This mod attempts to add new ships and stations for all the races without making any major gameplay or balance changes to the vanilla X3TC experience.

Known issues and solutions
====================
Unfortunately this mod isn't without issues, here are some known issue you might encounter and solutions them. Please note that these issues will is likely to occur when you play the mod with a vanilla savegame.

1] Some ships appear to have unusable IREs in their turrets
- You need to use Cycrow's Cheat Script and clone the ship

2] Capital ships have trouble docking at the new shipyards and stations
- Please use MarCon Cheat Clone Station and clone that station

3] In case you want to restart the script which adds ships/stations to shipyards. Change your pilot name to resetxtra

Making it compatible with XSP ships
====================
This ship pack is not entirely compatible with XSP ships since XSP will always overwrite mods but can be made so with a little effort.

1] Uninstall all of your xsp ships using the Cycrow's Plugin Manager

2] Go into "/your X3TC directory/types" and remove the TShip file

3] Install Xtra Shippack as a fake patch

4] Open the Plugin Manager again and reinstall your xsp ships.[/url]

You know I've never actually used these ships before... maybe I should you know. Nice new shiny thread to draw me in... huge list of cool names (And I've looked at the pictures before) no... no... musn't do it, musn't go modified again...

Seriously, this pack is top notch, and doesn't mess with the rest of the universe much. It's kept me away from basically all the other mods for ages. The dark side has such bad publicity... :twisted:

Sorry, very little update this weekend. My mother passed away last Thursday, busy with funeral stuff.

Anyway, still working on that OTAS ship. It will not replace the current Boreas since I decided to make the model a bit bulky. I will probably use the Tesser design for the Boreas.

I'm not much of a model person. I'm more interested in the design and purpose of a ship.

The game has plenty of boring M2 already. 6 standard turret sections in 6 standard orientations. Yawn.
I added a few small tweaks with the 1.4 patch but they were really minor. Had to be if I wanted to slip them in unnoticed. =P

For instance, a ship could have 2 strong broadsides of 2 heavy turret sections, perhaps, with only 2 "light" turrets front/back.

Or a strong front section with the only heavy sections at 310°, 0°, 50°.

Of course such ships would have a weakness somewhere. That's the entire point. Making ships good at something but weak at another is the base of game balance. I know that this is not a "balancing" patch but aimed at diversity - which you cannot have without balance, either.

Merely knowing a target's ship class shouldn't automatically tell you it's turret coverage without ever having seen it before.
I know the limitiations there but if the only distinction between ships is their graphical look, there's not much "exploration" or incentive to "catch them all".

It's already done, it's called Nagoya.

As for OTAS M2+ Tartarus, I can't say anything about the design, it's not greate, but also not bad. I guess I'll wait for textured version.

Funny thing is, i think its one of his most powerful designs, i think it'll look really really good when its textured.

I do hope for something utterly military in layout.

A design that offers maximum of firepower with a minimum of effort.


What I think of is, if you look at the normal Star Wars Star Destroyer design, if the people would simply elevate the consecutive side turrets, they could lay fire down on a frontal target with all their cannons.

Say we have a classical Star Destroyer: Change the layout so the top side has a more steep slope. Then add turrets to both sides so their line of sight and shooting clearance is not obstructed by the foregoing turret. If you put 4 turrets to each side, you could fire on a frontal, slightly elevated target relative to your position with the grand total of all eight turrets. Then if you add the standard topside armament, those can, given the slope and going with line of sight, shoot at that target too.

That makes the combined might of both side's and the topside armament pointed at one single target. Sure you'd have to manouvre yourself so you have the enemy right in that sweetspot, but the amount of hell you could unleash would be disproportionate to the size of the ship if compared to conventional layouts in the X universe.

That way, a M7 ship could, if the side armaments allow for big enough guns, could roughly project the firepower of an avarage M2 on a single target without crippling itself in overspecializing into pure frontal weapons.

What i LIKE! about this latest OTAS M2+ design is it is NOT 100% argon, the front end looks slightly split! which i think is a good thing as OTAS being a corporation would take the best design features from multiple races to design there ships!
I used to list PC parts here, but "the best" will suffice!

Yep, multiple race design style for OTAS sounds resonable. I do see a lot of Split fetures in this design, but still this think is way more Argon that the Vanilla Boreas (which I hope will get a replacement in form of Space Cucumber).

i am of a rather split like mindset and belive you should pack this thing full of gunns untill the game itself wont let you add any more, but give it the shields of an M6

I still think the Boreas from Vanilla (and the other ships of it's style) are just really out of place. I've reassigned them to other duties in X-TL and Cad's are the OTAS ships. A replacement for the Boreas would be welcome though :)

My condolences Cadius about your mother.

The only thing I ever liked about the vanilla Boreas was the front end. It has kind of a 2001 Space Odyssey command module look to it, but all the tubes and lights were just out of place.

As for form and function though given the weapon technology,beam turrets for missle defense, combined with Gamma PPC and perhaps side launch missle turrets. Does anyone remember that cut scene in Starlancer where the Yamato jumps in and lets go a broadside of torpedos? I would love to have an M1 that I could swing in between a couple of Zenon caps and give them both a broadside of firestorm torpedos. And speaking of form and function does anyone besides me find it odd that there are no Tug/barge combos in X? I mean in reality that would be the most economical way of moving freight by ship would be to have a Tug that could dock with and move massive barges filled with all kinds of wares.
