Can I query the Paranid Pericles Vanguard in the TC list? it says purchasable but I can't find a shipyard that sells it and the encyclopaedia doesn't list a shipyard either. I just bought one used and was going to sell it but thought I'd check before so will now RE.
Cheers.
Cheers.

In TC there were no spawn/restrictions until 3.1. (including 3.1) That's for sure. To me it feels like 3.2 has the same spawn restrictions like AP 2.0.ThommoHawk wrote:^ This list is for TC, and in TC there are no restrictions on the amount of Arans you can find in UFJD sectors... Sorry for the long absence, been taking a rather long break.
All the scripts I coded for X3TC work in AP so expect the AP version in a couple of days. Any tips on where to find the complete AP ships list? Including "Not in vanilla" ships if possible (you never know when you can stumble upon one).
EDIT: By the way, the latest build of my find ships script looks like this: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/55982 ... D61E9DFB0/

[AP]
A quick check for derelicts upon new game creation revealed that the khaak ships are not the only ones that may spawn.
http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/559 ... AB558FCE4/
I reloaded game 5 times, and logged the derelicts spawned into a file, here are the results:
I'm not sure whether this is already documented somewhere, but it appears to be that the corvette is a 100% spawn (random location, though), then you get a bunch of kha'ak smaller crafts + 0-2 (maybe more) random rare (?) ships. As you can see the last reload was really bad (only corvette + scouts). Third reload was very good, though (all kha'ak crafts + 2 rare ships).
EDIT: the export script is not mine, might be faulty, didn't check. Will look into it.

Recently, a way to capture big ships, including Khaak was discovered in X3TC versions 1.2.1 or prior. Still collecting data. Will update top page accordingly.

Re: [TC] Complete List of Ship Sources + Ship Collector's Helper Spreadsheet (spoilers)
After many years of inactivity, this discovery brought me back into the game once more. This time around I feel like I should once and for all actually complete the list. I'll add couple of posts with generic ship-hunting questions I can link afterwards in the first post for the people not sure where to go / what to do. This one is about generic missions:nponoBegHuk wrote: ↑Wed, 5. Dec 18, 09:57Recently, a way to capture big ships, including Khaak was discovered in X3TC versions 1.2.1 or prior. EDIT2: The partial values for fight rank stated above are approximations, since I don't know the exact formula by which those are calculated. I recommend surpassing these by a reasonable margin just to be sure you meet the threshold.

Re: [TC] Complete List of Ship Sources + Ship Collector's Helper Spreadsheet (spoilers)
I decided to consolidate information about certain ships which were removed or changed means of obtaining in previous patches of the game. I will change links in the main list to this, however I will still provide the old link here for reference.
A collector, aspiring to get all of these, will need to start his game as early as 1.2.1 (or even 1.2 if you want to get Argon Shipyard too). The biggest challenge here (aside from hundreds of hours needed ) is to get your hands on a physical copy of unpatched dvd, since you can't downgrade your steam version. Other means are piracy, which I won't discuss due to ethical reasons, and game file substitution.
The following ugly table shows availability of relevant items during previous patches. I will provide more detailed explanation for each one of them below.
Happy collecting!

a little info on game file substitution
Show
X3 Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude have most its contents packed into a large .cat files inside installation folder. However, if the game finds an extracted file with exactly same name and sub-folder as in the .cat file, it will prioritize extracted file to packed. This way it is possible to acquire a mission director file from previous patch, put it in correct folder and enjoy the benefits of "the downgrade" without reinstalling the game. Since every mission director file includes egosoft digital signature, it should not mark your game as modified.
Personally, I don't use this method but there are several reports of people doing it without problems.

Boron Marlin Hauler

If you run 1.2.1 or before, accepting a "Defend station" mission will make a group of PIrate or Yaki enemies spawn on the other side of the nearest to the station gate. Among these enemies there will be at least one M8 class bomber. This bomber can be of any of five main races (Argon, Boron, Paranid, Split, Teladi), assigned at random. So, it's a 20% chance of spawning a Boron Marlin Hauler. Since the enemies cross the gate gradually, it might be a good idea to put a satellite or other property in vicinity of the gate so you can check quickly if it is Marlin Hauler or you need to try again.
To streamline the process, dock at the station before accepting the mission. Undock and hit SETA, check if Marlin Hauler is among the enemies, and what gate they are coming from. If we're not lucky this time, reload and make one of your ships jump to the other side of the gate. maybe move it away couple of km to avoid getting shot at. Then keep trying and checking neighbor sector until Marlin Hauler spawns.

A recently discovered bug allowed Kha'ak ships to surrender under certain conditions, which allows player to actually capture these ships in vanilla game if done properly. Please go and read the linked post for detailed data. I don't want to copy and paste stuff. However, I will still add personal experience on capturing them myself. This only works in 1.2.1 or before.
Before trying any of this, raise your combat rank considerably. The higher-the better. Kha'ak ships are very stubborn to surrender, and your combat rank improves your chances.
After destroying Kha'ak Station in Unknown Sector you will get a string of repetitive missions until you reach certain "Operation Final Fury" rank. The mission choice is made when you get the message to "Return to base immediately". If you don't have AutoSave option turned on, I recommend saving manually before docking at the Military Base. My suggestion is to keep abandoning all that don't read "We have an enemy group reported nearby. You are ordered to destroy them immediately.". Once you get this kind of mission, check what sector did the game decide to spawn the ships in. The options are
Regarding the process itself, the usual stuff - damage hull to below 2.5%, reset your bail timer if needed and then gently strip the shields again.Read here if needed.
While the Kha'ak Corvette shouldn't give you too much trouble if you're facing him in an M6. But Carrier and especially Destroyer are a whole lot more dangerous.
I managed to cap a Carrier by using Mass Drivers in a Mamba and finishing off with Hyperion Vanguard but I cannot possibly recommend it to anyone. Using a single Boreas with Mass Drivers in side turret, PPC in front and PBE in top worked best for me, but if you want to try other options, check these:

I managed to cap a Carrier by using Mass Drivers in a Mamba and finishing off with Hyperion Vanguard but I cannot possibly recommend it to anyone. Using a single Boreas with Mass Drivers in side turret, PPC in front and PBE in top worked best for me, but if you want to try other options, check these:
- Put Mass Drivers on an M7 ship. Reduce the hull to 2.5% jumping away every now and then to recharge shields. then switch to conventional weapons and finish the cap.
- Bring M7M or M8 and order him remotely to attack your target. After his hull is at 2.5% order your ship to stop firing and gently attack your target personally.
- You can use M2 instead of a bomber too, let him attack your target remotely with PPC and when the shields are low switch to a single PPC and be quick to stop your ship before it destroys your target. This might be tricky but can be done.
- Use another Kha'ak ship to attack your target remotely. Kyon Emitters deal damage almost instantly, so you can order your turret to stop firing with excellent precision.
- You can also attack the target personally to finely control the damage done to the target, but you'll need to leave the sector and come back when his hull is at 2.5% to finish the capture attempt. Read that guide again for details if you missed them.
If you require more information, ask here or in the original thread linked above.
Xenon P, K, J that bail
Show
Once again, this is exclusive to 1.2.1 or before. Due to the same bug as above. In the sectors right next to Xenon Sector (such as Eighteen Billion or Zyarth's Dominion) there is a chance for a combat mission that reads "Patrol [this sector] + Protect [certain station]" to appear. All the ships spawned during this mission used to bail exactly like the Kha'ak described above.
Scoring K and P is relatively easy in, say, Mamba, but J will give you a lot of headache if you come after him in a fighter. The ship itself poses little danger, but it is usually a home to 30+ fighters which will undock and attack you constantly. Even if you kill them, they will respawn instantly in the neighboring Xenon Sector and come right after you. Otherwise, just an usual stuff. Again, remember to read the guide if needed.

Invincible Goner Truelight Seeker
Show
old link
During the Goner plot, you are ordered to board the Pirate Truelight Seeker. If you do it the conventional way, as soon as you get the control of the ship, the goners take it over. After you advance with the plot a little further, the Goner offer you the Truelight Seeker as a reward for saving them. While one might think it's the same ship, actually the original Truelight Seeker gets secretly destroyed while you're not looking and they put together a new one just for you.
However, by applying similar technique as with #deca, you can keep the original ship. To do so you have to send a second wave of stronger marines while the boarding is about to finish. Fine timing is needed so the boarding party arrives and starts cutting hull before the first party succeeds, but not too early. They need to be still "cutting hull" while the first ownership transfer occurs. When the second crew finishes cutting, the ship will be goner property already, so at this point it will turn red and boarding will proceed as usual. Except you're stealing from goner instead of pirates this time, be prepared to lose some reputation. Provided the second party is strong enough to kill off the remainder of first party - who are actually against you now - and hack the core, goners won't take ownership of the ship for the second time.
The original ship will be yours now, and the "clone" ship in Elysium of Light will not be offered to you anymore. Why bother with dual-boarding? because prior to 2.7 the original Truelight Seeker stays invincible forever, even after patching to newest version. Since 2.7, though, after the first boarding party succeeds, the ship immediately loses its invincibility flag and thus, although still possible, there is little to no point in wasting reputation, marines and time on dual-boarding it: you'll get a shiny new one in Elysium of Light anyway.
If you are playing in early version and aiming to get the invincible Truelight Seeker. I recommend doing it before patching to 2.5. They added third deck to M6 class ships in this patch, making it a lot more difficult to put together a team able to pass 3 decks while killing off other skilled ex-comrades in process.
As a warning to blueprint collectors, if you get the invincible Truelight Seeker, this will be the only copy you'll get, and you won't be able to reverse engineer it. So you have to choose between invincible forever ship or +1 to your blueprint count.

At the end of the Goner plot you can claim Pirate Blastclaw, it's the ship you have to follow all the way to Gaian Star. To do so, after plot NPC ejects from the Pirate Base in the destination, pick him up and then disrupt Blastclaw pilot's docking routine by shooting him repeatedly until he chooses to pursuit you instead. At this point, drag him far away from the pirate base and complete the rest of the plot quickly before he docks.
This particular NPC ship is invincible and is yours to be claimed, provided you managed to blow up the pirate base before he had a chance to dock. Sadly, since patch 2.7 hitting "Claim" on an invincible ship like this resets its invincibility flag back to vulnerable. However, if you managed to perform such trick in 2.6 or before, the ship will stay invulnerable even if patched to 3.4 afterwards.

Mahi Ma spawns in this unique ship at the beginning of The HUB Plot.
After you finish exploring the sector for the first time, Mahi Ma says that he wants to see it for himself and ejects the ship for you to pick him up.
Since the version 1.3 you can claim the ship for yourself at any point after Mahi Ma abandons it. Even if you leave it there and progress with the plot, the ship will still be there to be claimed afterwards.
In patches 1.0.1 to 1.2.1 the ship was not claimable. However, if you happen to play in early patch for some reason and plan to upgrade for the higher version, the ship will wait for you in that same spot you found it (put invincible Blastclaw next to it so you don't forget?), becoming claimable after patching to 1.3. This means, you don't need to take any special steps to avoid starting HUB plot before patching your game, as long as you remember where it is...
Prior to the release of patch 2.0 the ship remained invincible after claiming and, as such, couldn't be reverse engineered. Since 2.0 release, though, the ship loses its invincibility property after Mahi Ma ejects - the change is applied even if you already claimed the ship for yourself earlier and it was invincible for some time, allowing you now to reverse engineer it normally.

Not much new to be added here regarding these two ships. After you progressed to a certain point while cleaning the minefield in Ocracoke's Storm, the mission will advance and two Yaki
M7 will spawn in vicinity to attack you. Do the mission in a marine-loaded M7M to save yourself some time. Also, remember to keep saving every now and then while looking for mines, since the targets will be created immediately as the plot advances and there is a chance to get 2 copies of the same ship instead of one of each. And if you miss one of the two, you're never get another chance. In 1.4 Egosoft decided replacing these beautiful collector's pieces by boring Susanowa Haulers, so be sure to get them before that.
Since you need to do HUB plot before you can start PHQ plot for these two ships, it means you'll probably want to get the Enhanced Dolphin (described above) on your path to these ships. While it's not an absolute requirement to patch to 1.3 if you want to start the plot now and get Enhanced Dolphin later (i explained above), I would still not recommend doing the HUB plot before 1.3 just because of the ludicrous resource amounts it used to ask on release.

#deca and #cafe

There is a bit of a misinformation in the guide linked above. While it is true that the #deca captured prior to 2.7 is invincible, it is not true that it will stay this way if patched to 2.7 or above. Unlike Invincible Blastclaw and Truelight Seeker, #deca will lose its invulnerability even if it's already owned by the player by the time you install the patch, much like Enhanced Dolphin above.
The rest of the guide still applies. I recommend you to capture it before 2.6, when it got much harder.
update: #deca can not be dual-boarded like this in versions prior to 1.3
Regarding boarding #cafe, it can only be done in 2.6. #cafe and #deca are actually the same class. If you already own the #deca from above you might want to skip this one, unless you plan to stay below 2.7 for some time and enjoy some invincible #deca for a while, and use #cafe to obtain blueprints. Acually, blueprints is the only thing you can get out of this, keep reading.
The process is simple: when you first receive the notification about CPU ship appearing in Danna's Chance, you have an option to either accept or say "I'm busy with more important things" and decline the plot. The thing is, mentioned CPU ship, #cafe, already spawned in said sector even before you get to make a choice whether you want to do the plot now or later. When it first spawns it is invulnerable and can't be boarded, but if you decline the offer, #cafe is stripped of its invulnerability and set to be autodestroyed in 30 minutes, at which point the plot resets. That's when you get a chance to board it. Don't attempt it if your PHQ is currently busy reverse engineering something - this ship will disappear in 30 minutes no matter what, so its only use is to send it quickly to your PHQ and start reverse engineering, once the process started, you don't have to fear the timer anymore.
However, it is easier said than done. My guess here is that #cafe is treated by the engine as a Xenon ship. And if you tried to board Xenon capital craft before, you know what you in for (read if you don't). Unaware of the fact it would be that hard, I went with 20x100% everything marines and they were failing miserably. Since I recorded my attempt, I watched the video to check how many times I had to reload.

Federal Argon Shipyard (bonus)
Show
If you read the patch notes for 1.2.1, there's a following line:
Curious about this mysterious station, I restarted my 1.2.1 game from scratch just to get this. Let me share my experience.
Code: Select all
- Removed Argon Shipyard from Atreus HQ
So, there you have it, mostly useless station. Can still be used as a wallet, though.Prior to 1.2.1 players were able to buy Federal Argon Shipyard from Atreus HQ. There would be only 1 at the start of the game and the stock would not replenish unless you destroyed the headquarters and waited for it to appear again.
Built shipyard, if your game is not updated past 1.2.1, allows you to dock most (not sure if all) types of ships, just like the NPC-owned shipyards. It lists following wares as resources: Energy Cells, Meatsteak Cahoonas and Ore, however there is no production cycle involved and if you try to put any of these wares to store, they just vanish right away. The shipyard lists Low-Yield Sidearms Fab as its product (by trial and error it was possible to discover it is referred only to Argon-build sidearms fabs and maximum stock is 2 units). Unlike resources, these don't vanish. You can also store credits on the Shipyard.
Once patched to 1.3 or further, the shipyard changes its behavior. You can no longer dock there with anything but fighters. If you happen to have some bigger ships docked (tried TL and M6), you can undock them but they won't be able to dock again afterwards. All of the resources and products are not listed anymore, so if you have been keeping a nice stash of Sidearms Fabs there, they will be gone. If you transfered some money to the shipyard, it will be conserved. These changes are applied to both already placed shipyards and to newly built ones, if you happen to carry any on your TLs.

Is it possible to capture a Kha'ak Cluster in the same Final Fury missions?
Charge an Ion Cannon, take down all shields and 97,5% of hull by one shot - and, maybe, the "red" Cluster turns blue?

Hmm the ships that don't have cockpit can't bail, as far as I know. It might be worth trying though, in this game you never know...UnknownObject wrote: ↑Fri, 25. Jan 19, 14:44Is it possible to capture a Kha'ak Cluster in the same Final Fury missions?

If this is possible, it would be a toughest capture in the entire game, and providing there are actually 4 different kinds of Kha'ak Cluster, it would be a hell of a challenge to gather them all.

Saw this thread and was thrilled about the concept of collecting unique, rare or even removed from the game ships.
Sent a pm to OP asking for extra help and details and was overwhelmed by the response <3
I ordered a day one release physical copy of X3TC from Ebay (i had it only on steam) which i got today. It is version 1.0.1
My journey begins, please send food and water cause i m not leaving the house anytime soon

Captured a Kha'ak Cluster.
The same "Final Fury" mission.
Lowered shields to ~35K by ramming, charged a single PPC and fired.

Found 3 types of Clusters and captured one per type. The 4th doesn't appear in this mission, as seen from SRST.pck and 2.02 Kha'ak Plot.pck.nponoBegHuk wrote: ↑Sat, 16. A couple of questions if you don't mind:
- Can you personally fly these ships or they act like drones?
- Can they mount any weapons? (game files say you can't, but you never know)
- Can you Reverse Engineer and build more of them?
- Can you provide a clean screenshot with all 3 different Clusters in the same picture? I just want to marvel at them for a while

A couple of questions if you don't mind:Regarding the capture itself, I guess maximum combat rank helps. How do you make sure the cluster doesn't target you initially? I guess spawning them in A148 or Nathan's Voyage is best for these, so they can target a NPC ship instead of you. Can you provide more tips for a successful capture? Any chance of a video?

- I can personally fly them. According to TShips.pck, they have cockpits.
- They support no weapons or missiles. They can't even fall apart if attacked.
- I have no PHQ currently. I assume they are REable.
- See it below:
If the cluster is moving at full speed (57 m/s) and not directly to my ship, it wouldn't fall apart if approached. If spawned in the Unknown Sector, they target the Teladi Condor and, as the sector if vast, Clusters soon fall behind other ships with turrets (except M2s, but if Destroyers spawn, I reload the savegame). Then I ram a cluster from behind 1-2 times (not more, it would fall apart) and fire my single charged PPC.
I'm afraid my PC isn't powerful enough to record a video. I've uploaded my X01.sav. Could you record the video on your own, please, if you have time?
