X-BTF not keeping previous audio and graphics settings when game restarts.

Post by havoccau2020 » Mon, 30. Aug 21, 03:24

With the recent X-BTF issue, it seems like my settings keep getting set back to default every time the game starts. I changed my sound settings (muted everything) and closed the game, and they were back to the default when I loaded the game up the next time.

Is there a way to manually edit and change the game settings? Is there a setting file somewhere? It really seems like the game keeps resetting the settings to default instead of saving any changes I make when I close the game and restart. Both audio and graphics settings have reset.

This is based purely on recollection of the *likely* X-BTF system by a dev and so may not be totally applicable in all respects.

The sound/graphics settings are probably stored in the registry under Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\EGOSOFT\[X Game]. Possible reasons that they might not be being updated as you make changes include that the "reset settings" checkbox is ticked on the launcher, or that the user's system is tightly secured and so preventing writing to registry. There may be other reasons too.

I am sorry for the late answer, has just now seen a question.

Sequence of executions:
1. Start game.
2. To execute options of a sound and graphic.
3. [F8] - Exit from game.
4. Launch editor of register.
5. Find address: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EgoSoftware\X".
6. Press the right button mouse on "X".
7. In menu to choose to "Export".
8. Save the file "X.reg".
9. Start him before every start of game.

Sorry to inexact machine translation.
