Real Life Xenon began!

Known as Xenobots, the tiny robots can now reproduce, the researchers announced.

Stupid Argons are doing it again.

Call your nearest Terran Protectorate representative or Solborn Militia office.

Yeah, read about it too. The big news about it is that they learned to reproduce.

What could possibly go wrong.

Out of ignorance, I found that absolutely terrifying... Maybe it's the name.

The new Xenobots may possibly:

Clean up nuclear spills.

Remove microplastics from the ocean.

Take over the Universe... :(
“Man, my poor head is battered,” Ed said.

“That explains its unusual shape,” Styanar said, grinning openly now. “Although it does little to illuminate just why your jowls are so flaccid or why you have quite so many chins.”

“I…” Had she just called him fat? “I am just a different species, that’s all.”

“Well nature sure does have a sense of humour then,” Styanar said. “Shall we go inside? It’d not be a good idea for me to be spotted by others.”

Moreover - this is more like Tyranids, than Xenons.

Therefore Terran Protectorate will forward this to nearest Inquistion chapter.

Now all we need is these self-replicating and programmable stem-cellular entities to catch a mutating virus, or one be hit by a fast particle and mutate itself, and then we get .... (I don't know, but do the creating scientists know either?)

Let's call them 'Calvins'. Ever seen the rather bad SF horror film 'Life'?

Or maybe "Cylons", seems kind of a catchy name...

Hey that is one more field marked on my acopolypse bingo. I only need a comet heading straight to earth now and I win!

How are these things moving about ?
Surely just groups of stem cells that 'develop a bit', wouldn't have flagella or similar appendages.

I read somewhere that the whole thing is just a media buzz due to fancy name.

These are not man made nano-bots that somehow started to replicate out of nowhere, but more like slightly modified bio-cells that act like PRIONS (aka Mad Cow diesese).
Prions tend to attach to other cells and replicate gradually (kinda like virus, but cell size/like), which cause brain to degenerate.

This means that whole "self-replicating" thing is not impressive at all.

There are also some concerns, that in long term, this could lead to artificial bio-weapon like some kind of airborn Mad Cow diesese, that could wipe out the civilization (as there is no cure and you get symptoms after several years of getting sick).
