I was checking keys for something else earlier & I noticed that there were now TWO entries for each of the 'Wings:' keys. There was only a key binding against one entry however, I'd only about the one key.
redownload the file and it should fix it, there was an error in the initial release but its been fixed[/quote]

Damn, that was quick! :)

I'll download, uninstall via the Manager, reinstall & test.

Edit:

Hmm, I've now got a fourth set of keys in the Extensions Key binding bit. I can confirm the file I just downloaded was different to the prior one as it was a few bytes larger. Any way to remove these extra bindings?

Thanks,

Scoob.

yeah u would get a new one when you run, but from now on, u shouldn't get any more.

to remove them, u will have try to remove them manually

the problem was that they wern't getting stored correctly so uninstalling them couldn't remove them

Hi Cycrow,

Any tips on exactly how to remove them manually? I assume this can't be done in-game, rather would need some file editing manually? Or can this be done in-game via a one-off script?

Thanks,

Scoob.

trial and error is about ur only way.

u need to use the unregister hotkey command, and then specify the key id.

as you dont know the key id, you have to guess.

best you can do, is register a new hotkey and check the id, then try all the previous ids until the ones you want are removed

nope unfortuatlly not, its the annoyance of the hotkeys.

How about a hot key to open the selected wings command menu.

I may be missing it already in the basic commands but so far the only way I can access a wings command menu is via the sector map, please tell me if there is an easier way.

This seems like a major oversight to me and should have been a basic command.

scripts cant open up standard menus, they can only create thier own

Thanks for the speedy response.

I am sure I am not alone in finding the wing controls a bit clunky.

Anything you can do to make it easier is great, without the hot keys you have already put in I wouldn't use wings at all.

Wing controls could have done with there own sidebar Icon, I hope once all the bugs and stuff are fixed that this makes it into a patch.

The sidebar has lots of space and there are a huge amount of things I would like to see on it, it is a shame it isn't modable.

A retreat button would be good.
As would a "Stop/Idle/Please don't kill the ship I'm about to cap/board command" or whatever you want to call it, but you get the idea ;)

While I'm at it...
How about a Board target ship hotkey for my wing of TP's, so I can concentrate on the shields and not have to go through a ton of menus while the shields rebuild. :)

Cheers

i've already maybe a boarding hotkey as a seperate package, it launches marines from a hotkey, but i plan to make some more improvements to it

A Few Suggestions

Post by Sodium » Mon, 27. Oct 08, 19:39

I can think of a few hotkeys already that would be nice to implement in this script besides attack, protect me, and the boarding hotkey.

Wing Protect Target

Wing Stop Command

Wing Launch Fighters/Dock Fighters - For a wing of carriers that the A.I is operating.

Wing Attack All

Wing Launch Missiles

Wing Focus On Missile Defense

Wing Engage Fighters Only

Wing Engage Capitals Only

Wing Engage Friendlies - for when repair lasers are implemented for ships, or by using your cheat manager.

Wing Undock/Dock - If the wing is currently docked in a carrier or a station.

Wing Fighters Only Attack - Commands a carrier wings fighters to attack leaving the carriers themselves to fulfill other tasks.

Obviously this is a large workload, but using the command interface for every wing in the middle of a fight is horrid and often gets me killed. It would really be nice for some hotkeys so that I can focus my efforts on other tasks at hand.

What I REALLLLLY need in this script is a command that tells my fighters to attack my target and they ATTACK THAT TARGET and don't switch targets when I do :(

Yes that would be nice. Attack My Target has a tendency to go off on its own tangent. It acts more like Protect Me than Protect Me does.

Cycrow wrote:46852: Thats alot of hotkeys :P but ill try to add some of them at least

Sandalpocalypse: It should be possible, and fairly easy, the wing command console has its own set of commands like ships and can be added to by scripts

Dreamwind99: Not possible, the sidebar is not modable
all I want is a hotkey for Attack this target, instead of attack MY target, I want to tell a wing to attack a certain target and let me switch to a new target without them changing with me....

oh one other amazing thing would be a button that will scroll through the wings without bringing up the selection menu, so each press will select the next wing in the list and verbally tell you, that would be godly...

 New Update available: V1.10

Added 4 new hotkeys

Includes:
  • Attack...: Attacks your current target. If you change targets, they will continue to attack the first selected target
  • Protect...: Protects your current target. The wing will continue to escort your current target if they are not an enemy
  • Idle: The wing will idle in the sector, randomly flying around
  • Standby: The wing will stop dead in space and wait for a new command

Thanks for this script its really helpful. This really needs to be added into the game in a patch as all users are going to want these hotkeys.

Oh btw, your link on the front is old, its not linking to the new version
