Checkertwo has released an OBJ unpacker!

It hasn't been said here as far as I can tell, but I went to Checkertwo's site, and he has released an OBJ unpacker so we can finally see what's under the hood there! :D :D :D

Here's his site below. Use an online translator if you can't decipher Russian.

I figured out how to unpack an OBJ. The syntax for that is just dobj.exe <OBJNAME>. As for the rest, I have no clue. Would anyone with Russian skills care to translate for us? :D

I couldn't get babelfish to properly translate his site. Some of it came out to be phonetic russian instead of english so I had to guess at what stuff was. Good luck to anyone that can figure out russian programming lol. What we need to do is sit checkertwo down somewhere for a while and question him/her about what exactly to do with the stuff and how it works etc. also can he do new things like make any missile even custom missile break asteroids and any gun do the same or how to change the sound used by the jumpdrive so it won't be the same as some other sound if thats possible with an object hack lol.

I dunno if these guys ever think about doing this stuff when they are messing around with their programs but if some communication could happen soon that would be great to know what they are thinking about doing versus what people here want to do with the game.

So this utility only decompiles the OBJs, but it can't compile them back?

I've been poking through the intro scene, and I see where the lasers used is set, and I'd like to recompile it and see if it works. But it seems we have no compiler. :shock:

He's done the first half of complete OBJ editing, which is decompiling OBJ's. Its only a matter of time before someone has that spark of genius to recompile them :D
