Well, what a deeply unpleasant week this has been.

Post by pjknibbs » Tue, 11. May 21, 18:41

Went into A&E on Thursday with what I thought was a nasty infection. Not only was it a much nastier infection than I gave it credit for (it's taken three days of intravenous antibiotics and a bunch of tablets to bring it mostly under control and I still have a nasty hole in the skin of my stomach), but turns out the swelling underneath the infection wasn't anything to do with it and is, in fact, a lymphoma tumour. So, had to have a biopsy in that and will find out in a week or two what variant of the disease I have.

Oh my, sorry to hear that - hope you're feeling better in the immediate term and fingers crossed that the results of the biopsy will be the best outcome possible and a swift treatment/recovery!!

I imagine you are feeling pretty low just now but I hope that the biopsy result is the one you hope for when it arrives. Take care of yourself and I'm sure you'll beat this.

I sincerely wish you all the best, hopefully the biopsy will bring the result you hope for.
The only slight shimmer of brightness in a situation like this is that now that it is found, it can be treated. Keeping my fingers crossed that it either is harmless or was caught early enough.
The wait is really difficult though, I know, all the strength you need to get past it. My wife was in the same situation last year you are currently in.

Just logged in after reading your post pj, bloody horrible week without a doubt. Hope the infection is now gone at least and wish you all the very best with the biopsy. Try to stay positive, it may not be as bad as you no doubt fear and being positive in this sort of situation is very important.

In a strange way, it could be a positive thing, the infection that is, perhaps it has helped find anything bad early on which is always good.

Good luck. :)

I’m not really much of a community member here, but I wanted to say as a lymphoma survivor, I wish you the best, and I will hope you are fortunate enough to be diagnosed with one of the more treatable varieties or better yet one of the curable ones.

Well, just had an ultrasound scan to see if there's any significant build-up of fluid in the lump that might need draining--apparently all OK for now, so at least some good news. I'm booked to go in to see the doctor on Friday to discuss the biopsy results, too. Just the slightly scary waiting period now.
