Station manager discriminates against ore

Post by fireanddream » Mon, 10. Jan 22, 01:27

Yes that's right, space mineral racism is a thing in my game.

Minerals have been my favorite product to trade since AP because the NPCs do such a poor job of transferring them (they crawl) and the availability of minerals often decides whether the 2 ion disruptor factories get removed 2 hours into the game.

However, since I've set up a trading hub in the gate hub, I kinda never seen my ships buying or selling ores. Silicons they do from time to time, but 2000ish ore sit at the station for an eternity. I know ore has huge profit margin and looked it up in the encyclopedia. It looks like this https://imgur.com/a/RhFZ6AA

My hub is set up like this and nothing was changed in the station manager restriction menu. https://imgur.com/a/SRMnmlr Akeela's beacon is not blocked in any way as I've seen my trade ships visit it pretty often.

No idea what was wrong, I set every other trade product to "storage" except E-cells and ore. Within minutes my ships fed 10-20 stations desperate for ore. So they were able to buy and sell ore, but they chose willingly not to.

To compare the profit, 12,000 E-cells selling at 19 and buying at 12 is 84,000 in profit. While 800 ore buying at 50 and selling at 200 is 120,000 profit. They should absolutely prioritizes trading ore. A quick look at my empire report confirms that ore is making a lot of profit compared to common food and E-cells.

Any idea why? In the next playthrough I may set up an ore mine not to produce but just to trade ore and e-cells exclusively since my gate hub traders hate ore for some reason.
