So first accept mission, activate guidance and just stay out of the sector where they are flying trought. I did this and no pirates xD

And who gave you that little nugget of information in the first place.....:P

From thread Bug Alert??,
Deadbeat_Spinn wrote:Easy, stay OOS. Prior to starting the mission works best and you don't have to worry about hostile forces (same with TerraCorp's Convoy mission).

I found that out in my first game in 1.0, I accepted the mission then actually managed to forget that I had undertaken the job......sometime later I got a message saying "Mission Completed". Only downside is that you don't get the opprotunity to steal Syndicate ships.

But you're right, I should include it in the guide. It'll be added with the upcoming FAQ in the next update.

No worries, it's something I overlooked/forgot about and it's relevant information that should have been in the guide when the First Missions section was added.

1. Already explained in detail (Section IV).
2. Same as above (Section IV).
3. Same as above (Section II).
4. Since no one's ever posted on what happens, assuming you can even drop a rank, if you can still get ships once you return to a reward rank. As such only speculation exists.

Ok. but you are now working on a FAQ, and that are only questions and answers. It looks like you want that everybody first reads your guide and then your FAQ?? idk but then its actually not a FAQ, but a sort of "add" to your guide

The whole point of a guide is for it to be read.

The FAQ is for common questions/issues that may have not been fully explained in said guide (i.e. respawn time of an HQ).

Reading the FAQ first makes the guide irrelevant and just leads to confusion/questions. If said FAQ tells everything the guide has in it, then what's the point of the guide.

BTW the term FAQ means Frequently Asked Questions not something else.

That's already been taken care of.

FAQ answers could be summaries of what's explained in detail later on (if it's buried in a section), or just a pointer to the relevant section of the guide (although it's pretty obvious from the section titles for the ones that were listed, I think).

{Update I}

FAQ has now been added to the guide as Section V.
Information pertaining to the Convoy missions offered by OTAS and TerraCorp as a First Mission has been added to Section IV.
The results of stealing Corporate ships while under contract has been incorporated into the Contract Termination portion of Section IV.

Edit I: {Update II} - Apr. 4th

Additional FAQ Q's & A's have been added to the FAQ section of the guide (Section V). Since I don't feel like dredging up this thread to be back on Pg. 1 of the Spoiler Forum there will be no version change nor update to the title of this thread.

Edit II: {Update III} - Apr. 11th

Yet another FAQ entry. This one pertaining to HQ destruction while under contract. Once again this thread will not be dredged up. Any complaints about the lack of revival can be taken up with the complaint department.

{Update}

*Sighs* I was hoping not to dredge this thread back up.....just can't win.

Information about avoiding an encounter with hostile ships when doing Follow missions has been added to Section II. I completely spaced this when I was doing the FAQ addition and I've only gotten to it now since I've been a little preoccupied with XFF I.

Q: What happens if an HQ is destroyed before/after being under contract?

A: If an HQ is destroyed prior to working for said Corporation then there is no issue. The representative will return upon the respawning of the HQ and you can begin work as soon as the First Mission is offered.
However, if an HQ is destroyed, regardless of who or why, while under contact then the representative will not return when the HQ respawns. The upcoming 2.6 patch may or may not fix this issue.
Game v. 2.5 not modified.
Duke's Haven got destroyed by split military. I was rank 10 (100%) with them so I didnt care to defend it.
After respawn I still have missions offered by Duke's representative.
I do not know how to include screenshots but I can provide a savegame (new Duke's Haven with missions next to Duke's Haven debris).

Vanilla 2.5 here...

Something about the guide that I don't understand. Why capture syndicate ships? I capped a couple and their title reverted back to "Nova" or other generic ship type name even though before they had the syndicate tag. Are these ships not exactly the same as the regular ones that you can buy from any shipyards?

It's possible that being at Rank 10 (100%) doesn't affect the return of a representative when an HQ has been destroyed, though I'm not sure why. AFAIK, all posts refering to the representative not reappearing when an HQ was destroyed was long before reaching 100% at Rank 10.

All my Corps are at Rank 10 (100%), I could do a check to see if this is indeed the case when I return to X. Unless other people can verify this.

To include screenshots you need to upload them to a hosting site (i.e. Photobucket, Imageshack) then you can provide links or images in the post. Images cannot be bigger than 640x480 (as stated by Forum Rules), otherwise they will be converted to links in the post.

I'll use the Centaur/Nova Raider/Osprey as the example.

Say you capture a Syndicate Centaur or Syndicate Nova Raider. Upon capture the names will revert to Centaur/Nova Raider respectively. They will show on the property list/sector map/etc as normal varients. However when you ask Betty to identify the ships (when targeted), Betty will state "Your Syndicate Centaur" or "Your Syndicate Nova Raider". The same happens if you've captured any Pirate Mercenary ships, Betty will identify them with the Mercenary tag (i.e. "Your Mercenary Osprey").

Usually Pirate versions have different stats than the versions that can be bought at the shipyards. You can tell if the varient has different stats than it's normal counterpart if it has a "Pirate" paintjob splashed on the hull.

Thanks, thats good to know. So if you RE the syndicate ships in your HQ, you can then produce the normal version as well as the distinct syndicate version of it?

This is a PHQ question, not a Corporate one.

AFAIK when a ship is RE'd you only get one set of blueprints (i.e. Pirate Centaur/Pirate Buzzard Vanguard). Whether or not the ships built from the blueprint will still retain the "Syndicate/Mercenary" tag, IDK since no one's ever made a mention of it.

{On-Topic}

I'm finally able to get Imageshack to upload images in their original 1920X1080 resolutions so all the Corporate images will be getting replaced (from the current 1280x1024 resolution) with the original screenshots I took (and modified) once the images are uploaded yet again.
