Could you please update the X3TC version as well?

WRT scripts, I usually share stuff I modify for myself so everyone doesn't have to generate a wall file and so on. I can take it (link) down of course.

Edit : in AP / XRM Universe Colored Map the XRM sectorname Tempestine (pirate sector) is reverted to back to Unknown Sector. Its the one sector i cant seem to correctly change yet.

X3AP version is missing some shipyards.

At least these:
Family Pride
Cho's defeat
Cardinal's domain
Ceo's Sprite
Family Njy

I'm running TC plots for AP which adds/restores a few sectors, I think Family Njy got wiped out in vanilla.

Sectors beyond Oort cloud are "unknown".

I went thru the entire vanilla AP map with x3 editor, there were a fair number of shipyards missing as well as sectors marked with a shipyard which didn't in fact have one. I also fixed colors for some sectors that had the entire map shown colored.

Sectors beyond oort cloud are supposed to be unknown in vanilla.

If someone wants the modified script file, drop me a note. I modified it to show 3 letters for nomal sectors and 4 letters for sectors with a shipyard which makes the search work properly.

Hi qwizzie,

I know this response is a bit delayed... but... I hope I didn't offend you by posting that link, I hadn't seen any updates to your scripts and I thought I would help out anyone looking for an update. Thanks for your work on this script, and have a nice day.

need help

Post by Lorenzo » Mon, 19. May 14, 18:23

I can't make this mod work in X3:AP version 3.1.
I'm not very good at using mods, this is what I did:
- copied "t" and "director" in the "addon" dossier
- loaded my courrent save game
- activated the scripts

The sectors don't change colors.
What should I do?

hi Lorenzo,

Please check the following :

- you downloaded ''X3 AP Universe Colored Map 3.0''
- you extracted above file into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\x3 terran conflict\addon

inside addon folder following has been added:

- director folder : UCMSTART AP.xml
- t folder : 9961-L044 & 9961-L049

Note : this script only supports english and german language !!
If you have other language then its not supported.

What language are you running X3 AP ?

qwizzie

Edit :

I have a feeling your running X3 AP in italian language (your name sounds very italian :)) , if true try changing the filename 9961-L044.xml into 9961-L039.xml

This will show all sectors in color but still in english language, you can then edit the english sectornames inside 9961-L039.xml with wordpad into italian sectornames if necessary .. or keep the sectornames in english.

hi qwizzie, this is exactly what I did on a clean install

name is Italian ;-) but I prefer to play in English anyway, I've seen that the L044/L049 are for the language.

Does the script start as soon as you activate scripts? Should I wait for more than 10 minutes? I have played only vanilla games so far ...

So just to be sure, when you open de main menu of X3 AP its in english and when you are playing the AP plots its all in english ?

If yes the language files in the t folder (9961-L044.xml & 9961-L049.xml)
and the MD file in the director folder (UCMSTART AP.xml) should start coloring your universemap right away, both with a new start and with a save game.

Try a new start just to be safe, see if it colors the universemap then...
it should show within seconds the colors.

Yep, opening menu is in English, as is everything else. This is the Steam version, the install language is selected in one of the menus.

I tried to start a new game, then activated the scripts, the scripts are available from the menus - they were not before "Thereshallbewings".

Just to show off my ignorance, where should the *modified* thingy appear? I have access to the scrips, but I can't see the modified string.

modified tag can be found by pressing ingame twice on the letter ''p''
(its under pilot information and then scrolling all the way down).

Anyways i have been testing the scripts on a clean vanilla game with steam
and found the problem. Pls download the ''X3 AP Universe Colored Map 3.1''
from https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=fae3da27 ... F440%21105
and extract with winrar in your addon folder .. its okay to overwrite files.
It will add an extra md file in your director folder called''mdfiles.txt'' which should fix the problem.

Pls try it out and let me know if it works.

qwizzie

note : no need to activate this script via ''Therewillbewings'' method.. it gets
actived through MD (Mission Directive) automatically.

it works! and I found the modified tag
I don't understand why this isn't a standard feature of the game
thanks qwizzie :D

some sector names have a first grey letter - these are the only sectors that are searchable

I'm glad it works and i'm also glad you like it.
With regard to the searcheable sectors, i made a select number of sectors (mostly those with shipyards in it) searchable with first letter. I tried to uncolor all sectors for the first letter once and really didnt like how that looked both on the universemap and in the property owned menu so i kept it with just some sectors.

Its also mentioned on the first post (for X3 AP users) :

''X3 AP has implemented a search method which allow you to search by typing in letters in a box. This wont work with this script, it does not regnonice colored sectornames. You can only search jump with the uncolored letters and then click through to the sector you need as above described for X3 TC.

tip : pressing <-- arrow will get you out of the text field of the universemap, pressing one of the arrow keys again let you navigate further in the universemap''

Great work.

Would it be possible to remove the "lines" connecting the sectors and squeeze the whole galaxy on one screen? I'd like to be able to select any sector in the galaxy as a destination, with 1 quick click, without having to use keys to scroll or search for name. Idea is to keep my right hand on the mouse/stick.

Connectivity between sectors could be indicated through a horizontal, or vertical green bar, no connection = black bar.

you mean a square galaxy map ?

take a look at this post from Sunblade :

[MOD][TC/AP]Flat Galaxy Map / Square Galaxy Map v1.5 (2013-07-21)

http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=3134354

http://sunblade.ohost.de/

I know XRM has the square galaxy map already in their mod, but if your
not playing XRM i guess you can try one of these as seperate mod.

Hey guys,
script looks cool but the problem with no searching is a bit frustrating for me.

I am playing XRM+AP English language ,latest.

Can someone upload the solution that the 3 or 4 first letters are searchable????
I read the whole thread the links are down..
thank you.

Yeah, I tried to PM the 2 people who made the modification to no avail.

Too bad, the ability to search is more important to me than a colored map.

I was using h20.aVa's Dynamic Color Sector Names script, and deleted it to install this instead (I wanted the Hub to be called Xenon Hub, this script supposedly does that.) However, after installing this script, this is what my sector map looks like: http://imgur.com/a/OmNG5
Any idea why sectors are unnamed?

Edit: Deleted this and reinstalled h20.avas script, sector names are colored and named again.
