[X3:TC] Is Treasure Hunt bugged, can I recover it or can someone give me a save?
First of all I should say I don't know if I abandoned the quest, if that's possible or if something bugged out. I know I picked the quest up at one point, and I've gone back to make sure it's not available, but it's not in my missions list now so I'm not sure if it broke, if I've forgotten a step I was meant to take, what the step was or how to recover it.
So with that said, can anyone tell me if it should be in my missions list? If it should and it not being there suggests it's bugged is there a way to reset the plot that won't disable steam achievements? And failing that can anyone give me a save near the end of the quest line so I can just finish it, get the achievement and resign myself to never getting the Xperimental Shuttle in my proper save?

I don't think you can abandon the quest. I don't think any of the plot quests can be abandoned for that matter. It would be really helpful to know where you were at or think you were at. If you were at the very beginning of the quest, i.e. you get the communication from the Argon government that a M1 was stolen, then it won't show up until you complete the first part of it.

Yeah, I was fairly sure you couldn't abandon it but for all I know it might have been the exception so I figured I should mention it if only for clarification. If memory serves and assuming I didn't blow up before saving which is entirely possible I think I on the first step after paying the dude and going to Weaver's Tempest. I remember flying up to the guy and being confused as to what the hell I was meant to be doing. I think it said something like convince the trouble maker and I commed him but it didn't work so I shot at him a bit which didn't accomplish anything either. Reading the guide it says my mission should have updated but it can't have or I would have done what it said which presumably means I needed to comm him a few more times.
I've just done a fly around Weaver's and there's nothing but hostile Yaki trying to kill me. Maybe the Yaki killed whatever I was meant to be interacting with, maybe the Yaki being hostile pauses the mission or I supposed it's just ******.
And to clarify, I don't know if yaki/pirate rep is relevant but I have gone back to Brennan's a couple of times and I've never seen the blue book plot icon on any stations. It's possible at the time I got killed before saving since I picked it up as soon as I saw it but even if that is the case I've repeatedly flown through all the pirate sector's around Brennan's and not seen it so if there are other criteria I don't know what they are.

Oh, you sound pretty SOL at the moment. If you just want the acheivement, then I would suggest you restart with the humble merchant and use the disco you start with to explore the sectors you need to begin the quest. The quest itself doesn't take too long and isn't that difficult, just fustrating at times. If you really want the prize then the first move I would make in your situation would to befriend the yaki again. I pretty sure that since your target is plot essential he can't die. I also think he was yaki.

Now that I think about, he should be stationed fairly close to an advance satellite. Were you able to locate an advance satellite in that sector?

I took a look through the guide again and it says that he should be in Senator's Badlands but I somehow remember him being in Ocracoke's Storm. In any case, his name is Trouble Seeker and he should be by an advance satellite and several lasertowers. Were you able to locate any of those at all in Yaki space?

I've been to Weaver's as well as all those 3 yaki sectors repeatedly and there is no Trouble Maker, no satellites, no laser twoers. I've got no mission so no heading to follow and I think I've been fairly thorough in exploring around the edges but I've found nothing.
Here's my save if it helps http://www.gogofile.com/Default.aspx?p= ... 75000_5357

@NovaStalker: I found your problem. You haven't actually started the plot. From your save game, fly to Nopileos' Memorial. There is an ore mine that you haven't discoverd yet that is in the northern part of the sector. The Treasure Hunter that you are supposed to talk to is there and the bluebook icon is marking it.

Talk to him and pay your 50,000 credits. Then you will be tasked to fly to the yaki sector to get your first clue.
