Thanks for your fast response eladan

I managed to to it in a station now :)
I hope I can manage do it in space to :)

One other quesion:
Im gona start a new game with some scripts and mods. When do I need to enable the script editor and where shall I do it?

Is it just to start a new game, waiting for the first movie with Ban Danna to finish, and in space enable the script and go to a station to save. Then load the game and everything should work?

Hi Guys, I hate to ask what may seem like a stupid question but, I am stumped... I am unable to get access to the Script Editor so I need some help??? I have search the topic, and I have tried "Thereshallrewings" (and verified numerous times) as a pilot name, but the name always changes and no script editor? I have tried the trouble shooting tips below and still no joy?

I seen in another form that I should enter the cheat code when in space so I tried that too, still no go? I have also tried switching to controls mapping to Classic, from default - just in case that was a problem... still no joy.

I am rumming X3 Reunion patched to 2.5, with the Bonus Package 3.1.07 installed?

The instructions below are what I have been following and I get no where :(

enter the menu to change your pilot's name
type Thereshallbewings (note the capital T) and press enter
the menu will close, your player name will NOT have been changed, and a confirmation beep will sound on correct activation
you will now find the "Script Editor" menu item in the command console

-----
Troubleshooting if you can't open the SE
1. Have you changed your pilotname, not your ship name
2. Make sure you are not docked
3. have you used a capital T
-----

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

The usual problem is that people miss the second l, because the game does not accept the same letter without a big pause first.

So check your spelling.

When you get it right, the game pauses, and the pilot name returns to what it was.

Then its ship commands, s.

Btw, theres a spelling error in what you quoted. :)

"Thereshallrewings" or "Thereshallbewings"?

Thanks so much you were right on the money, it was the pause... and the typo was just in the post I did check my spelling (and typoering...lol) when I was entering the code in game.

The pause gets everyone, because no-one stops to check if what they typed actually made it in, before hitting enter.

I guess its only those of us who are lousy typists who check what we typed before we enter it. :)

If you do rename correctly, your pilot-name will not change.

In the end it matters that the name be JulianThereshallbewings, second then only some of LV's scripts showed up, so I reinstalled the game in another partition and it worked fine but al the saved games were corruot, the new game wouldn't use them, but I finished the game in 2 days, that was staying up about 18 hours a day, thank goodness my wife understands

Hello. I've been playing X3 for years off and on. Just got back into the game so I thought I would try something new. I downloaded the xtm mod and got it running(love it), but I started looking around and saw ship mods. Downloaded a couple of them and the cycrow plugin installer. The installer says that they r in the game with checks for enabled and profile, but I couldn't find them in the game. I tried the thereshallbewings code but it still won't let me access the script menu. The script editor menu is in the controls menu and says "s" to access but nothing. I tried in space and in dock. I made sure that the code was correct, when i entered it the game paused and my named wasn't changed. I saved it and reloaded but still nothing. I am running ver 2.5 of x3 and 0.7.4 xtm. Any help u can give is appericated.

Hey,
So, I have been wondering how to build a ship.. Is there some sort of program to download?

{The links in the OP of the sticky thread (where this post is now merged to) ought to answer some of the questions. jlehtone}

How do I get user input to use in my scripts? Such as allowing the user to pick a destination to interact with.

OR

Allow the user to input a value that will be used to make purchases. etc

ALSO

If anyone could handle a brief overview of type casting I would appreciate. I would like to use the name of the station in my messages as well as reporting values. I see there is a string to number function but I dont see a number to string function.

Sorry I'm crap at this but how would you go about writing a script to add engine noise to the first person view?

New scripter here. =D I hope I am putting this in the right place. I have a pretty general question: is there a command for the script editor that opens the command console for a selected ship? Something like "object->Open Command Console" (obviously not it).

Perfect example of what I want: when a ship completes its job you can have it send you a message asking if you want to open the command console or not. THAT is exactly what I am trying to do, but for a different task.

Please be kind to the newb and don't make fun of me too much if its an obvious answer. =D

I have no idea what the Script Editor has, but I do know that in the vanilla game each ship has a boolean option to send a message to the player, when their command completes/ends. And you can reach the ship via that message.

Has anyone got some pointers to how to retrieve the sound file that says

"Do not wave at the stations security cameras, distracted operators leads to undetected crime."

It plays in Kingdoms End, just want to hear it again, have to hear it again.

As all voice recordings, station announcements are part of the the 00144.dat file in the mov folder. It's an audio file, which you can play with your Windows Media Player. The specific line should be rather close to the end. The last five minutes are the station announcements.
