What are you watching now ? Movies and TV

Post by burger1 » Sat, 24. Sep 16, 09:02

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell on US netflix. It's like Penny Dreadful in a way without all the sex and nudity. The plot keeps me watching.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2548418/

Red Dwarf Series 11 Episode 2 is on Dave tv.

Deadpool is coming to Canada Netflix Oct 1, 2016

Supernatural season 11 is coming to Netflix Oct 7, 2016

Dark Matter season 2 is coming to US Netflix on Oct 16, 2016.

Got bored of watching killjoys on space.ca

Waiting for the Expanse season 2 to come out next year.

Ash vs Evil Dead looks interesting

Currently reading the books so I don't want to watch the show just yet (only made it to book 2 and have no clue how far the show is). If it is only half as good as the novals it must be a blast. The books I can recommend.

I am currently catching up on the latest Dr. Who it is just a simply feel good series I love comming back to.

Also started watching Firefly because I did not see it yet.

Other than that. Cowboy Bebop it is a shame that as an anime fan it took me so long to get around to it. Btw if you never watched any anime this is certainly a good one to start with.

There is a really long list with other stuff, but a few that stand out are:

The Wire (only watched season 1 or 1&2)

Sense 8

I'm not currently "watching" anything. IOW - There aren't any shows I tune into, regularly. When it's in-season, I do watch "Game of Thrones," though.

I haven't actually been to a movie in.. years? I've watched some psuedo-recent flicks on cable, not long ago, but nothing that particularly sticks out.

Confession - About the only thing I watch regularly is whatever happens to be on TV when I'm eating dinner. Although, I do purposefully watch Southpark episodes when I see them on, but I don't make a point of tuning in during its regular season broadcast.

Started watching Jessica Jones, even though I am not really one for super hero movies, didn't even see the avangers, but this series is pretty good. Probably has to do with the fact that Jones has actual human weaknesses.

Btw, if anyone is wondering how I can watch so mutch at once.....flu is a bitch.

Inexplicably I find I'm on an Anime Binge - as a result of having discovered toradora! recently (is on NetFlix). Love it, so I've become an instant otaku, and I'm spending way too much time on this stuff, but can't seem to snap out of it just yet

This has only happened because my broadband download limit has been significantly increased, and so now I'm subscribed on Netflix, Crunchy Roll, and AnimeLab.

*annoyed at the selection of Canadian Netflix*
*annoyed at less than ideal HBO offering*
*pondering on where Canadians watch things...*

Watching stuff in Canada usually involves border hopping.

Shomi is Canadian and has a free 30 day trial. It is shutting down Nov 30, 2016. It has some pretty good movies and tv series. NCIS stuff, CSI stuff, Sleepy Hollow, The Strain, Constantine, lots of good movies.

Crave tv looks bad. I think it has South Park and Seinfeld? Free 30 day trial?

Crackle tv which is free has a Canada and US version. There's Beverly Hills Ninja, Robotech, So I Married an Axe Murderer , The Professional, Joe Dirt, Community, etc... on Canadian crackle? US version has Firefly, Married with children, seinfeld, news radio, soap, benson (a couple of star trek characters nelix+odo) , 50 first dates, anaconda, army of darkness, blue streak, final fantasy stuff, I spy , underworld x2, drunken master, etc... Usually has resident evil movies and cartoons. They removed both ghostbusters also.

Yahoo view took some of the free hulu shows but dropped a bunch of them and you'll need a US vpn to watch it I think. Has the Simpsons.

CW need a US vpn for but has good shows Dc Legends of Tommorow, Flash, Supernatural, etc...
http://www.cwtv.com/shows/

TV.com helps find stuff also. Like http://www.tv.com/shows/supernatural/watch/

Space.ca has a couple episodes of Killjoys and a couple other shows.
http://www.space.ca/shows/

Showcase has some shows. Some people like Haven. All 5 seasons are free on showcase along with a bunch of other stuff. Supergirl, etc...
http://www.showcase.ca/video#video

NBC.com has free shows but need a vpn.
http://www.nbc.com/the-blacklist/video/mato/3104074

Some other channels
http://www.adultswim.com/videos/
https://www.animelab.com/home
http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/
http://www.ctv.ca/ - has big bang theory
http://www.cwseed.com/ - Constantine, Pushing Daises which I like, Forever

You can look here for vpns or stuff.
https://www.reddit.com/r/NetflixByProxy/

Proxmate is $2 usd and netflix US is blocked about 50% of the time. I think US, Germany and another country might be working currently. There's a 14 day free trial. It's mostly blocked but it's cheap. It also unblocks a lot of other channels (300?) but most of them require tv subscriptions.

Getflix unblocks US netflix. There's a trial period. I think it's 4.50 usd/month. And there's a bit of a secret to it also. If you decide to use getflix pm me.

VPN gate is free but like people say bad things might happen. Like people upload malware to your computer, use you as an end point for illegal stuff, capture your data, etc... I don't think it's that bad but there is risk.

A good quality pay-for-service VPN is not a danger. You just have to do a thorough review before making the decision. Many people use VPNs, especially private "road warriors" concerned with security who travel a great deal and frequently connect with free wifi or even hotel wifi.

When in doubt, narrow your list and then post it on the forums and I'm sure you'll get some help in figuring out a good, safe, fit for you.

PS- Personally, I frown on the use of VPNs to circumvent distribution rights on everything except for "news." There are reasons why major distributors are forced to limit distribution of entertainment titles, since distribution rights for regions are negotiated by the creators of the content, itself, and that forms the basis for many salaries, especially the people who actually created the work being distributed. BUT, I don't mind trying to help keep someone safe from online predators and scam sites.

Ok, not strictly movies or TV, but i have been enjoying a channel on youtube called Cody's Lab. He's a guy who does some sciencey experiments, bee keeping, metal refining, fixing things, and mining his own mine! Odd mix of things i know, but for some reason his unassuming and knowledgeable character really draws me in. Can you flush 240lbs of mercury in a toilet? I don't know, so i watched.... :D

As for "normal" TV, just watched Fargo, I know there was a thread on it a few months back so i wont say much, but i bloody enjoyed it. About to start the first series of Mr Robot soon, so im hoping it's good.

My daughter recommended Zoo and I'm on the last episode of the first season ... it's catchy :-)
