...now we just need a Cockpits FAQ, Planet Landing FAQ and a Walk Through Stations FAQ... Gazz? :D

(of course, *then* what would the crusty X old-timers have to complain about?)

About the number of FAQs cluttering the forum.

Why don't you do the next one? I'm sure they can be... arranged... in a useful manner. Just consider it your share of home improvement. Only with fewer painful accidents.

The forum search won't be very helpful but a google search with site:forum.egosoft.com and the apropriate search terms...

Despite the fact that I'm one that yearns to share the X universe with my friends, I have to applaud you for this post, sir.

Brilliantly done :)

Fantasic post Gazz :D

I don't think just making it a sticky is sufficient. I think we should all adopt a mission to keep this on page 1 forever

SETA could be done the way that requires all players to accept it. :-)

If only there were up to 8 player skirmishes or something :)

You get a certain amount of cash, you buy ships and then fight to the DEATH.

No buildings, just a random buying ship thing at start :)

Also no fight consoles for the ship you are on, so it can involve skill aswell.

No way. All or nothing. The pedantic, sadistic players, who loathe multiplayer games and have way too much time on their hands, must have a chance to lurk, prey, and mercilessly slaughter every MMO-desiring newcomer.

this and the infinite possibilities to mod my game make me prefer an Offline X3TC...

I have been around a lot in MMORPG... and if I can say that...
I prefer to see how dumb is my computer than seeing how dumb are some players... :P

I loved to play split-screen/LAN games with my brother (not MMO's though) but to be honest the thought of writing netcode to deal with 150+ sectors full of ships and stations is so mind-boggling that i doubt Egosoft will ever do it

In almost ALL circumstances i will prefer a game i have complete control over loading, saving, time acceleration and can mod to the 'novelty' of seeing a fellow player humping my dead body with his lvl 60 blood elf while shouting "n00b, n00b, n00b!". Ah yes, the peak of civilization!

The only MMO ive taken a liking to is Test Drive Unlimited; but racing games are almost made to be multiplayer

Excellent thread, just what I was looking for, but instead of reading through all these links could someone tell me why X3 TC isn't multiplayer?

I mean Egosoft must be losing a fortune cos me and my 8 mates would love to play on a LAN.

*tum tee tum*

If you really must know, the X series is a niche game not a mainstream game and Egosoft is a small company as opposed to EA, Valve, & Blizzard (as well as many others).

The assumption is that if you cannot read anything that has already been written, then you won't read the next copy of the explanation either.

It was not made that way. That is why.

I could be getting completely the wrong end of the stick, but I thought freddiel's comment was sarcastic as opposed to sincere.

"losing a fortune cos me and my 8 mates" seemed a little too much to be serious...

;)

That you have to buy 8 copies of Company of Heroes (or similar game) to play a simple LAN game is an absolute rort. It really ticks me off that multiplayer has been reduced to either 'online' or nothing at all
