Steam update
Steam has yet to auto update the hotfix 1.2.1. Is it not available for Steam?

As I just said, the patch has already been provided to Steam. It was sent to them at the same time we uploaded it here as we didn't want to delay it for non-Steam users. They are usually reasonably quick at uploading patches, but for obvious reasons we cannot give an ETA for something that is entirely outside our control or knowledge.
The plan for the 1.3 patch is still a bit fluid as fixes are still being tested and there may need to be further work to correct any problems that are still outstanding. Rather than guess wildly and risk the inevitable backlash that would follow if I was even a few hours out, I'd rather not give an ETA at all.

For those of us stuck with Steam, you can download the hotfix from Ego. Run the .exe and when it prompts you for an extraction location, select your "*/Program Files/Steam/Common Apps/ X3 Terran Conflict" folder as the location.
Or just select any other folder and tell it to extract anyway when it tells you there's no game there, then you can selectively copy over the new .dat and .xml files.
If you're running any mods, check your X3-TC folder for two files named 05 and 05.dat, rename them to 06 before adding the hotfix files.
This worked on my Steam game. Overall performance has improved with this fix, good job Ego.

Thanks for the patch though still watiing on steam.
Btw, could you ask the people at steam to put the patchnotes in http://www.steampowered.com/platform/up ... =0&id=2820 ? As it's been blank since release.
Also, what exactly is "- Passenger transfer fixed
" ? is this taxi missions?

Has anyone checked at what the dvd hotfix is patching in the 't' script package folder? I noticed that not only does the patcher add the 05.cat, 05.dat, and x3files.xml but it also does some patching to all four files in the t folder.
I can't get some of the mod tools to work right under vista because of the VB runtime issues (OCXs have to be distributed with proggys now, as they arn't available in vista), so if someone could sift through there and see what's been changed, I don't want to bypass the steam patching if it's going to cause compatibility issues down the road when further patching occurs.

no - 1.21 add new 3 files - steam doesnt delete additional files - only changed from 1.2 so it wont revert - otherwise you couldn use non official scripts (that add alot new files)OOZ662 wrote:Note that doing so would return it to 1.2.0 state.robbyroy wrote:Finally I was able to get the game to work only after I had steam Validate my new game files.

You can decompress .pck files with 7zip - just add the file extension afterwards (usually xml).Mubata wrote:I can't get some of the mod tools to work right under vista because of the VB runtime issues (OCXs have to be distributed with proggys now, as they arn't available in vista), so if someone could sift through there and see what's been changed, I don't want to bypass the steam patching if it's going to cause compatibility issues down the road when further patching occurs.
t file entries are just text that gets displayed/voiced in game anyway.

Thx for that tidbit of info Carlo, very helpful indeed.Carlo the Curious wrote: You can decompress .pck files with 7zip - just add the file extension afterwards (usually xml).

Usually Steam is much more on the ball with there patches. When Bala Gi patch for X3 came out, they had that up in pretty short order, so who knows why they're dragging their heels with a small hotfix. Ahh well.
Thx again.

I just updated My steam Version manual like it says in this folder and have no problems.
I backed up my T folder and Xscripts.xml and updated it.
I have some Mods in game so I did have to rename the .05 Security file to 07 for it would not be overwritten.
I also turned off the AutoUpdate in Steam for now, for I don't get caught in a surprise update before I return the game to pre patch for the regular update.
