When folks post numbered lists in this forum, with a number followed by a ")" sign, things are okay, until they get to the dreaded number 8. For some reason, when we type "8" followed by ")", it is invariably replaced by 8)

Can the powers that be address this extremely minor annoyance? I would say 98.7% of the time, the emoji replacing "8)" is not the author's intent!

The simple answer is no. The forum software is not something we've written ourselves, and we don't want to get back into the situation of it being heavily modified and hard to upgrade.

However, the solution is actually pretty simple too. If you use the built-in BBCode to create your list, the problem doesn't occur.

Code: Select all

[list=1]
[*]one
[*]two
[*]three
[*]four
[*]five
[*]six
[*]seven
[*]eight
[/list]
  1. one
  2. two
  3. three
  4. four
  5. five
  6. six
  7. seven
  8. eight
This also means you don't need to remember to adjust the numbering if you change the order. Alternatively, if you really don't want to do that, you can just put a "." instead of a ")" after your numbers yourself.

Well you can also disable smilies for individual messages in the tick boxes below the composing window - as in the case for this one. 8)

Usually I just put space between them:

8 )

I think this can go from X4 gameplay over to Off Topic now.
