in terms of support and service.

I own Sacred 2 on STEAM and I ran into the same long patch delay process with them. STEAM itself just takes a while, you have to roll with the punches I'm afraid.

Let's just say this; the Sacred 2 Patch on Steam took exactly 1 week to be released. It was submitted Wednesday before Thanksgiving and released Thursday after Thanksgiving.

If Ego submitted this last Thursday, hopefully it should be out by the end of the week.

Steam just sucks that way, but for those who were really complaining some people even got a refund from Steam. So they're pretty stand up company, just SLOW.
