Q: What happens if an HQ is destroyed before/after being under contract?

A: If an HQ is destroyed prior to working for said Corporation then there is no issue. The representative will return upon the respawning of the HQ and you can begin work as soon as the First Mission is offered.
However, if an HQ is destroyed, regardless of who or why, while under contact then the representative will not return when the HQ respawns. The upcoming 2.6 patch may or may not fix this issue.
Game v. 2.5 not modified.
Duke's Haven got destroyed by split military. I was rank 10 (100%) with them so I didnt care to defend it.
After respawn I still have missions offered by Duke's representative.
I do not know how to include screenshots but I can provide a savegame (new Duke's Haven with missions next to Duke's Haven debris).

Vanilla 2.5 here...

Something about the guide that I don't understand. Why capture syndicate ships? I capped a couple and their title reverted back to "Nova" or other generic ship type name even though before they had the syndicate tag. Are these ships not exactly the same as the regular ones that you can buy from any shipyards?

It's possible that being at Rank 10 (100%) doesn't affect the return of a representative when an HQ has been destroyed, though I'm not sure why. AFAIK, all posts refering to the representative not reappearing when an HQ was destroyed was long before reaching 100% at Rank 10.

All my Corps are at Rank 10 (100%), I could do a check to see if this is indeed the case when I return to X. Unless other people can verify this.

To include screenshots you need to upload them to a hosting site (i.e. Photobucket, Imageshack) then you can provide links or images in the post. Images cannot be bigger than 640x480 (as stated by Forum Rules), otherwise they will be converted to links in the post.

I'll use the Centaur/Nova Raider/Osprey as the example.

Say you capture a Syndicate Centaur or Syndicate Nova Raider. Upon capture the names will revert to Centaur/Nova Raider respectively. They will show on the property list/sector map/etc as normal varients. However when you ask Betty to identify the ships (when targeted), Betty will state "Your Syndicate Centaur" or "Your Syndicate Nova Raider". The same happens if you've captured any Pirate Mercenary ships, Betty will identify them with the Mercenary tag (i.e. "Your Mercenary Osprey").

Usually Pirate versions have different stats than the versions that can be bought at the shipyards. You can tell if the varient has different stats than it's normal counterpart if it has a "Pirate" paintjob splashed on the hull.

Thanks, thats good to know. So if you RE the syndicate ships in your HQ, you can then produce the normal version as well as the distinct syndicate version of it?

This is a PHQ question, not a Corporate one.

AFAIK when a ship is RE'd you only get one set of blueprints (i.e. Pirate Centaur/Pirate Buzzard Vanguard). Whether or not the ships built from the blueprint will still retain the "Syndicate/Mercenary" tag, IDK since no one's ever made a mention of it.

I'm finally able to get Imageshack to upload images in their original 1920X1080 resolutions so all the Corporate images will be getting replaced (from the current 1280x1024 resolution) with the original screenshots I took (and modified) once the images are uploaded yet again.

thanks mate for the info, as I didnt know if paranid had any corporations now I can kill the f....... for wiping out legends home for the god nows how many time (MBR mod) so I can now set up some defense for the poor sods there and set them to enemy :D ohhhh I feel so EVOLL!

{Update}


This hopefully will the final update to the Guide that I have to do and will be the first update that I have virtually nothing to do with but provides very important information for those who have broken Corporations in their game.

Endless thanks to dillpickle for creating a Reset Corporations script that will allow players to begin anew with a broken Corporation. The Reset Corporations link will be placed in Section IV between the Contract Termination and Multiple Ship Aquisition sections. The link for the Reset Corporations has also been added to my sig.

Using this script will most likely result in receiving a "Modified" tag so, as dillpickle says in the script thread, Use at your risk.

Any issues that may be encountered from using this script must be addressed in the Reset Corporations thread and not the Guide to the Corporations thread.


And I did a slight tweak to the design of the Corporate Guide, those who have been following/using the information in this thread will notice the changes immediately.

Edit: Sections IV, V, and VI (Additional Information, FAQ, and Acknowledgements respectively) are now the second post on page 1 (it was originally a reserved post) and has been linked in the Table of Contents. {News Update}


It has been brought to my attention that the Paranid fighter requirement for starting the Corporation missions from Duke's Haven (HQ) has been dropped in the 2.6 patch. As such there will be a notation of this change in the Duke's pre req section in Section I. And so here I am updating the Guide YET AGAIN for the umpteenth time.....

Thanks belong to Carlo the Curious for making mention of this change.


Are there any other changes or alterations from the 2.6 patch that I should be aware of?

.............And I don't want to know or hear about future patches.

Don't know if this is old info Deathbeat, my game : vanilla 2.5

After doing the first OTAS escort mission (I didn't bother entering sectors), I got my rep entry in my pilot profile. The subsequent 3-4 missions resulted in a rep increase of only 5% instead of 10%. This is vanilla 2.5 gold from the store so its not (or shouldn't be) an older version where they were still giving out 5% at rank 0. My current OTAS rank is Contracted 80%, which if each subsequent increase within this bracket is 10%, then it shouldn't be possible to get the number 80. So I'm not sure why this is happening.

Edit : The next mission took it from 80 to 85, a 5% increase. The one after that went from 85 to 95, a 10% increase. I am NOT looking forward to this next Covert Operation, following some guy at 63m/s from Light of Heart to Lomanstrat's Legacy across 6 sectors. These are some of the most boring, time wasting missions ever.

I am outside NMMC headquarters. I can not land, probably because I am a “teladi commercial enemy”. However I have the option of taking the starting mission, so it is displayed in my mission list..

So if I turn up with the required Quantum tubes, computer components and crystals will I magically be able to dock and complete the mission or am I doomed to fail unless I can improver my rank.

Can't this thread just die........it was nice and buried for the last few months then someone just had to dredge it up. I know it's just a matter of time before my other guide gets the dredging as well.


But since I'm here might as well answer the questions.

If you can't dock then you can't dock even if you're working for them. Just get your Teladi rank out of the negatives and everything should be good.

You take missions from Pirate representatives and you stop killing Pirates.

Excactly the same pattern happened to my last OTAS quest... I was ordered to pick up the representative at OTAS HQ and deliver him to a random station. It was already three missions ago, I reached 5th rank of OTAS and I wanted to keep doing missions, where I am not forced to dock at OTAS HQ (more free Solanos for my collection @v2.1). I read somewhere, you receive further bonus ships, for every mission you successfully accomplish, without docking the HQ. I got 3 Solanos in the end. The taximission must be done, otherwise I would have broken link to the "plotline" (the contact simply vanishes and sometime later I get a message, return to HQ, but no contact there...). Anyway, good thing I save before taking any company mission... this is the most important part!

An odd observation regarding losing the plotline. I am doing the OTAS missions atm. Now I got a taximission, delivering someone TO OTAS HQ. I saved and declined the offer. The OTAS contact was still there and offered another mission some time later. So in conclusion, you terminate the plotline, if you have to do a taximission starting FROM the HQ, not TO the HQ!

Just a little sarcasm I suppose but yes the guide is still relevant. That's why it hasn't been locked for necromancy. :wink:


In regards to Taxi missions and breaking, that tends to be a X2 sagt Bussi auf Bauch thing. I, along with testers, had it break both ways but the majority were with TP required ones.

If you want more free ships and have to dock the "Quick Dock" method can work but save before docking (and before accepting the mission) because sometimes it takes quite a few tries to get it to work. As to why it doesn't always work remains unexplained due to too many variables.



Oh and I have another update to do but it's on hold ATM.

One other thing, if you steal ships from a given Corporation while under contract you will be fired. So if you intend to steal Corporate ships do so before starting work for them or after you're done with them (i.e. reached Rank 10).
I am at rank 1 of OTAS, and stealing their ship (Cap) does not get me fired. Killing them does, however. May be this is new in 3.0?

While I don't recall 3.0 making any changes to the Corporations in any form, I will admit it could be possible.

If you wish and be so kind if you are willing to spare some of your time, could you see if this happens will any (or all) of the other Corporations and let me know what happens?

Of course verification will be needed, in this case screens of the PSD (Player Status Display) showing the Corporate ranks as well as screens of a stolen Corporation ship (before and after capture). And should result hold true the guide will receive the neccesary updated information and credit shall be given.

In this game, I am only employed by OTAS and Strong Arms, so I will provide that. Where can I upload screen shots?

BTW, the sector where you commit the crime (:-)) may play into the outcome. I capped 4 OTAS Mistral SF at Paranid and Pirate sectors, and got no penalty in OTAS ranking at all.

ImageShack or PhotoBucket are two that spring to mind when it comes to uploading screenshots (sure there are others).

Where you steal the ship from may come into play and you mentioned taking Mistrals which are a bail, see if stealing a ship that has to be boarded yields the same result (provided you have the means to do so).


Don't forget images have to be 640x480 in size to meet forum rules (you may have to do some cropping) or just thumbnail/link the image.
