Figured I'd chime in my two cents on the update for Linux.

In previous versions, all that was needed to make a wine prefix work with the plugin manager were the winetricks vcrun2008 and dotnet20. Now, though, it needs dotnet40, and even then functionality is wrong.

Specifically, fake patches will not install on the new version with dotnet40. It just stops dead and can't figure out how to install them.

At the moment I'm stuck with having to use the older, dotnet20 compatible version, as no other plugin manager exists that works on Linux. Obviously this means FL isn't moddable :(

I'd really appreciate it if you could maybe set up a Linux VM or WSL2 or something and see about getting the plugin manager to compile using mono. I tried, but that was beyond me. I expect that the actual dev might have a better chance of it tbh.

whenever I try running this plugin exe defender stops it. If I disable defender I just get a message saying I don't have permission and the .exe file disappears from my computer
I really miss my old XP laptop :(

I have been having the same issue. I try and run the game on modified and the loader crashes and no game load. I tried to install the old version and update it to the current. The same thing happens for me, nothing. I tried running as admin, also nothing. I run the game normally from steam and the plug-ins are present and my game changed to modified, so why complicate things with a broken launch button...just make us close the program and run normally.

I have installed the latest version of the PM to set the game to modified so that I could install some scripts.
I have not installed any yet but just enabled the three that come with the PM.
After that the game is not running well, it hangs\freezes for half a second every few seconds.

I have restored the game to an earlier save and it is running ok now but I would like to get it running well with scripts and the PM too.

After I installed ADJ + HK + WareManage and closed PM, when I restart PM it freezes. Saves this situation only if you restore the original game files of the folders scripts and t.

I assume, but I'm not sure that PP does not save the MODIFED state, but starts in standard mode and freezes because of this. But these are only thoughts, you know better what it could be.

have you made sure you have updated to the latest version, the one i updated a few weeks ago?

and what point does it hang, whats it doing just before?

You can reset the directory by deleting the files in the plugin manager directory, inside the game directory. You can also delete the pluginmanager.dat file from My Documents/Egosoft (this will reset the program settings so you can start again)

I found this file in Documents\Egosoft\
pluginmanager.dat
already deleted it and reconfigured it.
The first run went fine. I turned on the modified game in the settings, the necessary 3 mods were installed. After that, I installed the TradingSystemExtensionMK2-V1.00-17.07.2022 mod.
Closed PM.

And when I run PM again, it hangs up tightly.

you could try moving the game to another directory.

it could be an issue with unicode directory names, i will have to look into that further

Renamed the folder. Now everything starts without problems. :lol: Cyrillic causes a startup problem. It will be good if you can fix this problem.

yeah 1.63 only contains a few small fixes (mainly for the unoffical patch). It will take more time to fix the Cyrillic path names

Not critical issues, but thought I’d ask:

- check for updates says that 1.3.4 unofficial FL patch is outdated, but it’s latest version
- check for packages online shows few dozen found, but I still don’t see them in browser

Anything I’m missing with these issues?

It might just be the update file has the wrong version in, I will have to check.

For the package, the browser will only show the ones compatible with your current game, and will also not show any already installed.

So it's possible the ones it found are either for a different game or are already installed.

Either I'm doing something wrong, or a mistake in the PM.

I add a file from the MOV folder to the package - 00007.pck, as EXTRA

Specify the folder where to unpack it MOV

when decompressing the file is placed in the correct folder but also creates 00007.xml in the T folder. But the file is corrupted.

This is why the game won't launch.

Tell me what's wrong? And why in general does the program place it in the T folder and, moreover, in unpacked form?

Or how to properly add the 00007.pck file so that it is placed in the MOV folder?

Reinstalled X3:AP and Plugin Manager after a few years.

Tried to run the game on MODIFIED, i'm getting a crash each time i try to launch the game with launcher :

Hello Cycrow;

After a long hiatus from X games, I’ve finally returned to try out the modding scene again and I am running into issue’s using your plugin manager package (along with some nit-pickings).

Here is the few I have come across so far:

Package Manager:
1) I would like Plugin manager to be my one stop shop. The forums I see talks about a non-steam.exe, no scaling GUI, etc… I am not able to change screen resolution in game so I have to start an x game thru steam (or edit the config file manually) So what is the chances of having the plugin manager be able to make configuration changes from plugin manager itself? I am referring to what this menu offers (Graphic settings, Input Device, etc.)

2) Nit-picking here but shouldn’t the Fake Patch Icons use the same Icon as the run Icon?

3) Advanced -> verify installed files. It always tells me 2 files are missing “Missing Files detected”: “Community Plugin .. “ and “Ware manager” Even if I enable or disable those plugins

Package Creator:
4) Apparently, Creator is not able to import any ships from X2 “Error: Unable to extract scene file” doesn’t matter which .cat is selected. I was looking to import an older ship from x2 to x3 farnham

5) Apparently, Creator is not able to import any ships from any base game if all ship files are not in the same .cat file for example:
X3: Reunion 09.cat -> Select SS_SH_P_M3 -> Error’s ‘Unable to extract scene file’ then it asks would you like to try another and I selected 03.cat it made it to extracting Models then it hung (had to kill it after 10 mins of no progress)

I would have thought if I seleted 09 to pull the data from and it can not it would search on its own prior base game files before asking I.E. if it cannot find in 09 then try 08, then 07, then 06, etc…

6) Apparently, packer isn’t handing/identifying disruptor missile correctly instead of SG_MISSILE_blah blah it is listed as ‘16’
