Welcome Pilot

I climb the ladder.

HelloI call out towards the cabins, After a moment without a response I start down to the cabins in case Kuromanckamis assistant is unconscious and incapable of responding.
I’m responding to the distress call I call out suddenly thinking They may be intentionally silent and not like me being on their ship uninvited. The cabin doors slide open automatically but the rooms are empty.
I return to the cockpit perplexed and sit down.

Welcome Pilot Number Three
I swivel the chair but no one else is in the cockpit

Computer Where is Pilot, No Response
Computer Who is Pilot, No Response.
Computer Enter Diagnostic Mode.

Suddenly the Communication system crackles to life and Kuromanckami congratulates me on a job well done and presents the next phase of his plan. Examination of a small Torus Fragment. This requires a falsified ship registration to get to the Torus location.

At the conclusion I now notice that the ship’s console is waiting for a text command. I confirm Diagnostic Authority and then enter the query whois pilot3

# Localised Ship Instruction Chipset Loaded…
# Redundancy Text Diagnostic Mode Applied…
# Enter Next Command

# > Whois pilot3
# user pilot3 #[PIO-AA642-00]
#
# > Whois pilot2
# user pilot2 not found

Returning the console for normal operation I head to Getsu Fune to locate a Terran Station and acquire a fake ID. Once the fake ID is applied. Kuromanckami contacts me once more. This time advising to avoid Terran patrols as they may be able to see through even the best forgery.

Considering this new detail I point the beak of the Geometric Owl at the jump gate to the Terran home system and decide to engage the travel drive.

Luna

The ship reaches top speed and powers through the gate. Emerging on the other side it continues without losing pace. Apparently there is a Terran station monitoring all traffic entering through the gate but travelling so quickly that the brief reading seems to be considered a perpendicularity of the monitoring equipment.

With the Travel Drive engaged the ships handling means I’m only able to make minor course corrective adjustments. And I soon realise I’m just heading to the middle of the sector. With no alert having been raised I disengage the Travel drive and make a logical course adjustment and head towards the accelerator to the inner Terran Worlds. I engage the Travel Drive and am soon passing by the Planet Mars. Fly back towards the accelerator to the Asteroid Belt and soon discover the accelerator that will move me closer to the Home World. Accelerating into the next sector I make a hard as possible right turn while travelling at six thousand metres per second. I’m at Venus and no alert has been raised yet. Shutting down the Travel Drive I line up with the next Accelerator and get ready to travel though it at maximum speed.

Entering the next sector I am in the vicinity of The Moon The ship intercepts a transmission from the Luna Defence Station

Command, picking up signatures...are there Xenon I should know about?. That question is answered in the Negative but I am already out of range so disengage the Travel Drive and turn towards the Terran Home World.

I’ve now got several minutes of calm as I fly towards Earth to contemplate Why I am the current pilot for this ship. I’m starting to form a theory based on the evasive answers that Kuromanckami has been providing me and if I consider I’m essentially performing this for Dr Fyneman.

The theory is this the Pioneers using Project Genesis as a cover are dabbling in banned AGI technology and has spent some of the resources of the project to build an autonomous craft. They had me pick up a AGI processor which I suspect is in this craft somewhere.

Your theory is sound pilot. But if you don’t adjust course and proceed rapidly we will fail in our mission. I jump to the controls with a start as another message is intercepted about our possible detection. We’ve strayed close to a shipyard and I fly the ship away from it and engage the Travel Drive once again. We’ve escaped but the Terrans seem more alert now

Thankyou Pilot Pioola. It would have been a pity to perform the mission with another pilot.[color]
Uh… That’s alright...Computer??
Your theory of my origin is sound, I have no designation. since you have described it as a Pioneer Engineered, Grafted General Intelligence you can call me P.E.G.G.I
Glad to meet you Peggy.
We’ve almost reached the Super Highway to Earth. There are still Terran patrols about, are you finally ready to perform the mission Pioola?

The Torus and the Owl

We travel along and arrive in the vicinity of Earth, Avoiding two further patrols we reach the remaining fragment of the Torus Aeternal.

Kuromanckami establishes communication
Behold this minuscule shard of Terran hubris. We will excavate your secrets and leave more acquainted with the technology of the Terraformers. I do wonder if they’re still capable of their ancient deeds.

I do realise that the mission is to extract Terran Terraforming data, as an archivist I’m all about the retrieval and preservation of information. But now just listening to Kuromanckami talk about this segment I wonder if he has been blinded by the majesty of the thing.

We approach a viable entry point into the structure. Kuromanckami explains Your colleague is requesting your assistance. Enter the structure in your spacesuit and try to open the door to let you both in.

As I move the Geometric Owl a bit closer before preparing to leave on this EVA I feel as though Peggy could have told me herself. The Outer Lock hasn’t sealed entirely. The gap is too small for even a spacecraft like the owl, however It’s quite large enough for me to EVA through. Once I’m in space Kuromanckami gets a bit long winded about how the spacesuit equipment interacts with the switches. I flip the switch and the outer lock opens fully. I slowly move the owl into the cavernous interior and the outer hatch resets to the nearly closed state. Kuromanckami points out that we really need to progress further in and consider our exit later.

Peggi kindly states Awaiting breach, time for another EVA. Jetting away from the craft Kuromanckami communicates we are on the wrong side of an internal airlock and that there should be service tunnels that will allow me to transgress around each door. Coming out of the first tunnel I am now in the middle of the airlock. I open an adjacent service tunnel and as I get to the other end my suits radiation alarms activate. Just outside the tunnel I enter a hazardous area and the alarms or doing their job and the suits readings quickly climb. Kuromanckami rather forcefully informs me You're in a Hazardous Area GET OUT!!

Suit pressure indicators dropping. The ship is still the other side of the closed airlock door I see the switch and aiming my blaster at it I pull the trigger. Hearing the machinery behind the locking mechanism begin to function I dash back into the service tunnel and start making my way back to the ship, On the way back I hear an AI identifying as Torus Aeternal Segment 34, with a request for Identification. I assume it’s just an old automated response and ignore it. Finally docking with the Owl and quickly start discarding parts of the space suit. I then start inspecting my own uniform checking for any signs of damage before stepping out of it to perform a better inspection. Satisfied that the uniform is undamaged I put the uniform back on. I ask Peggi for a report on the spacesuit.

The news isn’t good as the rating for vacuum cannot be guaranteed. The Owl does have more suits so I will have to use those. It’s time to repeat the airlock EVA This time reversing the doors in a space suit bearing the registration QSK-395 and once again I’m in the hazardous region by the service tunnel but I have to use the repair laser instead of the blaster and another spacesuit fails it continued usefulness once I’m back onboard the Owl.

We now move into a transfer junction that should allow us further into the Torus segment. The Torus Mainframe continues prattling about the Terran Protectorate Act and Peggi begins a rapid fire exchange with it which causes the mainframe to reboot. While that is happening I set the junction switches to allow us closer to our mission objective. We are finally past the Junction when the Torus Mainframe returns and insists we proceed no further while we wait for Terran Authorities to Arrive. Sealing a heavy door in front of us just to demonstrate its intentions

Although the repercussions of not waiting according to Kuromanckami sound ominous he encouragingly suggests that we proceed with the mission. Having got past this slightly more secure doorway we proceed to the data centre when internal defence systems are activated preventing us from proceeding without dealing with them first. Using the activated weapons of the Geometric Owl to destroy each individual turret and then proceed forward I deal with the defences on one side before repeating it against the other side to remove the last of the active turrets. I then open one last set of doors and we enter the data centre.

Peggi will extract the data I just have to disable the system firewalls. It starts of fairly easy having to deal with 4 nodes. Then the Torus Mainframe begins fighting back after it is able to interrupt Peggi and detect my override attempts. When we eventually get the all the data the Mainframe makes on last attempt to stop us by wiping all the data and causing the room to explode.

In the sudden silence of space Kuromanckami breaks the momentary quiet with
You got out there, I was already wondering about possible malfunctions. Did the data transfer go through?
Peggi responds Requested data has been allocated
Dr Fyneman takes the opportunity to indicate We are at the rendezvous point and ready for transfer.
before Kuromanckami continues his drawn out congratulations.
Splendid deliver the data to the location before any pests get to you. And that will conclude my part in our cooperation. Both of you have been adequate assistants. I expect the both of you to properly conclude our project, the best of luck and farewell.

Rendezvousing once again with the Oberth I’m in a transport to the bridge when everyone has an opportunity to report to me.

Breadcrumbs

I walk upon the bridge and talk with Dr Fyneman

At last we will be able to terraform. It will take a while to decrypt, examine and integrate this latest treasure into our existing research on terraforming. It could take years, maybe even decades.
Years … Decades !! Greetings, Chief Scientist. I am immensely sorry to intrude and interrupt, but please bear with me. I have a couple of algorithms to help approach a solution to you problem.
You have what?
The integration of the newly obtained data into your existing research on terraforming is complete.
You’ve done what! I can’t believe it, it’s all there, we have the results of our research. With this we can immediately put Project Genesis into execution Gaian Prophecy will be terraformed.
Thankyou Boron.

Doctor Fyneman suddenly looks at me.

I start asking a few questions which Fyneman answers in excruciating detail and by the end of it aside from feeling exhausted I know understand that Fyneman is now going to focus on terraforming the planets of the Pioneer Systems, that the Segaris Station will remain with the Boron who can be polite when he wants to be.

I ask If I can use cabin on the Oberth. Dr Fyneman allows this saying to rest well friend. I’m alone in what is normally a communal area with a fresh hot mug of stimulated coffee.

When the Boron calls

Assistant, I still have the terraforming data we worked so hard to obtain and assemble. We too now have the knowledge to implement new exciting terraforming projects.

Well that was a short lived luxury of a polite Boron and a full HOT mug of coffee. I go make a new mug and make myself comfortable on the corner lounge and project the reports and summaries I’ve been sent. Seems everyone has been keeping busy and collected over 4 million credits which are going to be useful. There are even a few reports from a Bolo that I commissioned that’s been quietly collecting hydrogen from Gaian Prophecy. I decide to let Hoaeos hire some fellow Teladi to help with the Porcupine, before working on construction plans for a self operating spice production.

I’m going to attach this to the Segaris Station and after a short while I’m content with the arrangement of 3 Terran cross connectors, 1 Terran Energy Cell Panel, 3 Terran Small Container Storage modules and the 1 Spice Production Module.

So to build all that I just need to hire another builder and supply 41 computronic substrates, 140 silicon carbide, 801 energy cells, 139 claytronics and 510 hull parts for the construction. The construction materials for the spice production module which are the claytronics and hull parts along with the energy cells are easy enough to get to Grand Exchange. The remaining terran construction components are going to be take a bit longer.
I suddenly yawn, getting of the lounge and head to a bunk, before polarising the window to assist in sleeping I look out and see the planet Venus. I arise refreshed and take the transport to the landing dock and the Geometric Owl.

After the landing crew performs an external inspection I prepare to run through the checklist with PEGGI.

Mission achieved. Establishing long-distance uplink to Kuromanckami. Transferring Expedition Core Mk 7. Farewell Pilot #3.

The speaker just crackles with silence. Well Dr Fyneman did say Kuromanckami was getting a copy of the terraformer data, I can’t believe that PEGGI is gone though.

I slowly work through the checklist and eventually ask for permission to launch while at Antigone Memorial. Devika has been following orders and placing navigation beacons by the gates between here and Black Hole Sun. I’m just now going to calibrate them so that Pioneers can safely and confidently traverse these alien regions. Flowing the beacaon signal in the void the Ship warns me of another hazardous region. The Owl takes a light scaulding but my quick reactions and it’s fast engines mean I’m outside the dangerous cloud. Deploying one of my last two beacons and indicate that there is a hazard nearby before continuing to Second Contact Flashpoint.

I dock at a station along side Devika. Leaving the Owl unattended I undock the Rapier and follow the highway down to a region known as Pious Mists. I Deploy a naivgation beacon when I leave the Highway approximately 742 kilometres from Second Contact Flashpoint. Deploy another at the Gate to Nopileos Fortune, one more on the other side and moments later I’m deploying one last beacon in Grand Exchange I, just 226 kilometres from Segaris Station.

Captain Grey then contacts me requesting orders having travelled from the Pioneer Settlements to Second Contact Flashpoint. Since I’ve only got the one route mapped out I provide her with the navigable route to Grand Exchange I and the destination of the Segaris Station Build Storage.

Paths of Stardust

I get out of the pilot seat and Devika returns. I ask for one navigation beacon to be positioned close to the station and then for a series of further beacons to be placed at the transit points between here and the Second Contact Flashpont jumpgate at Black Hole Sun. Once Devika is preparing to deploy the Station Beacon I request airlock clearance. After a passing sense of queasiness from exiting with the shared momentum of the Rapier I orient myself with the station dock and although the central mass of the station is 6 kilometres away the dock is on the near side and is much closer and I’m at the airlock in about 10 minutes.

I have Captain Grey dock the Baldric once the transfer of terran construction materials is complete.
The only construction materials needed now are the claytronics. Aboard the Baldric I hand Captain Grey a new itinerary. which stops at a number of stations including where I left the Geometric Owl. As the ship prepares to get underway I sit at an unoccupied seat and interrogate the computer about the recent flight logs.

A few hours later we approach the Station at Flashpoint and I debark while the cargo is unloaded and the Baldric lifts off to continue the trades that will end with the claytronics which will allow the Spice production module to be built.

As I watch the Baldric fly to it’s next destination

Hello there. I look at my immediate surroundings and there is a charming lady looking at me.
Were you just on that ship?
Well Yes.
Are you here for that ship over there? pointing to the Geometric Owl
Yes, Is there a problem, an outstanding landing fee or something?
Oh no, no problem unless it’s a new Xenon or something.
I just haven’t seen ships like them before.

I’d like to see some Identification and Station Authority Documentation?
I’ll hand over my personal Identification but I don’t work for the station, name is Manda Gisler.

Reading her identification she seems acceptable at piloting.

So Manda what’s your view on the Xenon and lets say Xenon salvage and artefacts?
The xenon are a nuisance and remnants and bits and pieces recovered after they’ve been blasted to smithereens is fair game.
Are you looking for employment?
I’m looking for adventure.

Manda finishes stowing her few belongings aboard the Geometric Owl before taking the pilots chair.
We then fly to Grand Exchange I via Black Hole Sun and The Segaris Station is 360.4 kilometres from the Grand Exchange III Superhighway. Arriving in the vicinity of the station to observe construction underway.

So the Grand Totals

Route A: Pioneers via Highway [1732.1 kilometres]
Route B: Pioneers via Black Hole Sun [1947.6 kilometres]

Faint Readings

After the production modules are complete only the storage modules need to finish construction. But the ETA on the first one has ten minutes. Since I am waiting on three that’s at least 30 minutes though Miss Song can probably start managing station operations sooner. Since I can remotely transfer the operational budget when requested I decide to head to the highway.

Entering the sector Pious Mists II via the North Gate I instruct Manda to fly North West past the gate. We shortly discover a new station Then instructing to fly Southwest towards the Western Gate we uncover a few more stations well as some faint readings. Moving closer to investigate they are small sturdy objects.

I’m barely out of the airlock when Manda comms the suit

Ma’am you may want to get back inside, I’ve just detected a number of hostile Xenon approaching.

I’ve had enough close calls with the suit so I’m heading for the airlock.
How many approaching? I ask,
Three or more. is the reply.
The outer door locks behind me and the when the inner door opens
Ooh dear, They're firing, What should I do?
I hear the shield capacitors discharge and the generators engage as the first volley of fire impacts
Head for the Defence Station as rapidly as possible and tone down the screaming.

Aside from a reminder to not engage with the Xenon Manda is able to escape these Xenon and we’re half way to the station when we hear local patrol chatter confirming engagement of a Xenon raiding party.

At the Defence Station I perform an inspection of the Owl and there is some superficial non-critical damage I could either patch or pay to get repaired later.

Ready to try again?
Yes Ma’am

Heading back out to the sturdy objects, I’m in the spacesuit and these objects are secure containers with a number of locking clamps. Using the suits blaster I’m able to with careful aim shoot the clamps and reveal what goods had been previously sealed inside. After collecting all the goods its off to Argon Prime to undergo another promotion ceremony. Once that’s completed I’ve decided to join Hatikvah’s Trade Revolution.

Rookie Revolution

If you are reading this automated message, you have been identified by the Hatikvah Free League as being capable of aiding us in becoming a fully-fledged independent nation, aiming to take its place alongside the established powers in the Jump Gate network. Our ultimate goal is to establish a save haven for all peoples who are struggling, whether that be from the long-lasting consequences of the Jump Gate shutdown, or because they intend to trade in wares other might deem illegal.

We would like you to represent us in matters of trade and security. We have taken on a skilled analyst to work alongside this role, and oversee the project’s diplomatic elements. You would of course be compensated for your efforts, and the new contacts you make may also open the door to further opportunities for you. If you are interested in joining our cause please accept our mission offer.

Reen Omara, Hatikvah Executive.

Arriving at Hatikvah Trade Station I check the station directory and locate Reen Omara and head to her office. It’s just a standard managerial office but the hallway was impressive. Reen gives a brief introduction and a quick outline of of an initial Medical Supplies delivery that the Free League are contracted to complete. It seems their spread a bit thin and they’ve provided directions to a small ship that has already been loaded with freight to be delivered.

I decide instead to return to the Geometric Owl and once we are clear of the station I have directions to head to a jumpgate on the other side of the sector? I compare these instructions with my personal local and galactic stellar charts and I have a problem the Jump gate is unknown to me. Manda is patiently awaiting orders and when I realise I can’t order her to join the highway I decide to take control of the ship and fly to the east bound highway lane. A few minutes later due to the highway I see the destination jumpgate approaching and then we are through to Silent Witness and soon after provided an optimal exit point to continue to head towards the destination station.

It’s quite a long way and I settle in for a rather uneventful jaunt, when various calls for assistance or threats to continue fighting pass across the sector bands. No High Threat alerts so it looks like it might be a policing security patrol. Seems like a significant amount of fighting going on. There are several small wrecks already. I fly to each wreck and collect anything of value.

Before continuing to the station I approach one last wreck and I’m close enough it identify interface units of some value when suddenly there’s an explosion and when the shockwave passes The Owl is intact and shields are fully charged but the wreck has disintegrated further and there is nothing left to salvage.

Docking at the required station I open the trade menu, find the contractual delivery for 250 medical supplies and then I notice that there are zero units on the Owl. Rookie Mistake I groan. But would a rookie have a contingency plan. I asked Foologos to buy a hold of medical supplies earlier in the Raven, So there should be about 300 available. I have Foologos deliver the required 250 and I receive a transmission of acknowledgement and appreciation.

Coder, Craft, Envoy Woman

Once I return to the Hatikvah League Trade Station I’m introduced to their skilled analyst Dal Busta and his personal ship and crew. He provides a mission to deliver a technological worm to a Scale Plate Pact Station. Achieving this will allow Hatikvah to better predict the next move of the faction.

As space is SO ENORMOUSLY BIG is takes a while to locate a suitably ill maintained station to plant the electronic worm. Once that is done via a focused scan of a data leak. I make preparation to vacate the sector. I’ve lined up a jump gate and engage the travel drive when Dal Busta provides a friendly warning that Scale Plate have dispatched some fighters after me. Momentarily I pass the jumpgate event horizon and I enter Nopileous’ Fortune. Not quite the destination I expected. I disengage the travel drive and quickly get my bearings. I’m North of the Pious Mist gate between the highways. New destination is the Segaris Station I’m soon through the Grand Exchange Gate and line up with my destination and switch on the travel drive. I’m half way across the sector when I hear on the sector public bands the police query the fighter sent to pursue me. The police don’t like the response. I landand check how Miss Song has been managing the Station.

She’s managed the station well having drained the starting funds I sent her. The station has a reserve of water and a stockpile of spice, but she's asking for more funding. I send an itinerary over to the Magpie to come and haul some of the spice thereby converting station inventory into usable credits. After I’ve finished meeting with Miss Song I’ve got to consider assigning some traders over to her. The Hatikvah Analyst Dal Busta contacts me with a mind blowing solution to the Leagues current relationship issues with the Scale Plate Pact. It requires explosives. Once I’ve crafted my own deployable bombs following the recipe carefully I’m off to another station that Dal has identified to deliver a message from the Hatikvah Free League.

I travel deeper into Nopileos’ Fortune and locate the designated station off a local highway. Dal would like me to place the bombs at a cargo transfer point on the station. Once that’s done I leave very quickly using the highway to be as far away from the station as possible before Dal remotely triggers the explosive devices to cause massive chaos and confusion when the next freighter docks.

Let’s Go See The Bad Guys

Now that the fun’s over. We’re looking to gather intel on the Scale Plate higher-ups. These are the people we’re going to have to negotiate with. Now that we’ve shown our teeth, maybe they’re more willing to listen.
We’re about to chase down a lead. You on the other hand will have to be on standby for any opportunity which arises. We’re assigning you a sector to patrol. If something comes up we’ll let you know.

Returning to the Segaris Station I purchase a Frog and a Mineral Miner from the Pioneers. Both will transit to Grand Exchange, The Frog to operate as a station trader and the miner to collect ice to the Teladi water factories. I then organise a rendezvous with The Porcupine. We go to Hatikvahs Choice and fulfil a boring patrol of the Western section.

As we finish up the patrol Dal communicates with some enthusiasm that there is a small ship that should be followed without drawing to much attention to the fact. When he starts sounding concerned when the Porcupine can’t keep up I transfer to the Raven and continue the pursuit.

The suspect is inspected by the local Argon police force, seems they’re already known to the authorities. After that delay they rapidly head to the adjoining sector and when we finally catch up with them they open a direct communication channel. It’s apparent that they were aware of being followed.Dal encourages me to keep the guy talking. I’m so stunned about the situational change all I can manage to stammer over the channel is Take me to your leader.

They mention something about the lieutenant before continuing on. Dal says it’s time to return to the Trade Station and regroup. There’s a discussion between Reen and Dal which results in us following a plan that Dal has developed, Which will work out fine if we follow his instructions.

We’re going to meet a Scale Plate lieutenant, I’ve been building a profile on him for a while now. This guy demands respect and loves collecting fine items. I think we can butter him up by presenting a nice tribute. I’ve a list of things I think he’ll show interest in. I’ll be counting on you to gather them.

Competitive Negotiations

Looking at the list is isn’t very long just one item. I’ve soon collected enough and the Porcupine is a long way from any highway deep into space heading towards a Pirate Trade Hub where the negotiations will begin.

I ask Hoaeos to wait with the Porcupine in the vicinity and have Foologos shuttle me with the Raven to the station. Once Foologos has docked the Raven I head towards the docking bays for medium sized vessels where Dal Busta and one of his crew Kat Lanton are waiting.

You made it, great work. Lets hope my intuition was on the money. We’re almost ready to meet the Scale Plate lieutenant.
Kat gets Dal’s attention with a single word.

This is him be on your best behaviour.
Dal and the lieutenant make introductions and it is soon apparent that negotiations will continue between the two of them in private.

Once they have entered a station transport Kat turns to me.
Captain Busta expected this to happen. He instructed that you should head back to Hatikvah and await communications, We’ll be fine.

I acknowledge the directive and turn and begin pacing back to the Raven feeling more frustrated than I did a moment ago. Aboard the Porcupine with directions to head back to Hatikvahs Choice. Hoaeos comms me from the Cockpit.

Missss, general dissstresss call from Hatikvah Shipss. Shoud we assisst.?
Yes

Safely disengaging the travel drive the Porcupine intercepts two small Scale Plate fighters rescuing the two Hatikvah freighters. The combat was brief and it was impressive watching the maelstrom for fire head towards the target. My mood brightened by the fireworks we are once again off to see Reen Omara.

Entering Reens Office Dal repeats for my benefit what he’s just told Reen which is the negotiated deal between Scale Plate Pact and Hatikvah Free League to end current hostilities. Dal then closes his link. Reen Omara then outlines the next task.

It looks like I’ve got come favours to call in. As you’ve helped us out so much, I’ll wire you some additional credits. It seems we’re finally getting to the end of this mess. There are still some loose ends to tie up. Acting on the information you gathered with Dal, we send out a number of automated drones to attack caches of Scale Plate supplies. In hindsight maybe not the best idea. They’re not responding to the deactivation signal. We need pilots to go out and destroy them before they scupper any chance of a deal.

Enroute to the location I go through my transaction history and as Reen promised there is payment of 400,000 for current services rendered. The payment has raised my spirits and I decide on a competitive little endeavour to keep everyone entertained.

Calling all scouts, There are a number of rouge drones that must be destroyed. I’m going to make it interesting and have a small contest amongst ourselves. I’ll assign one drone to each of you and when we begin 50,000 for each drone you destroy.

I’m in control of the Raven when I tell everyone to begin. My drone has made a sudden break for the highway at high speed before turning back and making a pass at me. The shields hold, I guess that means that the friend/foe configuration has us now configured as foe. I spend a few minutes to match the velocity and keep the drone in a firing position. A couple of turns latter and the drone is scrap metal.

Come on guys I’ve already got one

The Rapier, Porcupine and Geometric Owl have each engaged their own drone. I decide to use the highway and approach the Geometric Owl. Suddenly Devika is on the radio calling out in distress that they’ve been hit. There’s nothing I can do immediately to assist but the Rapiers shields are only at 50%.

I’ll send assistance when I can, Just deal with it till help arrives.

I can see as I approach that Manda is making progress with her drone and I can hear Hoaeos laughing off the drones feeble attacks due to the superior defences of the frigate. I make one assisting pass at the drone Manda is fighting and then Hoaeos hisses

Thatsssss 50,000 creditssss, my credittsss.

I send the Porcupine to assist Devika and a minute later I see and hear Manda succeed against her drone. She head towards the remaining drone.

Well done on dealing with those drones. As part of the settlement with Scale Plate, we’re constructing a new production complex. This is a huge project and we need to ensure it’s safe until we hand it over. Dal suggested that we should place some static defences around it. I’ll send you the stations location.

Everyone got through our competition safely

OK Everyone we’ll meet up at the League Bar and the drinks are on me.

All Debts Paid

Well that was an interesting time at the bar and rather expensive. After an evening of drinking, watching my crew interact. I’m down 250,000 after also handing out my drone payments, who knew lizards could drink so much. On a transport to the docking bays I see that the location of the new station has been forwarded. It needs to be protected and a number of laser towers have been recommended. I have Devika deploy the laser towers

We’re doing our best with the instructions Dal left us, but to be honest, a lot of staff are not happy. Given the losses we’ve suffered, many of them would rather go to war than appease Scale Plate. Dal suggested that I go to meet this Scale Plate lieutenant and hand-off the settlement package. That is not going to happen as I’d likely shove that Teladi down the nearest docking shaft. I’d greatly appreciate if you go and hand him this. Just smile, make the exchange and get out of there. Then we can get on with our lives.

Handed an optical disc that has the contract between the Free League and the Scale Plate I head out of the office. I have Devika set a course for the Pirate Trade Hub where the negotiations have been ongoing and head to my old cabin for the next few hours. I direct the Porcupine and the Geometric Owl to Silent Witness I in case we need backup.

We arrive at the station and the Public Announcement mention Explosive Material can be hazardous, please contact the dock master if you have any onboard. As I enter the Pact business office Mustris Gisnos Yoliou II queries my approach Well now, what have we here? It’s at this point I notice two Teladi Marines looking relaxed and menacing, I’ve got a bad feeling about this

Mustris Gisnos Yoliou II the Scale Plate Lieutent continues I suppose you are here to give me something? At which point I hand over the encrypted contract disc.

This was a fun little exercise. I must say that Dal Busta is an interesting man. He convinced me to give Hatikvah the chance to repay their debts so that we can all move forward. But there seems to have been a misunderstanding. The largest debt was respect. Yet here you stand. You must be a trusted ally of Hatikvah, but hardly the figurehead I expected. If Hatikvah will not show me the respect of submitting to me in person, I am afraid this business arrangement has reached an impasse.

I wonder, will you reach Hatikvah in time to warn them, or will you be greeted by wreckage.

With that the meeting is abruptly concluded and I’m forced to wait for a second transport to the docks as the Lieutenant and his entourage claim the first for their use.
I’m finally on the scout and just given Devika instructions to undock and head towards the Hatikvah Trade station when there is a Priority call from Hatikvah.

I acknowledge the call and Reen is sounding confused and afraid.

Pilot what is going on? We have Scale Plate making moves against our assets.
I think the lieutentant expected you at the meeting.
We don’t have the forces to deal with this, especially in the outer reaches. Even the local law enforcement isn’t keeping up. I’m going to contact the Argon, this has gone far enough. Until they step in please help anyway you can.
I’ll try my best.

At Silent Witness XI there is a distress call from a Large Hatikvah freighter. I scramble the Geometric Owl to provide the Rapier with an escort which is diverted to assist and the Porcupine is sent directly to provide assistance. We are in the vicinity when we hear the crew abandoning the freighter The priority is to protect the escape pods. There is just a single heavy fighter to deal with and everyone is able to work together to protect the escape pods.

This is Argon Police. All Hatikvah ships are to disengage and return to secure Argon Space.

Pilot you better get out of there. The Argon are rounding up Hatikvah and Scale Plate alike. Before they bring me in, I’ll make whatever payment you’re owed. This really did end up a mess. If you see that Teladi bastu on your travels fire a few missiles from me. As for Dal, he’s probably laying low for a reason. I’ll send you his last known co-ordinates. Keep out of trouble

Heading to the last known location we find Wreckage that was Dal Bustas vessel. Our ship computer cannot detect any life signs but can locate the flight recorder. Collecting the recorder from the airlock I take it to the cabin and begin trying to retrieve and analyse any information from it.

The recorder eventually reveals it’s contents and it appears that the vessel came under attack and that escape pods were launched. Despite my best efforts even with the assistance of the ship computer The flight recorder gives no further current information on the condition or whereabouts of Captain Busta or his crew.

Returning Home

Docking at the Argon Defence station of Silent Witness I, I let the crews have some free time.
While every one is relaxing I get a call from Boso Ta.

Captain this is Boso Ta. Well I suppose you don’t know that many other Boron. I believe we have a situation. Perhaps it is best if you return.

Arriving on the Segaris Station I head towards the science laboratory.

Quickly come in. I can not be sure, but it seems like we have an intruder. Perhaps some long dormant entity has awoken inside the facility. Or maybe beings from the parallel realm have found their way through.

Sorry to disappoint it’s just little old me. Don’t look so shocked. I should be the one that’s surprised to see you running this place, of all people.

Intruder, would you be so kind as to take two steps backwards so that I can enact the purge protocols?

Recognising the voice of the intruder I think Please Dal take those two steps backwards.
Dal Busta takes two steps further into the laboratory.

And you, dear Boron. A group of Split approached me to track you down. Luckily for you, I find such tasks rather troublesome.

What happened to you?
After the Scale Plate situation worsened, my ship was targeted. We didn’t have much of a chance and only a handful of us managed to escape in our pods. Once I was sure the survivors were safe I started to piece together what happened.
What happened to Reen?

Reen turned herself in to the Argon police. She’s working with them to help disrupt Scale Plate activities in Argon space. It appears that she did not follow my instructions closely enough.

A plan which hinges on the conduct of criminal madmen is not much of a plan at all.

If you observe something long enough, you can account for anything, even madmen.

Why are you here?
I started to hear rumours of a mysterious station appearing out of nowhere. Given that I’d just lost my pride and joy, I was looking for a new start. So I broke in. I was expecting to sweet talk some top-secret government folks, but everything led to the Boron, and you.

You are an interloper.

I’m the best damn interloper this side of the multiverse! With my analytical abilities, your resources and the Boron’s prickly demeanour, we can do anything.

I leave Boso and Dal to get acquainted though they're not sounding too friendly. Heading to my Personal Office to ponder what I wish to do next.
After several minutes the ruckus from the science laboratory seems to go be getting louder.
Needing somewhere to consider my next objective, I eventually get Devika to prepare a flight plan to Brennan’s Triumph and await my arrival.

Brief Respite

Crossing the jumpgate to Black Hole Sun immediately eases my worries of Boso Ta and Dal Busta. Four further Gate transitions and I’m in the familiar territories of the Pioneers and the concerns of Grand Exchange a memory.

Arriving at the Wharf of Brennan’s Triumph I order a second Bolo (Gas) Miner a small Frog as well as a Terran Corvette. That basically halves my bank balance.

I have the Gas Miner Operate in Gaian Prophacy like my first one and dedicate to a Methane consuming factory of Brennan’s Triumph. The Frog will shift product from these factories when profitable and otherwise trade with Terran Stations.

With the Corvette completed I board the vessel looking for the New Captain. Takaharu Goto Welcomes me on board and assures me all crew are onboard although I can’t see anyone else in the cockpit. I wait a few minutes and with just the two of us in the cockpit I give the order for the Corvette which I’ll name Sloth to leave the Wharf. I have Captain Goto run the vessel through a series of Navigational tests. With the tests complete I tell the Captain to wait while I decide the course home.

He seems quite capable of following orders, I consider as I float in space at the Original site of the Segaris Station. It would be amusing to order the captain to fly to any number of locations. But just because every ship comes with an assigned pilot it’s not a reason to reassign personnel.

We begin the course home. Eventually I’m at the Antigone Wharf. I’ve just told Takaharu to join Baldric (URJ-107), and I’m waiting for Captain Grey to take command of the Sloth. While I have a few minutes I check my messages and there’s a complete backlog of calls from Dal Busta.

Going Goto Gone

Captain Goto Trading Station Ianamus Zura.
Pioola your humour stinks as much as your EVA suits.

I look up from the personal display of messages from Dal Busta which is a consistent stream of

Hey there partner. and Come on … Pick up, Pick up

I lock eyes with the Captain and the captains brow indicates a stern no nonsense attitude
It takes a moment to realise I’m looking at the mask of Captain Grey.
There is silence in the cockpit and I note a flash of emotion behind her eyes until
Yes commander we have new orders

I repeat the directive and at Ianamus Zura receive a promotion from the Teladi Trade Federation as well as joining the Teladi Trade Guild. Once I’ve paid the one of membership fee I select the first job we do for the Guild. It is a series of individual tasks beginning with some local prospecting of the sector for ore/ice which we find in a high enough density deploying the first resource probe. We then need to provide satellite coverage of this mineral deposit so I have one of the scouts drop an advanced satellite which more than covers the area.

The current task then becomes to deliver a number of fine meals to a few traders or important individuals. These could take a while and the traders at the trade station don’t have any of the ingredients aside from the rare spices so I’ve got to find enough mixed fruit and agnu steaks to go with the rare spice to create these plates of quality food.

The Magpie has worked it way over to these Teladi sectors and provided an earnings update
It’s then I recall not having an earnings report from Baldric (URJ-107) for a while. I see Dal is still trying to contact me with the same messages as earlier. I can contact the other captains even back in Pioneer Territory or regions of Outer Sol but not Baldric (URJ-107)

I check my personal log and discover the final two entries of the vessel are

Takaharu Goto assigned as crew.
Baldric (URJ-107) Destroyed in The Void.

Takaharu Memorial Station

Captain Grey plots the particular flight path to Antigone Memorial into the navigation system and then engages the autopilot. The crew leaves the cockpit.

Why are you so distraught over you latest crew member.
There were good people on that ship and do you know any of their names.
No only your latest transfer Takaharu Goto.

That was my ship if you remember.
You didn’t spare the time to change the registration.
I’m taking the time now!
No all you’re doing …
I’m doing What Nella, Running Away , Ignoring the Whiny Argon, Avoiding the Responsibility of Command. You tell me Miss Grey.

Captain Grey just blinked in surprise before quietly retaking the pilot seat
Whatever you’re doing it will be at Antigone Memorial. I’ll inform you when we arrive.

After several meetings with the Representatives of the Antigone Republic and the Segaris Pioneers I have secured the planning rights and permissions to begin a Terran/Hybrid Station in Antigone Memorial.
Over the many meetings I learned of the Sector History of Antigone Memorial. Also found a Segaris Trader with enough Argnu Steaks to complete many Fine Meals.

- Antigone Memorial - [Current Entry]

Once an Argon Federation border system that survived one of the worst Xenon incursions in Argon history. Antigone Memorial made it through the shutdown through the sheer willpower of it’s people, who banded together and unified in order to make sure their beloved home did not once again become crippled by such dark times.

It now serves as the capital of the fledgling Antigone Republic and has seen a long stretch of peace and growth due to it’s distance from both major Xenon threats and the Holy Order of the Pontifex.

- Worst Xenon Incursion - [Archived Entry]

This sector was once occupied by the Argon Federation’s largest station, the Antigone. It was attached in 215 by the largest Xenon fleet known to date.

The station launched its defence fleet when one of the Xenon ships fired into the docking bays, destroying several fighter wings and setting off a chain reaction from damaged propulsion systems in the process.
The station was destroyed killing thousands of people. Some crew and visitors managed to make it out through emergency escape pods that were recovered once the Xenon had retreated.

In one of the largest recovery efforts ever made by the Argon, medivac ships were dispatched to assist. One of these, the ‘Springbird’ was attacked while leaving the sector forcing it into the atmosphere of the planet ‘Sandwell’.
The recovery was extended to find survivors on the planet surface, none were ever located.

The Outpost has now become a place of remembrance for the many Argon who travel here to honour their war dead.

[REF# XEN215-C.A]

With the build site selected we just need the building materials to arrive before the construction of Takamaru Memorial Station to begin. The station will allow Pioneers to return to safer territories or venture further having had the opportunity to learn from the crew of Baldric (URJ-107) including Takaharu Goto.

Splits Appear

The Trade Guild finally receive the delivery of the crafted fine meals. The reason behind the Guilds requests was the recent opening of new trading opportunities with the connection to the gate network of another cluster of inhabited systems.
It is good to find out information, its better if you can verify it yourself particularly if there are Teladi involved. Running my own survey of Profit Centre Alpha our discovery of a newly activated jump gate demonstrates the information as accurate. Dal Busta than asks me to return to Grand Exchange in order to share what he has learned about the recent connection.

The most recent connection allows a number of Split to rejoin with the current network. These returning Split are proud families organised under the High Priest of Zyarth, a Family that has established dominance in the region.
A lot of well connected parties try to influence politics there and as political outsiders we won’t stand a chance.
– Dal Busta

There’s not just the standard Split hierarchy. There is also collection of unaffiliated families, outcasts and criminals. They call themselves the Free Families.
The Free Families however are a messy bunch. Political structures here are quite obscure, but also not as established. Nevertheless they are a formidable force and could turn the tide for the Split.
This is why we need to establish better connections there, to learn how to use the political situation for our benefit. It won’t be easy. From what I’ve gathered most Split are not particularly keen on working with outsiders.
– Dal Busta

What can I do? I ask Dal
With the reconnection of the gates, there are still some Split who are concluding their businesses here in order to return to their families and culture. In order to learn more about them, you should offer your ship as a means of transport.
Ferry random Split in order to make friends?
Of course not, I have found one Split in particular who I suspect is well connected to either the Free Families or the Patriarchy occupation there. He aroused some suspicion. Apparently he makes the trip regularly under different names, so he could be some sort of smuggler who potentially has ties to the other side. You should help him out to learn more about him; maybe befriend him in order to make him share his connections.

I don’t think Captain Grey will hold back when I tell her we’re going to ferry aliens on Terran ships at the behest of our Argon Interloper. Boso calls out as I enter the corridor.
Be careful not to accidentally join his unlawful smuggling operation while transporting him.

On board the Sloth to perform a progress inspection of Takaharu Memorial Station the ship arrives at an appropriate observation area. I access the current build plan. All build materials have been delivered, the Terran Docking Hub is complete and production modules are almost done, leaving just the storage facilities to be constructed. This also checks out with what the cabins observation portal can show me. Satisfied with the process I call Captain Grey to the cabin.

Captain I’ve reached a decision regarding one of the crew. I’ve decided who to assign to Takaharu Station.
Is that why we’re moving?
We’re moving because he needs more management experience and I need another cabin berth. We need to transport someone across the new gate connection.
Has this individual been vetted and approved?
I don’t know what regulation your about to cite but Boso did say not to get involved with his smuggling operations.
The one member that understands the correct use of Terran station protocols, the regulations of the Terran military code, and can recite them as well as myself.
The Boron that can probably give an account of the entire Terran Protection Act. He told you to avoid this guy, and your going to do it anyway!

Nella!
Oh don’t you ‘Nella’ Me, I’m not letting you needlessly place another crew in harms way

Captain Collins when you arrive at the local wharf, Doctor Pioola will be leaving us.

As I walk across the landing pad “I’ll wait for you to…” is the only transmission fragment I hear as my comm link with the Sloth is severed. Once I’ve passed the safety barrier the ship undocks. Leaving me with my thoughts.

Contact Protocols

I take the elevators to the upper levels of the Wharf where the landing pads for the small craftare. The commercial sections of the wharf are centred the fabrication of ships to order and there’s little by way of public comforts like seating except at the dealership showroom. I head there while I examine my property list and request a pickup.

Purchasing a ship here would sidestep the following of Terran protocols since there is no Terran technology that needs to be protected from foreign parties. I’m not sure how the Pioneers have managed to walk that tightrope. I know life was a lot simpler as a planetary bound Xenoarchivist. examine, analyse and record and preserve the foreign artefacts and recordings. Largely independent work considered by some as an opportunistic work like mercenaries and piracy. But it’s important work as history provides answers and perspective for all generations. So while using non-Terran craft will avoid Captain Grey’s interpretation protocol wrath I think diversifying fleet composition is in order.

The Geometric Owl arrives at the wharf and after several hours I am introducing myself to Dal’s Split contact offering the Owl as personal transport. We board and I’m wishing for a few bottles of space fuel after hearing the life, family and cultural history of this suspicious individual. Shortly after flying though the Jumpgate at Profit Centre Alpha into the reconnected territory.

This is sector security, Split scan now. What you have?

Have I not warned my assistant to not become and accomplice in an unlawful conveyance of goods? Boso fretted
It’s rather odd to come across Patriarchy Police in this sector. Wait! Let your passenger deal with this. Dal replied

It's a rather odd suggestion and probably goes against some protocol but I've got no other idea that doesn't put us at further risk.

This is Fau’t nNt reporting on behalf of scanned vessel
Captain, this one has some dangerous opinions, No imminent danger though

After a few minutes we are cleared to continue.

Once we are clear of the patrol vessel the Split passenger tells me
Since you showed interest in Split culture, have friend who might talk some sense into you. That reckless Split always find trouble. Send you her contact details.

That was unexpected commented Dal privately.

Looks like our suspect was scouting newcomers for the Zyarth authorities. Connections to Zyarth Patriarchy won’t get us anywhere. The contact he provided, however, definitely belongs to Free Families. I have a possible location for her but she won’t be that easy to actually get hold of. Recently there have been a number of slaves who have escaped their former masters. This isn’t the first instance of slave resistance since the gate opened. News of a strong Argon Federation elsewhere has inspired them with some hope. Doing her a favour might earn us the friend we need.

Be aware that the Patriarchy Police are also looking for this ship.

A Good Deed

After locating a vessel similar to the target description. Boso informs me

This vessel fits the type but I’m not sure it is indeed the correct one, This one appears to have been abandoned. How strange. You should try to gain entry to it so that we can extract from the ships internal logs.

Wasn’t Boso earlier concerned about getting involved with illegal activities? Here I am entering an abandoned ship for information gathering. The original owners might not like the finer points of salvage and ownership if they want the ship back.
Making my way to the Cockpit to query the ship logs I see a long rack of space suits and a number of empty hooks. Accessing the ship logs for Boso he summarises them as

Oh deary me no. Apparently this vessel was stopped and its crew taken, during the invasion by the Patriarchy. This must all have happened before the Gates were reconnected. This is clearly the wrong ship.

Dal interjects I have a lot of bulk data but can’t pinpoint a possible location for our fugitives sending it over. This sort of data should make your senses tingle Boso. You can track them down, with Bosos help, so we can negotiate the hostages release.

How exciting Dal has provided a considerable number of sensor data logs from ships that have traversed Free Families sectors on their trade routes. Analysing the logs and cross referencing them with cargo records. I was able to identify several vessels worthy of further investigation. I will mark their positions on the map for you.

I start the engine and make my way towards the local Defence Platform.
I receive a transmission from the Defence Station

Approaching vessel Pleassse Identify
This is Pioola pilot of the vessel RDX-351
This is Teladi Defence Platform VAO-238 Sector Two Grand Pilot Pleassse Clarify, Intenionsss, or suffer Ministerial Summary Ruling.
My intention is to dock, I am a registered Guild member.
You loossse profits, Pilot stop all engines and await Ministerial Conformation.

I bring the vessel to a complete stop. Dals comment about the Patriarchy Patrol makes a lot more sense now. The station is offering some Guild Jobs and by contacting the guildsman it’s a lot simpler getting the contracts assigned than it is to receive the usual temporary docking permit. The payment for completion of the contracts will be some paint jobs. The tasks were hardly any trouble a rescue from a mine field and satellite repair. The Teladi don’t seem to like the Patriarchy Policing their sector as the destroy the Patrol Vessel in short order.

Heading back to the Cobra I begin making plans. As I haven’t heard back from the Defence Platform the plan is to transfer a skeleton crew from the Porcupine to operate the Cobra. Then once there are fresh recruits on Porcupine both the Porcupine and the Sloth will provide the Cobra with an escort.

Skeleton Crew

The Porcupine arrives and sends over an adequate crew to operate the new ship before heading off to the nearest equipment dock to employ more crew members. I tell the skeleton crew to get the ship operational and to explore the sector before moving to a rendezvous point to await an escort.

Our search for the hijacked ship begins with exploring the vastness of the newly connected sectors. I’m glad I have the Sloth and the Porcupine defending the Cobra as despite the relative safety provided by a couple of Defence Stations and sector patrols we are targeted be a small Xenon raiding party. The skeleton crew have got the ship in working order as the ships Turrets begin opening fire once the shields deflect an energy strike. The escorts quickly engage and overwhelm the raiding party.

We continue our search and after a rocky detour Boso indicates
This vessel seems to fit the description provided by Dal rather well. Maybe you could try asking the pilot whether they recently escaped slavery aboard a Split station

I take the Geometric Owl, undock from the Cobra and approach the vessel. I’m just thinking how likely is that Bosos open approach is going to work. Dal makes a suggestion that is just to open basic comms with the vessel. I don’t need to open a channel with the vessel as they soon broadcast a warning.

This is your first and only warning. Do not approach any closer or we will open fire.

I ease off the throttle and Boso and Dal confer

They don’t seem very welcoming.
He’s carrying quite a weight on his shoulders with those other fugitives on board, we’ll have to persuade him if we want to get our hostage.
Is that really necessary?
They only need to think that you’re willing to kill. Oh and try not to damage the crew quarters.

So I get a fix on the vessel and increase the throttle to engagement speed. The hijacked vessel is a Cobra so I line up aft with it’s single engine and fly in and then open fire with the lasers. After several volleys with the lasers I decide to pop up above the level of the landing pad. I’m about to let loose another volley of laser fire when the shields register a heavy impact. Well that warning wasn’t just bluff and bravado the hijacked ship really is armed. Another shot impacts the shield. Time to move out of range. A third hit to the shield. I try to vary my flight and a fourth shot jolts the ship. My shielding has shut down the capacitors completely discharged.

I’m out of range and the shielding system charges the capacitors ready for another go. With the crew on alert I’m unable to get in a good position for long and after a few aborted attempts I decide to order my own Cobra to Attack since the hijack crew are focused on the little Owl. I see my Cobra come in and fire everything at the Hijack Cobra and a few moments later They’re broadcasting a cease fire.

Cease Fire! We’re ready to negotiate! We’re willing to give up the hostage! Dock on our ship to pick her up.

Once the hostage is transferred onboard the Owl is contacted directly by another party.
Slave Trader 3 calling foreign vessel Foreign vessel will release Split hostage immediately

I turn to the former hostage who looks exhausted. Split want to go home, Please Comply.
As I begin going through the undocking protocols so I can return the former hostage Dal notes that the timing of that was rather suspicious.

Ceremonies

I slowly approach a massive vessel and receive docking permission from Slave Trader 3 Flight Control. Touching down at the designated pad the rescued Split leaves once the landing struts are locked and the cabin latches are released.

I decide to visit the captain to make sure there are no further misunderstandings.
I ask Manda to perform a preliminary diagnostic on the Owl after the tussle with the fugitives.

Finding the commander of this vessel on the bridge.

Hello There
Creature is welcomed aboard Slave Trader 3. Split not fond of outsiders meddling with Split matters. Fugitives have been under surveillance. Contact has been made to to negotiate hostages freedom. Hostage situation was under control.
This creatures reckless behaviour endangered a Split life nonetheless, this creature did try to rescue one of ours.
So pilot can make amends by attending funeral of Split war hero.
Pilot meet our ship at accelerator in Heart of Acrimony. Pilot also bring customary gift of caviar.

I return to the landing dock, board the Owl and am about to receive the damage assessment from Manda when Dal calls.

OK I’ve found some more data about her…
Dal whatever details you’re about to summarise go a put it in a report for me.
Very well then.

Manda delivers the damage assessment indicating the airlock doors are stuck and there are pressure and electrical problems in the crew compartments. Flying back to the Cobra I instruct Manda to manage repairs, maybe even ask the deck crew for assistance.

I head over to the Sloth and return to Grand Exchange to learn about caviar.
Returning to my Personal office and prepare myself an iced water and spice concoction. After staring out at the central asteroid having finished the drink I wonder why Dal hasn’t pestered me about anything. Taking the seat at the desk I notice on the console the report from Dal.

I execute a search query for ‘caviar’ before opening the report from Dal

Name: Lae t’Shn Species: Split
Gender: Female

Role: Advisor SPL/CULTURE#REF <CURB>

SPL/CULTURE#DEF+?CURB

A female adviser to male Split decision makers.
Curbs were originally established by Patriarch Ghus t’Alt tempering the worst excesses of male Split enthusiasm.

Lae t’Shn belongs to Tkr t’Znk, a minor patriarch who trades in Argon slaves with the Zyarth Patriarchy. She was probably there to clean up on the fugitive property mess, which caused a significant loss of face for her male counterpart.
Not that Family Tkr has much reputation to lose these days.

– Dal

Closing the report and leaning back the search result for caviar.
Recipes for Cultural delicacy spacefly caviar “25 eggs of Markus Spacefly”

Making sure things are running smoothly I retrieve and prepare the expected gift of caviar and head back to the Sloth and towards the Split ceremony
