The first episode is so boring I nearly stopped watching but I take MrWho and the others by their word that it is getting better from Episode 3 and up 😀
It seems that each of Andors arc is set of approx 3 episodes by the same director:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andor_(TV ... )#Episodes

The first arc is very slow with episodes 1 and 2, but it's well concluded with action in episode 3.

Now the new arc is slow again, with episode 4 being focused on introduction to "espionage/heist" as well as to imperial internal politics (Senate and ISB).
Hopefully action will pick up already in episode 5, but it might be again that we would need to wait for episode 6 to finalize this arc.

Andor pace and setting is rather peculiar and specific, so I can fully understand it might not be in a taste of typical Disney/Hero action fan.

Personaly I enjoy Andor slow and grim setting, especially the audio and video - somehow it goes well with Atumn weather outside.

Same with Andor soundtrack - somehow it's barelly Star Wars'ish and more of a Blade Runner, but still fits quite well.

It is not the lack of action but the first two Episodes just don't have any grip. Many things, like the "funny" robot (it seems every new Star Wars thingy needs its own cute robot now) or the mysterious background story just don't really work out.

I have watched Episode 3 in the meantime and while there is a bit more action and especially more grip, it still appears somehow shallow, to me at least. Like, I am not even that interested in the mysterious buyer guy. Yet, I think, it was intended by the writers that I should be.

It is not a bad show by all means but I am not seeing myself waiting every week for a new episode. I am going to wait until the next story arc to be fully released. Thanks for the tip btw, makes it easier to watch when you know that 😀

"Mysterious buyer" part gets more detailed in Episode 4.

However, you're right - after I watched Episode 4, I immediately wanted to jump to Episode 5, but I have to wait a week.
Sitting down and waiting for full arc to be released is definetly the best way to enjoy the show.

On different note - it seem that writers have proper skills and plans for how the action goes and Disney contracted Andor to be closed and finished story in 2 seasons (2x12 Episodes).
This means no milking the story, no fillers/improvisations or crossover jumps to different story (aka Mando, Ashoka and Bobba).

I highly recommend Everything Everywhere all at Once available in Amazon Prime.

Cheers Euclid
Not included in the flatrate 😑 It is on my must watch list because of your recommendation but the trailer did not really convince me to buy it (bit weird).

Instead I started watching "Glitch" on Netflix. A Korean series, about a girl who sees "things" but as a viewer you are left in the dark if it is real, unreal or both. It is slow and mysterious in a good way 😌

I can backup that recommendation. Its a much better "multiverse" movie then Doctor Strange and is also a pretty grounded family and "coming of (old) age" story. One of if not the best Michelle Yeoh performance and the best actor comeback of all time. Short Round, if you know the reference (or google it :P )

It looks like Germany got Freevee and Pluto tv.

Freevee - Grimm, Fringe, Warehouse 13, Falling Skies, Dark Matter

Pluto tv - Star Trek Discovery 2 seasons, Star Trek Enterprise 1 season, The Librarians

we are pretty boring, we watch House of Dragon when kid is asleep

I also tried finding Penn and Teller's Fool Us, but apparently no one streams or sells it anymore

Just to say that if you use IMDB to find what episode and the magicians names within it, there's a pretty good chance you can find the performances on Youtube. Maybe not the entire episodes, but the intro + tricks for each.

You can also use the search filters on YouTube. Maybe try playlists vs episodes. There are some episodes.

I want to give my recommendation for this one. The show hooks you from mystery to mystery about a woman, who appears to have mental issues, or does she? It starts slow and mysterious and gets more humorous in later Epsiodes.
The show really got my attention from Episode 3 and onwards.

Let me have a quick look at your recommendation history... Joker.. Dune.. Dune again.. these are some impressive points in your curriculum vitae. What is your favourite animated Disney movie? 😁

Lion King and Wreck-It Ralph are the ones that stand out for me if we are talking classic Disney. If we talk Disney Pixar then Up for sure, The first Incredibles, Inside Out and Soul are very good ones. :)

If you are on Netflix and like interesting well rounded characters, with interesting stories and humour (not comedy) then I can highly recommend Sex Education. Excellent writing and stellar performances.

Looks like ad tier streaming is here. Netflix is launching netflix with ads for $5.99 CAD in Canada. It is set to launch November 1, 2022 in Canada and November 3, 2022 in US and UK. It's $6.99 in the US, and £4.99 in the UK. Ads tier will be limited to 720p.

Disney Plus is also coming out with an ad tier.

Wow, nice we are now full circle back to TV with running adds.

I'd rather cancel everything and read a book (and definetly not an eBook, coz the might get ads eventually :) ).

You are late to the party, low-cost eBooks have ads.

That's not what is happing though. I don't have any stakes in streaming services or even have much sympathy for them, but you can still subscribe for the non adds version, what they are doing is making options for people that rather pay less and endure some adds instead. So you get MORE options, which is a good thing, as usual you can opt to not subscribe to those.

Except that with recent and upcoming price hikes, inflation, cheaper "ads package" will become current price, and non-ads package will become expensive premium price.

Even if not be like that at first (to bait people for it), it will be shortly after the introduction.

Well you are getting worked up about possible future outcomes though. Sure its a possibility, it might not be. Just wanted to note that while criticism is fine, it should be at least accurate.
