That should be listed in the text of the mission before you accept it.

For taxi missions involving a groups of passengers, it will either say the sector/station, or it will leave it open to any sector station. In the latter just fly to the sector and dock at the nearest station. The rest, it should always tell you sector/station. For combat and patrol missions, sometimes you have to go speak with someone and they tell you where your target is. Just have to thoroughly read the text sometimes.

It does help to have explored an area completely, and to remember where some sectors are.
