X²: Crash on Saya Kho cutscene, Priest Rings.

Post by Kom-Pav » Wed, 26. Feb 20, 11:26

Hello all!

I'll cut straight to business. My problem takes place when playing through the plot, specifically after having spoken to Manckossak. I've managed to gather that straight after this, Saya Kho is meant to fly through a jump gate and contact you - the latter part of this results in a crash for me. I am playing a completely vanilla build on Windows 10, and I am playing the latest Steam version. In keeping with the established guidelines for bug reporting, both my error message and my DXDiag are as follows:

I have been on this run for 3-4 days now, primarily trading and accumulating capital. I have established upwards of a dozen factories and own a sizable merchant fleet of Demeters, enjoying a steady stream of income.
I flew to Priest Rings in an Argon Centaur, paired with a Disco - the Disco being the ship I'd be making the trade in.

If there's anything else anyone requires to help me effectively, I'll be happy to oblige.

Hello. Unfortunately the crash/apphang reports are pretty generic and don't help much to identify the exact issue.

There are a few things you could try:

1. Have you verified the X2 game install through Steam?

2. You have many sound devices and drivers working in parallel. Disable any you don't use in Device Manager, Sound/Audio Devices (right-click on a device in the list for an enable/disable pop-up).

3. You have a modern graphics card and OS and this is an old XP-era game now. Try changing graphics card control panel options, especially the newer and more powerful processing options, and see if anything helps. You could even try updating, reinstalling, or rolling back the graphics driver and see if that helps.

Good luck.
