some bugs/oddities with two venture docks

Hi,

i don't know how the plans for multiple venture docks are, but i wanted to point out a few bugs/oddities:

1) first an actual error
If you send two ships in a row on ventures. the set/intendet amount of brane charts are not used for the second venture.

Here you can see the first ship that will use 2 brane charts and 2 brane fuel.

This works for the first ship, as you can see from the correctly deducted 2 units each after you have sent the ship.

If you now select venture dock II and send the second ship out with 2 brane charts and 2 brane fuel.

No brane charts are deducted.

But the probability of a successful venture is not increased either.

Thus, the number of brane charts taken does match the actual probability, but that's just not what you wanted.

This bug does not happpen, if you completely close the venuter screen after you send the first ship, and than reopen it to send the second ship.


2) and somewhat related to point 1:
Why can't you send away the ships in both venture docks at the same time, but have to do it one after the other.
As a result, it is saved separately each time, which is at least annoying given the larger save game that I use.


3) if both ventures are actually finished, only the one in venture dock 1 will be "finished" when loading a save.
The second will still be in status "in progress".
you either have to click "show result" and do a save/reload, or let the time pass ingame until the second venture is finally marked "finished".


somewhat deviating from the "two venture docks" theme, but i don't want to open another thread.
In my opinion, we already have too many situations that make it absolutely necessary to pass ingame time, or, like some would say "play the game", but "playing" in pause mode and configuring is also playing, but no longer really possible for longer amounts of time, if you want to participate with your save in the MTS.
This makes playing with large saves, where there is always something somewhere that needs the player's attention, difficult.
What bothers me for example:
Why can't you get decryption chips without playing missions or chasing ships? Why is there no venture to do it?
Why are ventures not finished when in pause, even if the time is long over?

I think its as simple as Egosoft only ever considered we would have one Venture dock. I bought the new collectors edition (on top of having the orignal X4 plus all DLCs), and found I could register the new game and build a second Venture platform, but I will not be using a second venture platform, as its a circumstance I think which is not anticipated by the Developers, an oversight/mistake.

I would imagine they are looking into detecting two registrations and disabling the possibility of a second venture platform .. Probably a bit of a technical problem for them now that the horse has bolted its too late to close the gate, they need to solve it retroactively.

But why integrate a dropdown menu to handle multible docks, if that was never planned?
We simply will have to wait for Egosoft's final decision, how to handle this imbalance. But there are more, like how to handle new games vs. settled empires.

So they are allowing people with the money to buy multiple copies of the game to be at an advantage .. or maybe they will change the idea of only being allowed one dock to having many regardless of registration. I guess as you say we need to wait and see, and bugs with multi-platforms do need solving.

Well, they should at lest give a statement if they plan to fix this, because some (including me) are gooing for sure to get a second copy for a second venture dock.
And saying nothing if this is intended to be like now or if its a bug would be a customer unfriendly way if the say nothing regarding this and then patch it out.
