I didn't realize this didn't have a mod list.
I've got Loki's Advanced Hyperdrive
Cycrow's cheats for a few of the more 'cinematic' things I've done.
Cycrow's Equipment Research and Development.
Improved Boarding... which I don't recall having ever used.
Improved Races is installed, but disabled because it didn't work properly.
NPC Bailing Addon, because it should have been vanilla. It's turned way down.
The Marauder Shipyard, because it's both awesome, and useful to be able to buy certain things.
I've also got all of Lucike's Scripts from the collection, which is too massive to name.
And the mission information fix. Because that's absurdly useful.

Lag. My gaming computer is pretty old now. I'm building a new one though, so it shouldn't be long before I can fire this up again. That combined with some significant computer problems, caused me to stop. Technically it's on hiatus.

This is my new one. It's a massive improvement over my current one, which is a dual core, 2.21Ghz processor, and 2 GB of RAM. So a significant upgrade.

Don't think so either. My old one has been pretty absurdly reliable, aside from some minor issues, and one lightning strike, but the new one will be a monster by comparison.
I'm not a big fan of Intel processors. I've never had anything but trouble with them. AMD's always been the way to go. Same with HDD's. WD's have always given me problems, but I've got a nearly 25 year old Seagate that still works just fine.

I know what you mean I was looking at the cost over performance specs more than anything else.
Plus the other considerations are the number of SETA internal and external ports/ connections. Plus a lot of kit available here is intended for use with an Intel board.
Having said that I should think that Seagate drive you spoke of must have an appalling transfer speed. Speaking of which I, note you have only one physical HDD Listed. I would consider using a min sized SSD for boot up purposes if nothing else.

The only external port I won't be able to use is the lone USB3.0 on my case, which is fine, because there's one on the back of the mobo. The connectors on my current case are broken because they stuck out the front of the case, and got stepped on. Plus the front door broke off, so it left my power, and reset buttons exposed. Thus the new case has all that stuff on top.
The 25 year old one? Yeah, it's 10GB, with an IDE cable connection. It's only slightly quicker than dial-up.
Yeah. I'm definitely going to get myself an SSD later on, but right now I just want it up and running. I'm thinking a 120GB, with Windows 7 on one partition, and Linux on the other, so I can play Minecraft without having windows in my business.

Interesting, after my last post my primary HD decided not to talk to me anymore and I have just spent the best part of 48 hours getting my rig up and running again. Perhaps I should consider an AMD rig?
Bad news is I lost my current game but I think I have a save I can use stored on cloud I can down load. Trouble I have is that every attempt I make to mod my game back to where it was ends badly.
Just trying to use the plug in manager sends my machine to a non responsive state despite totally wiping/formatting all three drives and starting from scratch.
So it looks like I will have to play this run through Vanilla.
Good news is I haven't suffered a hardware loss.
Not sure if this was an Intel problem, deffo wasn't a virus so a bit of a puzzle. Still I like a challenge.

So, I really like Steam's built in browser. I'm actually sending this message from the command deck of Knight's Lance. I've had to roll back to about half-way through the last chapter, due to a bit of save corruption. Since I didn't do anything particularly interesting, it's not too hard to recreate, and as soon as I finish that, I'll move on. Just letting you know.
Mini-Chapter:
Oh gods, the booze. I don't know what happened last night, but I got so insanely drunk, and then wrote an entire entry for a two day operation. I swear. I need to drink less, or drink something a little higher quality. Or maybe check and make sure they didn't write space on a regular fuel canister. Ugh.

I had a similar problem which prompted me to buy my current rig last year. Joke was that I eventually got the HD to work again when I replaced the PSU.
Try fitting a different power lead to it if you have one spare. I recall my HD started to make a mechanical noise like a dry wheel bearing when it spooled up just prior to its failing.
As for scripts I have always had a problem getting mods to work properly, I think it is because they tend to overlap each other and have to be installed in a step by step sequence and tested at each stage. Touch wood since then except for the graphics card and my backup HDD failing (They were old) I haven't really had a problem.

Thankfully, nothing so horrible. Just the latest save, which was about two hours from the previous one. I normally save more frequently, and just didn't do it this time. It's all been recovered, and I'm working on the next chapter. Depressingly, now my laptop needs replacing, but the new desktop's got power enough to spare for both the game and the word processor. Just have to remember to park before I tab out.

That is excellent news, looking forward to seeing you cracking on again.
I use a Midi tower PC myself, I'm old fashioned that way plus its much easier to work on when they decide to go pear shaped.
As for not saving, the number of times I used to pull my hair out after I had hit the quit tab then remembered I hadn't , it's a wonder I'm not bald.

I always save before I quit, but I also save habitually in other places as well. And for whatever reason, this time I didn't.
I love my mid-tower. Big enough for everything I need, though it's just big enough for the motherboard. A half inch or so bigger, and I wouldn't have room for the PSU under the mobo. I'd originally planned on a smaller one, but it didn't work with my CPU. Oh well. This one works fantastically.
I keep getting informed that my Ship Tools file is the wrong language when I start the game. Any idea how to fix that?

Not quite sure if your other in game descriptions are in English then I would have thought the ships files should have been as well, if you are using the Cadius ship pack mod is it possible you downloaded one that was intended for German or French versions of the game.
I know the English language code number is 04 or 044 don't know where I would look for it though.

I've never gotten Cadius to work at all, so that's not it. It's probably one of LUcike's scripts. No matter, it only pops once per start, so it's only a mild annoyance.

Chapter 31: Taking down Zeus
So, Venomous Cobra turned out to be the right choice for the job. We launched 18 marines. Only fifteen of them got on board for some reason, but that was enough to complete the job flawlessly. Technically, it wasn't flawless, because we still caused a fair bit of hull damage, but a large part of that was me being a little heavy handed with the Flails. Better a bit of hull damage, than a bunch of fried marines. It was under escort by three Nemesii, but three hammers a piece seems to be the cure for that. After the ship was mine, and Tow Wagon (Zephyrus) II was enroute from the jump gate to the Zeus, two more Nemesii came to investigate. I flung some hammers at them as well, but it didn't work out as well. So I brought the VC in between the Tow Wagon and the Nemesii and unleashed some more Hammers. That finished it, and then what was left chased down and mangled firmly a Hazardous Minerals Transporter.
I also called in Viper Strike and opened up on Duke's Haven, but I was out of range. I didn't think to check until after I'd ordered nearly the full complement expended. I flashed a message to Duke: That was a warning. Make ready to trade, or be prepared to rebuild.
I'll check back later to see his decision. And bring a tape measure.
---
My first task is to add an Ammunition factory to my CODEA supply complex. It's a bit excessive considering the only ship using it at the moment is my personal Tenjin, the Warjack, but having ammo available is important. Speaking of, I've noticed we're a little slow on the production of Tomahawks. I'm not using a tremendous amount, but I'd like them a little quicker, especially since we're now also arming Viper Strike. I've also noticed that I need more storage space. I'd like to purchase a Mammoth, but that's a bit of a massive investment. Instead, I'm going to investigate 'acquiring' a Terran Atmosphere Lifter. I admit, this might not be my best plan ever, but it'll certainly be entertaining if I can pull it off. Mean time, I'm busy doing maintenance on my fleet. I've had a Mistral Super Freighter dubbed Chip Shipper sitting at the Argon Prime shipyard for Gunne knows how long. So dropping in there with the Revenge (Panther), I almost instantly purchase a Manta which pops up for sale at the shipyard. I have a bit of a problem doing that kind of thing more often than I should.
I've discovered a severe excess of gunners for the MEFOS system. I've converted one of them to a pilot for the Transport and Travel Service. I'm not sure how well it'll go, but it's worth a shot. As soon as he was in his custom outfitted Disco Raider, he left the military base like a shot. I'll wait and see, and if it's profitable, I'll convert a few more. If not, well, no matter, I'll find something to do with them. Maybe recruits for one of my secondary carriers? If not, I'll have to have a mass firing.
While stopping in Black Hole Sun to discourage a bunch of raiders from annoying one of my traders, I end up going face to face with a Xenon attack group. A Q, a few L's and an M. While I did lose a Pike, Bomber beats Q handily. From there, I took a ship return, and on the way back, a build mission. Parking up in Avarice, I decide a break is in order, only to get informed that one of my Economy and Supply Traders is in need of assistance in Seizewell. Hi ho Silver, Away!
---
The following morning, as I'm busy doing a bit of paperwork, there's an alert about a ship under attack in Cardinal's Domain. By the time the computer brings up the map, all that's left is a rapidly expanding cloud of debris. My Weapon Supplier, which I can't even remember what it was supplying, is just gone. A Paranid Military Agamemnon is to blame. I know this because the Squints are broadcasting it proudly as a victory over the evil pirates. I think I should perhaps explain my displeasure.
Viper Strike jumps in almost on top of the Revenge. Needless to say, Viper Strike is exceptional at putting it's point across. The squints seem unreasonably displeased, though I'm completely dumb struck as to why. From there, I bounce north to Mi-Ton's Refuge, and meet up with Rapscallion. It seems the Paranid need another slapping down.
