The Terran/Argon relations are set immediately, they must be at each other straight away meaning the reps starts dropping straight off

Stations displaced?

Post by Lurka » Tue, 4. May 10, 02:27

Hello and thank you for the script, it makes the X Universe much more lively.

I'm playing X3R+XTM and I noticed that the shipyard in PTNI Headquarters was displaced after installing this script. Not sure about other stations, but I'll compare previous logs of Scorp maps when I have time.

What do you think is the cause of station displacement? Could it be a source of trouble?

Thank you,
/_urka

Thank you for this Plugin, its really nice, i am using it with xtm0.75
but after a while i stumbled over 2 tings.

The first:
There is a huge fighter fleet (m3 m4 and m5) of argon and split origin at the sector Kingdom end, first i thought this would may be a skirmish but they are just keep flying there they don't shoot each other, the sector just has 16 pages of ships on the sector map, that's a bug or will they start fighting at any time ?

The second:
I finally managed to find the Hacker mentioned in the BBS, just by luck.
He quickly turned into my arch enemy since

he activated my Jumpdrive and sent me into a Xenon Core sector
It quickly turned into some Road Runner Cartoon like fight where i had to be the coyote, i did reload a dozen times and always came with other (mostly larger) weapons to fight him.

First i tried to get him on my own and ended up in the middle of a Xenon Core sector,
i was amused until i realized that he also ejected my energy cells.
Then i came with a fleet of fighters, he always jumped away and destroyed them by his almighty hacking powers.
I used a bunch of fighter drones but he also hacked them to death.
After a while i became a bit frustrated. Then i thought he can't activate my JD when i have no energy cells to jump, so i ejected my energy cells and started to hunt him again, well the xenon at XS 547 did teach me that i was wrong. Next reload next try, meanwhile i just wanted that guy to be dead at all costs so i bought a teladi Tern and took my time to lay a lot of mines in that Sector, then i started fighter drones and expected that this rotten coward will sooner or later jump into one of my minefields while running from my drones and changing names. Well i was wrong ... AGAIN .. other ships flew into the mines and my argon reputation got bad..
Reload ... since i couldn't get close on him without he jumping me to a xenon sector i used Rockets but he also seems to hack those, they just vanished, so i used more rockets , swarm rockets, i fired a LOT of typhoon rockets at him and he couldn't kill them all, i finally managed to hit him !! (yaaaaay !) Then he jumped away and all my missiles exploded.... oh yes and i was facing the xenon again ..
Reload .. Since i hit him once with a missile i kept that idea.
this time i came with Firestorm Torpedos evil laughing , wasp missles and i got rid of my damned jump drive,
since the wasps nearly never hit a fighter target i came closer ( 5 km seems to be his activation range , if you don't come closer he will not do something to you) then i started some wasps and while he was distracted in killing them i started the firestorm Torpedos , then i continued firing wasps.. well one of the wasps hit him and he jumped away, so everythng was futile ... well not everything, i was still at the sector because i had no Jumpdrive to hack, now i could start to hunt him. but he always jumped away and if one of my missiles hit him his shield always did regenerate until i was in firing range again.
Reload ... i needed something fast and strong that kills him with one shot, so i bought a paranid agamemnon and started to hunt him with the heavy missile gun, since those missiles count as gun projectiles he couldn't disarm them, i needed a while but after a few minutes i managed to hit him directly with one of the antimatter missiles, BOOOM and AHAHAHA, FINALLY he was stardust.
it did cost me around 40 million credits and a lot of time to kill ONE fighter.. but finally he was dead..
BUT THEN ... i got the reward message..

I to have this problem. They never fight, but just clutter up Kingdom End. The only way I managed to resolve this problem, was to use the Cheat Pack. I used the "Destroy" option, so I took no rep loss. Only problem is, you have to destroy each ship, 1 at a time. So it may take a while to go through 16 pages!

I've never managed to catch 1 of these buggers. Never got the 'clues', or even the offer of the XPS. But I have just had a look at the text file for this script. It looks like the only reward you get, is indeed a rep boost.

Slightly disappointing reward.

Reimplementation with Mission Director could be more intuitive, provided that the code remains hidden and somebody can MD. After all, it is the twisted idea that has value.

Well i (more or less) solved the Kingdom End fighter spam symptom.
First i wanted to write a script that kills them all but then i just fought spam with spam and spawned several groups of 40 khaak interceptors at different locations. OOS they are not really strong so they couldn't do much harm to the Stations but they acted like bug spray for the fighters and the rrf ships managed to get rid of them with larger ships.
Now the sector is peaceful again, even if it is a multi race mass grave :o

Porting that hacker to TC would also turn him into one of the most evil opponents in TC, i like the idea. :D
If you have that guy as opponent you will start to regret that you have any computer system on your ship :D

I have a "little" problem. I'm playing with XTM and a variety of other mods/scripts, all of which "should" play nice together (no one reports conflicts and some are made for XTM). These include CMOD2, PilotAI, Ashley's, Complex Cleaner, and a bunch of little stuff that shouldn't be any problem.

The game was going well until I just recently installed RRF. I was using RRF in my previous game, but then I started this new one and just now installed RRF after playing for some time without.

Anyway, I have this nasty little habit of starting wars. I might "hire" a TL, ask it to jump into a hostile sector (a race sector that hates the race of the TL), or using the Super Tractor script, hijack and drag an M1/M2 (or similar) into a hostile sector (most races are enemies with Terrans), and then find a safe spot to watch the fireworks.

The problem is, the fireworks cause a game crash.

I'm not sure if this happens with ANY 2 races, or only with Terrans, as the only wars I've been present for involved Terran RRF ships.

In my last game, I never had this problem, and I was using XTM in that one, too. I was NOT using some of the other mods (CMOD2, for example), so I don't know if that could be a cause...but I also don't recall any serious Terran RRF ships and did NOT notice Terrans going to war with anyone, so that might also have been part of it.

The crash seems to be inevitable, given enough time. I had one war between Boron and Terran ships and it crashed almost immediately once things got hot. In another war between Terrans and Split, it would crash, but repeated reloading saw the crash occur at different moments, giving me time to save/reload and hope to get more time in the game to collect loot and bailed ships before the next crash.

This only seems to occur IS...OOS doesn't have this problem.

I'm thinking it might be a problem with some particular ship, maybe a Terran ship (I'll need to try it between 2 other races, if I can find someone angry enough to fight). I never had these crashes in my other game, but that game, as I said, never had wars involving Terrans. It's very frustrating cuz I START these wars to pick up free loot (using MARS goblins) and ships (with Cycrow's SCS), hoping to pick up something precious. But in order to do this, I have to be IS for the loot to drop. Grr!

EDIT (Next Day)
Ok, I think I might have found the problem, but only by accident of luck (and mine ain't all that great, either!).

During my most recent battle, I managed to "coerce" the Boron and Teladi to fight (found a Boron Shark that didn't like Teladi, so I introduced them up close and personal). Had the same crashes as before, so it's not solely related to Terrans.

However, during the many saves/reloads and in-between the many crashes (most are lock-ups and a few are CTD), one of my ships sent a pop-up message (I think it was set to send a msg on completion of a command). You know how these messages go if you have multiple previous messages that need user action to click an OK button, or similar, and if you have a pop-up, it pops up all those others before you get to the one that did the popping...? Well, in this case, one of the string of messages I had been ignoring up till now was an infinite loop detection message from the OCS Apollo set, which is another new one I have been trying out. I never had a problem with it before, but I didn't have RRF installed before. It might be a problem that only shows up in extreme cases when you have full scale wars only the RRF can create.

I took it out to see if it helped, and I was able to enjoy the full effect of the carnage without any more hangs. I even sent in Terrans and Split to join the party. In the end, I filled up something like 4 or 5 super freighters XL class (plus one or two smaller TS's I capped along the way) with loot and reeled in a couple dozen varied ships. Woot!

Trading station in getsu fune

Post by Sinxar » Mon, 11. Apr 11, 14:26

Ok I thought I was going nuts there for a while. I went to watch a movie while docked at a station.

When i came back i was going to get my little caiman hauler setup to do some sector trading.

I press "R" and... what is this? I own a trading station in Getsu Fune? I searched for a while and only reference I seen was in a thread from '07. Came here and seen what was going on. I honestly thought I won the lottery or something, but couldn't find any messages in the log.

I didn't have the options for that when I installed the script. Just the difficulty setting.

Well that is a mystery solved. When i first got the script all the images were broken and no links worked, thanks for fixing that, and thanks for the excellent script LV.

So i can only assume I had the wrong version installed. By following your instructions in the first post I now have all the options described. Again, thanks very much!

I love this overhaul and I've been playing with it for a long time now. It seemingly performs a reverse-lobotomy on the higher ranks of Fleet Commands. Brains seem to be very scarce amongst ship commanders these days...

However, for the past week, I've been encountering a nasty problem. RR ships are randomly attacking my Advanced Satellites! So far, I have had multiple satellites destroyed in Argon, Boron, Paranid, and Split sectors. Strangely enough, no Teladi. At first it happened once in a blue moon. But now, I lose satellites in 3-5 sectors at a time... And my sats are far from traffic, usually 30+ km North/South of the ecliptic... At first I never suspected RRF. However, today I jumped in Great Reef just after my sat got borked... "Boron Rapid Response Thresher" shooting at me. Even with using the "Fix Sector Relations" option in RRF, it turned neutral but would still attack.

Another thing I have noticed, they never target any other of my ships. Only sats so far... However, I can't sit all day and replace my sat network cause of RRF's blunders. Any help would be appreciated. I'm not looking forward to mass-producing M3's and M6's just to keep eyes in sectors. Thank you :D :? :? :?

Post by LordFleischblock » Thu, 4. Feb 21, 17:45

Hello,

I'm kinda sorry to revive an old topic. But this seems to be the best place.
I'm getting ships and messages saying "ReadText8804". RRF ships are called "ReadText8804-9" or "ReadText8804-8", the AI options as well as the messages I got on first startup of the script are called "ReadText8804-24", "ReadText8804-18", "ReadText8804-19".
I have X3R 2.5 with bonus Pack (signed), Cockpit Mod (official), and script editor enabled, on Windows 7. I have no other scripts, mods, or XTM running. Sadly, Google gives me only 4 results when searching for "ReadText8804", one of them is in Polish, about deleting a station in X3R called "8804".

I have installed the RRF script using Cycrow's PluginManager (viewtopic.php?t=265915), and downloaded the RRF script from http://web.archive.org/web/201408161738 ... ux1.7a.zip because it's not available on the website anymore (also, LV's Googel Code page https://code.google.com/archive/p/x3tcscripts/downloads has not listen this script). There was only one file in the ZIP file. Using Total Commander, I discovered that there are 34 files containing the string "8804", all names containing either JTP or LV (out of 94 containgin 'JTP'). I starting a new game gives me ReadText8804 ships as well (e.g. a TL in Kingdom End / Königstal as named ReadText8804-9).

Is there a naming file missing?
What else can I try to fix this?

The script only has an English text file. If you play any other language than English you will see those readtext errors. To fix this, you need to rename the text file from "448804.xml" to "498804.xml" and change the language id at the top of the text file from 44 to 49. Use the Windows text editor or any xml editor for the edit. Not Word or Wordpad or the like.

The example above is for German (49). For other languages use either of the following ids:
48 - Polish
42 - Czech
39 - Italian
34 - Spanish
33 - French
07 - Russian

<t id="34">[author]Galactic News Network[/author]\033WHuge Breakthrough In Research Brings The Rapid Response Drive\033X\n\nAfter collaboration between the 5 major races in their battle against the Khaak and the Xenon a new piece of technology is being tested on \033WRace Response\033X vessels.\n\nThe Rapid Response Drive is capable of jumping instantly to any position in a ships sector at the blink of an eye although the drive has some unfortunate side effects. When used the drive will not only take power from the ships shields but it will also cause some hull damage thus limiting it's use if it to be an economic success.\n\n
Due to the current limitations and possible environmental effects the drive is not available to traders and cannot be traded, only large military vessels can stock this device or pilots of large combat vessels who haved aided the cause and are ranked Vindicator or higher.\n\ncurrently and there are no plans to change this.</t>

In a chilling message which brought baqck the memories of years of industrial dipute LV did not rule out sabotage and blackmail if his demands were not met.\n\n
Normally such dissent would be quickly dealth with by Split or Paranid assasins but as LV was recently voted the most dangerous pilot in the universe there has been a severe shortage of volunteers for any mission against him.\nPsychologists have also brought into question LV's current mental state as during all interviews he was heard to mutter confusing statements about someone named The Emperor who psychologists believe may be another personality of this already notorious madman.</t>
