HUGE Graphic MOD (final version, links UPdated and added)

Here is RESULT of my huge work (300 hours total) indeed : making... looking... remaking again and again...

This is TEXTURE MOD. All textures have HQ TGA format instead of old "cloudy" JPEG. All, what i have done - I improved textures files (some files changed) in the tex/true folder. This MOD must work with any savings and any mods, I not see any reason for not working...

SO, In a nutshell, -
Textures in the Game became more sharp, colourfull, clear and bright now.

Stars looks like real stars, but not like hume unclear pionts...
Gates looks like in X3 game.
Improved almost all objects - ships, stars, clouds, planets, lamps, asteroids, cockpits, fire, explosions, STATION INNER INTERIER....
Cockpits looks more accurate and sharp
I make a lot changes in textures ships and stations.

Anyway... better one time look than 10 times say around it....

ISTALLATION - just unRAR and place in X2 The Threat Dirrecory. This Texture Mod must be compatible for all versions of X2, because no scripts, no texts, no DATA added, only changing textures...

INSTALLATION - just take out from X2 old folder tex/true, unrar thid mod and put new tex/true folder in the same place.

p.s.p.s Main game Files 01/02/03... CAT/DAT in game X2 The Threat MUST be unpacked (unzipped) with special utility (read more about it in this forum). This is one and only rule for working this MOD. I mean X2 must be unpacked, you should see folder tex and true into it

I've managed it after several tries to download the package (it took hours though). I can send it to you, Shadow Dream. But I want to extract the new textures first.

@ATAMAH:
I can make a Mod out of it for all those that don't play unpacked X2, if it's okay with you! (I need to do it anyway, because I also don't play unpacked X2 :D ).

Hmmm, while running with the crappy internet that we have, it takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes to download......could anyone provide any screenshots of what has changed?

I would love to see what this looks like, but it is taking forever.

If somebody need screenshots just download mod and compare with game original textures, i play couple minutes, i say change in game are very impressive, already in main menu you will see diferrent with original game. :roll:

Yeah, I got that file now too. I started to add some into a cat-file (too bad it can't add all at once, so I had to put 'bout 10 by 10 in it, that was VERY exhausting :D ) I havn't added all of them, but those who I added where quite nice ingame! I like them ;)

SORRY :oops: , I was not paying attention properly, kids wanting attention DL it now it is a game that I have rediscovered 2 weeks ago going through my game stack I am strung out on it again!!!!! The wife WILL proberly devorce me this time around Glad to see its still got a BIG followin :D

Quick question from newb, do I just place the folder in D:\Program Files\Enlight\X2 - The Threat\tex? As I don't see an existing "tex" folder. Thanks.

I doubt this will work. AFAIK, X2 only uses a tex folder, if the game is unpacked. You need a mod. I already packed this to a mod, but it's not accessible atm.

ATAMAH --> thx for great mod!

I really enjoy it! What I love is stars and planets - stars just like in native x2 but muuuuch better. And planets...wow! Now I know what to look for when surfing in the space. Good job!
What is better, your improvments are less graphic demanding than other mod I was using. Thats great because I dont have lag at all (using X2 on Mac by Boot Camp, so its still an issue).

If you are open for sugestions, I have a simple but big one - pls restore original graphic of aiming system (or make a version with it). Yours is very subtle and cute in desing... but when fighting I dont see it at all. And that was THE ONLY reason I went back to original. Maybe its because Im playing x2 from very beginning - and fighting stronger ships are very important to me. And this subtle aiming graphics made all fighting system extensions useless :(



Chris Gi --> great great thx for making a mod version! Its the only way I can use it - as you mentioned, Chris :)



PS - It would be nice to have planets and stars version separately from ships, stations and others version - just to combine then as you want. But thats the mod user's dream, not creator's :)

I done it ! I really DONE it !!! :)
This is my first MOD and I put into it all my soulimpression.
Just download, unRAR, put into X2 folder and start test demo or gamebeginning.

In my humble opinion - now X2 much closer graphic quality to X3, indeed. And in some places even better :P (clouds, stars, intostations) :!:

If anyone can pack this mod like 07.cat 07.dat files (examples) - I say HUGE THANKS! I cannot do it, I don't know how to pack folders into cat and dat...
I understand that this MOD now useful only for unpacked X2, but I play only in unpacked X2/X3...
Anyone can do it ?

Can you make a real mod (something to put in the mods folder) out of the stuff? I doubt there are many players around that have unpacked their X2.

ATAMAH --> I don't even know what kind of non packed version you are talking about. I don't know what to to with files I downloaded. Please do the mod version if you can... or at least ask someone to do it :)

Last time I used a mod version of your work made by Chris Gi... it worked perfectly! Can you ask him for help?

No, this time it's different. The former version used jpg as texture format, now it uses tga. I already tried to pack (I wanted to know how it looks) but it didn't change anything. TGA format is only used if there are no jpg version of the textures. But X2 uses jpg, which get read instead of the tga from ATAMAH.
Sorry, I don't have the time to convert the textures from TGA to JPG.

Yes, what do we do with the files in the archive? There's no tex/true
directory in the x2 directory. If I need to unpack something of the
game, how do I do that?

Improved graphics would be awesome :)

Ok, I downloaded

contains 05.dat and 05.cat. I put those into my x2 directory and
started the game. The HUD looks messed up, but otherwise, it's a great
improvement.

That's awesome work, ATAMAH, thanks a lot! They might as well release
a patch containing this upgrade!
