Thanks - and thanks for the spot. Corrected it in the master, tried to correct it here but the size of the thread is causing submission problems.Mercenary wrote:SteveMill wrote:New part posted.
As I mentioned to Kiwinz in a pm reply - from October I'll be back at University part-time doing creative writing at undergraduate level. The Head of Department has admitted me straight to Year 2 on the strength of the Rogue series.
I'm hoping to get a publishable fantasy novel out of it.
Steve
That's quite a step to be makingBased on this work it should be a formality...
Just one potential spot:
"It wasn't enough to safe those..." - should be "save"?

Wooohooo! You omitted some detail in your pm there. Congratulations! Saving one year in courses and fees makes this novel profitable already, ey? Great, good to hear!SteveMill wrote:New part posted.

As to the new part:
Great read. This was a good safe regarding the new character. Luckily his men trust him to an extremely high level by now. Interesting character. Still not sure myself if he is spying. But of course, he could just be a very benefitial addition to the team.
Looking forward to more.

Thanks Al, much appreciated as I've wrestled long with my cowardice over this. The thought of exposing something as personal as self-penned genre fiction to a bunch of literary and probably know-it-all nineteen years olds in workshops is more than a bit daunting but there are craft skills I need to pick up. Luckily the Head of Dept also writes fantasy fiction and he'll try and assemble a suitable seminar group.Al wrote:congratulations m8. Excellent. Good to have some more news from the 'dark side'. Was already wondering what Law was up to these days. A shame he killed the cook but from his point of view there were no alternatives. Mind you, I had to force my breakfast in when I read that. The detail made me kind of sick at times
It will be interesting to see his clash with Skull. The fight should yet again weaken his forces but he probably has to take his chances to ensure his supplies.
Looking forward to the next chapter!

Nice Going Steve,
Only just read your post on publishing something. Good on ya, it's certainly good enough. And you don't really have to be a fan of the X seeries to enjoy the books, because they are good stories in their own right.

some who deserve life receive death. Others who deserve death receive life. Can you give it to them? Don't be eager to deal out death in judgement, for not even the wise can see all ends.

One more for Max one less for Law
, i'd guess Law is winning less popularity contests than Massoor, he's obviously not getting any nicer nor gaining many brownie points with his own people.
Good luck with the uni work Steve, not that you need much for your writing skills! tho you might want some for the book you eventualy hope to get published, I certainly hope you'll let us know if you are successfull. Just don't forget to finish this story for us
. Cheers.

I'll be finishing this story, no worries there. I expect i'll have a lot of bad habits to unlearn at uni, including not making things up as i go along.Moss wrote:One more for Max one less for Law, i'd guess Law is winning less popularity contests than Massoor, he's obviously not getting any nicer nor gaining many brownie points with his own people.
