NPC and Player owned are different, Player owned never require secondary resources, some of the Primaries are different. I did a chart for Player owned stations here http://www.geocities.com/donotdespiseth ... ceTree.pdf Also done with OpenOffice, it's great! The source is an OpenOffice presentation but I can't put it on geocities.Artesian wrote:I've noticed "errors" also. According to the spread sheet to produce Delaxian wheat you need energy and Bogas. I only need energy to produce Wheat, but when I inspect an NPC Wheat farm it list Bogas as a secondary resource. Do player owned and NPC owned station have different resource requirements? I can't do the research myself as I only have a wheat farm and a silicon mine.

I posted something like this (only much, much simpler and with much less detail) back for X2, and most of it holds true for X3 as well, so thought some might like to see it again. It's mainly to get an overview of the whole production chain so I myself could better understand the relationships between the products.
I've left out Energy Cells (EC) from the production chain almost totally, notably because it's a bit redundant, since everything needs it in whatever is being produced (except ECs themselves), so just assume it's there anyway. Hopefully the format is self-explanatory.

I noticed some of this is different in X3. For instance, I see that the Argons now have a Lasertower factory available for purchase, so the exact races need updating, but I think the production chain itself is still accurate.
For old X veterans this info is probably old hat, but when I was just getting into X2 I could find nothing like it. It sure helped me understand what all the different products were and what they were used for.

I'm just wondering how the food thing works. For instance, you've listed the SQUASH Mine Factory as being able to take either Soya Husk, Rastar Oil, or Nostrop Oil. This makes sense, since you can only buy SQUASH Mine Factories in Paranid, Split, or Teladi space. Does that pattern hold for all factories requiring food? Does the race that the factory comes from determine what food will be a necessary resource?donotdespisethesnake wrote:I did a chart for Player owned stations here http://www.geocities.com/donotdespiseth ... ceTree.pdf.

Yes, I believe that is the case with all factories, as far as the food goes.
There are a few factories, like satellite factories for instance, that not only require the food of the race involved (Argon or Boron in this case), but the manufactured good of a specific race (Paranid in this case).
But for food, yes, I've always found that to be the case.

Real nice work BUT...
Several errors in this sheet. One in particular. You say the Cahoona Bakery needs wheat to make meatsteak cahoonas. It totally screwed me up when I was trying to make my first complex. I put two large wheat farms right smack dab in the middle of it all.
It would be nice if you checked your facts before posting.

His chart does not differentiate between NPC or player factories. In fact, it shows only one of each type. If I had known this was all about NPC factories and had little or nothing to do with players factories I would have known not to bother downloading it.Carl Sumner wrote:Don't forget that Player factories are different from NPC factories.
