So now getting an M2 will be a top priority I guess. I hope OOS will be affected by the changes too :)

Not just an "improvement" after all, but a total redesign from scratch (Mayhem 2 only makes modifications of the vanilla scripts).

Was wondering if you get any materials in the beginning. E.g. you started "from scratch", nobody to run missions for, nobody to trade with. Will there be an abandoned TS (TS+) with some basic materials to set up infrastructure?

No, but you don't need it, because your first sector is plot-related. Also when you start from scratch, in 20 minutes, each faction will have already conquered their first sector, meaning that you will have trade opportunities and missions.

So the game forces you to claim the first sector or you can postpone the decision until you find a good one?

I believe the game will start in a frozen state where no one takes empty space. The player chooses his ascension goals and has to fulfill them and also do an initial quest to become the leader of his people. He then chooses his starting sector and the real game begins with invasions getting unlocked. At least that's how i imagine it from the bits we know.

Fleet system is done. Notice two new settings: patrol timer and the followers scanning range. The invasion strategy setting has been removed because it makes no sense to scatter your fleet to attack enemy stations. Besides, all ship formations strongly depend on the fleet leader. It's the center of everything and trying to break your formation goes against how I've designed things. The logic being: if you need your ships to go in every direction with independent orders, you don't need a fleet.

Anyway, this was the last feature I wanted to implement into the new Mayhem. However, it doesn't mean it's ready to be released. I have a TODO list of small things I need to adjust, a documentation to write, and lots of tiny things that will take an unknown amount of time to complete (ie. testing time).
