I received X3 for Christmas patched it up to 1.3 and have now completed the story missions. I am going to wait for further patches before I continue playing.
While I am waiting I wish to continue playing X2 which is the main reason I bought X3. When I loaded X2 on my new pc I have some horrible buzzing sounds when the game reads from the hard disk. For example when I go through a gate and it loads the next sector, if I skip the intro movie and wait for the menu to come up and while it loads my saves.
I wonder if anyone has had this problem and could kindly tell me how to solve it, all other aspects of the game are great and with my new pc runs so much faster.
Thanks in advance

Moved again. Anyway, after all that, let's get back to your problem.
If the buzzing sounds seem to be coming from the PC itself then I would suggest backing up your data pronto as your hard disk is probably on its way out.
If it is coming from the speaker then you have something seriously strange going on with your sound. I would start by updating your sound drivers, especially if it is on-board sound. If it isn't on-board sound then you might like to consider moving the sound card to a different slot. I have heard of cases where interference on the PCI channel caused strange noises like this.

CBJ
I would be very surprised if anything is on the way out as the pc was only assembled from brand new parts less than two weeks ago. It may be that some parts are faulty but I have had no other problems with any other games.
I have already checked my drivers in case the ones packaged with the parts were not the latest and they were ok.
The game plays lovely until it reads from the harddrive and sounds like static interference occur (from the speakers). I do have realtek onboard sound.
Thanks for your advice, this is not a major problem just irritating as I have spent a lot of money building a new pc and most of my old games run better on my old pc.

Just to let you know, in case anyone else has a problem.
I was not aware that if you try to update drivers within windows that it only checks microsoft sites. I have downloaded a new driver directly from the gigabyte site and reinstalled X2 this seems to have cured my problems.
Thanks for the advice and sorry for posting in the wrong forum.
